My wife and I were visiting friends in Chalmette and being from north Mississippi We really enjoy a good southern breakfast. When you come to the New Orleans area, I know it’s all about seafood, but this was a great find for a little diner and dive for breakfast. We highly recommended checking it out. The food was great and service spectacular. We will definitely come back again on our next visit.

This is some of the best food that you will eat in the parish. From the breakfast to the lunch, the food is amazing. The owners are very nice and the work crew are amazing.
The breakfast biscuits are huge and worth it. I eat here at least twice a week. The lineman special can feed 2 people. I hate hush puppies, but they have changed my mind. They have the best hush puppies i have ate in my life and they are huge.

Last year I visited the restaurant and received poor service; I did not write a review and let it go. Yesterday I happened to meet the owner and relayed what happened directly to her, because I had not returned to the restaurant since. The poor service issue was not resolved, and furthermore, she informed me to not write a bad review because it would turn out bad. I asked her what she meant, and in reply she said the if I wrote a bad review, it would not turn out good for me. Let me make myself perfectly clear: I do not like being threated.

Oh man where do I start??? Family owned and operated 🙂 This place is a hidden gem beside a gas station/tackle store. The employees are all professional and well mannered as well as kind and welcoming. The owner is a delight to talk with. They seem to stay pretty constantly busy so that goes to show a place worth while coming to! The food tastes like a 5 star Michelin chef prepared it just to dance across your taste buds and delight your pallet! It’s a bit on the small side inside but *if* there was a wait, it will be WELL WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY!! Trust me just come and see what they’re all about! The bright star special has just about everything you could ask for in a hot, quickly prepared delicious breakfast meal! Try the biscuits “grilled”. Full menu is available all day as well.

Drove from NO across the little bridge over Pontchartrain, then back on the 10 towards the city. We were exploring, got hungry and were looking for breakfast. Every ruttin place we tried was closed. Didn’t want to go into the crowded city, so we took a turn on the 510 towards Chalmette and found this pretty Bright Star.
