Our server informed us lobster was currently the big thing so we ended up ordering a bunch of lobster dishes. We got the Pretzels for our appetizer, Grilled Lobster, Lobster Quesadilla, Lobster Tacos, and Parmesan Crusted Salmon for our mains. The pretzels were good. I believe they were fried as they had a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior. The dipping sauces that came with it was “meh” though (mustards I think?). Good enough to eat without it. The quesadilla was quite good. Has the typical baja style taste and seasoned well though I’m not sure I’d say lobster goes well in quesadilla form. It’s a little too “mushy” overall in my opinion compared to using meats like chicken or steak. The grilled lobster was grilled lobster. It was tender and juicy, no natural sweetness though again, well seasoned. The lobster tacos however stood out to me. While I’m not a fan of “soggy” corn tortillas, the way they do theirs here actually works. It is softer in texture and milder in taste compared to the regular run of the mill corn tortillas everyone uses. Perhaps because it’s blue corn? The crispy exterior of the tempura is a nice texture contrast to the tender juicy lobster and soft tortilla. This dish was excellent. It came with “truffle fries” but I couldn’t really taste any real truffle in it. Lastly was the parmesan salmon. While not anything super original, it was well seasoned with a moist and tender interior. The chefs here really know how to cook their seafood. I wouldn’t say anything is of the “highest quality”, but they are working very well with what they got.
Yes this Brigantine location is an easy recommendation. While it’s not exactly cheap, and the food isn’t of the highest quality, it is good for what it is. Nothing super original, just some reliable classics (some with a twist) with good execution. The icing on the cake is being able to go for a walk after your meal because the beach is right across the street!
I flew into San Diego today ✈️ and decided to try out a new beachside restaurant for lunch—and I’m so glad I did. It happened to be Taco Tuesday, so I went with three of their seafood tacos, and they were delicious —fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I didn’t care for the flour tortillas on one of the tacos because it became stale quickly, still edible, but you can tell the difference with the corn tortilla.
The place had great energy packed with people enjoying the lively vibe. There’s a large bar , plenty of booths, and both indoor and outdoor seating options, which is perfect for soaking in that coastal breeze . Even though there was some construction happening outside , it didn’t take away from the restaurant’s great ambience.
There was music playing the whole time , creating a fun, relaxed atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive . All in all, a fantastic spot to grab a bite by the beach—I would recommend it! ✅
My wife’s opinion on the macadamia crusted mahi-mahi was it was good, but not great. She however really did enjoy the tea and dessert which was the s’mores brownie. My wife says the s’mores brownie was a 12 out of 10. I thought it was maybe a 7 out of 10. Nothing that I would go out of my way to get.
Not a great first impression food wise. Service and atmosphere were five out of five though.
Service was great! Atmosphere, you almost can’t get any better with being across the street from the beach yet very clean and beautiful inside.
Food was ok. I am not a food snob by any means and I always make note of the best dishes I eat so here is my review on the food with photos. Food presentation was nice. Happy hour is available so I highly suggest that menu if you just want to sample items for your first trip or if you’re not that hungry.
1. Appetizer Calamari- very chewy. I like my calamari kind is like a bite of good steak- I did not like it.
2. Fried Artichokes- the breading was light and were fried nicely however the artichokes were mushy. I did not like this dish. I am from the Bay Area so I know what they should taste like.
3. Nachos- they were nachos. My mom liked them.
4. Potato skins – nothing fancy, they were potato skins
5. Clam Chowder- nice flavor, creamy and thick. Not the best I’ve had but would order it again for sure.
6. Swordfish tacos- Tasty- would order again
7. Fish and Chips- fish was flaky and not dry. I would order this again. Fries were good.
– Everyone at the table tried each item and consensus was reached by all on each dish.
I would def go back to this restaurant for at least the service and Atmosphere. It’s def worth a stop and you may have a difference of opinion on the food. Cheers!
Oh! One last mention… parking across the street for $2.00 only!! Huge plus in my book!! And we only had to circle the block twice before a spot opened up. But it is a small lot. Maybe we were just lucky because it was St. Patrick’s Day ☘️
The steak with blue cheese and gravy was not it!
Shrimp and grits enjoyed by the mister and he ordered the steak as well we left the take out in our airbnb, our daughter seemed to enjoy the salmon! I kept it simply with shrimp ceasar and chowder.
