Tucked just over the Devon bridge in Milford, Connecticut, at 49 Bridgeport Ave, Bridge House Restaurant serves up a warm and inviting gastropub experience with a refined twist. Since opening in December 2007, it has built a solid reputation for “fresh • local • creative” fare and thoughtful service.
Inside, the ambiance strikes a comfortable balance: welcoming and relaxed like a neighborhood pub, yet polished enough for a nice night out. There’s indoor seating, an outdoor patio, and a private dining area that can accommodate up to 80 guests.
The menu offers contemporary American cuisine with nods to classic gastropub fare—steaks, seafood, elevated comfort dishes, and seasonal specialties all feature prominently. Guests often mentio

although we showed up late for reservation due to childcare issues the staff was very accommodating which was so nice even though they were busy. all staff was just awesome, and our waitress was incredible! food was 10/10. hands down best calamari and steak frites i’ve ever had.
If you’re looking for mediocre food with a low cost menu this isn’t it . but that’s what I appreciate ! leaves the culture and clientele to classy and service to top tier. food was 5 star taste and you get what you pay for! so keep that in mind. we will def be making this our permanent date spot! Server was Lindsay! shoutout to her!

On Feburary 6,2026 I had the unique pleasure to dine at Bridge House. Bridge House delivers a confident, coastal-Italian performance that feels both polished and deeply comforting. The Swordfish Puttanesca arrives as a study in balance and restraint: a pan-seared swordfish steak with a pearlescent crust, impeccably moist within, carrying the briny swagger of Kalamata olives and capers. Cherry peppers add a bright, gentle heat that lifts the dish without overwhelming it, while a classic marinara anchors everything in savory depth. The quiet flourish is the pesto-Parmesan risotto—silky, aromatic, and patiently cooked—its herbal richness playing foil to the fish’s clean, meaty texture. Each bite reads intentional, composed, and quietly luxurious.
Dessert seals the evening with grace. The Blueberry Lemon Italian Cream Cake is precisely what it promises: moist yet crumbly, light on the palate, and perfumed with citrus. A generous blueberry compote delivers pops of jammy sweetness, while a cloud of whipped cream keeps the finish airy rather than indulgent. It’s the kind of dessert that doesn’t shout—it smiles.
Service and pacing complement the kitchen’s clarity, allowing flavors to speak without rush. Bridge House may not court spectacle, but it understands something rarer: how to make classic ideas feel inevitable. This is cooking with confidence—and it tastes like it.

Food quality / price (value) rating 10. The atmosphere is pub / tavern l. The menu is just off center from typical, with unexpected offerings, specials, Happy Hour, Brunches, and more! They offer a limited, but well chosen, number of draught heers. The food is high quality, prepared properly, and presented beautifully. Our server, Emily, was attentive, empathetic to our meeds and wishes, and made sure our experience was an excellent one. We split a Hummus / Guacamole and chips appetizer which was unique and delicious. I had the Prime Rib, that came with grilled baby green beans and mashed, and the wife had the Swordfish with a parmesan / pesto risotto that was fantastic. We finished our evening with a couple Keoke Coffees (perfectly made), and their signature dessert – a fantastic Rum Raisin Bread Pudding. The prices are below market expectations for this area. They have two other restaurants in the vicinity, and we will be eating at one of them tomorrow (“Founders”) where Dominic (the general manager) will be applying his magic. Rave ratings for this place, definitely come visit !

It’s a nice dinner spot. Space is small. Lighting is good for dates if you’re able to hear your date. The evening my family went with friends it was just loud. Not sure if it’s like that every time but I guess it’s good for the restaurant because they were booked. We did make reservations for Bridge House. I didn’t know if they were known for their seafood here but we did order 3 plates of food from their Ocean category. I must add though, we ordered a few appetizers and actually got full from them. I don’t know if it’s because our entrees took so long to come out that we finished our appetizers first, but none of us could finish our entrees. My cod fish over risotto seemed like a small dish but I couldn’t finish it. It was flavorful though. The steak was mediocre. I thought it needed to be seasoned a little bit more maybe? The lobster roll just didn’t look as appetizing compared to other lobster rolls I’ve tried in Connecticut. The crab cakes were better than other places I’ve tried. They do have a kids menu and the portions are big so if you’ve got small children, perhaps consider ordering one dish for them to share if they want the same thing.

Good local restaurant with a nice variety of food on its menu. A very good cocktail selection with fantastic drinks. The wine list also compliments the menu. The food is made-to-order and very good. The scallops special is very tasty and is served over pumpkin risotto making i a nice fall meal. The medium steak was a bit overcooked but still satisfying and the meatloaf, yes the meatloaf, gets a thumbs up! The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

The food was delicious. Waitstaff is low-key, professional (a very GOOD thing), and polite. What more could you want? Someone to chew your food for you?
My first time here. Love the low light ambience.
It was VERY NICE. Four Stars because no one’s food is “perfect”.
Add a star if it makes you feel better.
Half a mile from my house…heck yeah…I’ll be back like Schwarzenegger.
It was evening. Low lighting inside.
Romantic.

If you want a hearty meal with enough leftovers for lunch the next day, get to Bridge House. My wife and I had the stuffed chicken and meatloaf – both were excellent.
Happy to report they don’t phone in the sides. All of them were great – particularly the peas and carrots. Great service and decor, looking forward to my next dinner there.

I have to say the only thing decent tonight about this restaurant was the male hostess was super accommodating and the spinach artichoke dip. The waitress seemed to have some kind of attitude issue right from the jump. We never heard specials or soup of the day like the table behind us with a different waitress. Wine glass was dirty, she said it was bubbles umm no. Husband ordered NY strip and yet no steak knife and nobody to ask since she came back when he was almost done. Waters never refilled. My dinner looked nothing like what was described or shown as the pictures online. The shrimp was overcooked and you got 4 maybe 5. Everything was covered in some kind of greasy sauce with uncooked not blisted tomatoes, cold mozzarella chunks thrown on it. It looked like a 4 year olds art project and the actual taste (what I was able to actually eat of it) was not something I would recommend anyone to order. Check paid. No tip since she was rude and I have never in my life done that but I don’t tip for lack of service, attitude and leaving a somewhat pricey restaurant hungry. We will never be back and never recommend it.

This was a wonderful experience. We were greeted as soon as we entered. The staff had smiles on their faces and were welcoming. We were seated in a booth. The host did give us options, which was nice. We had the guacamole hummus for an appetizer and was unexpectedly delicious!
