We had a wonderful dinner at Bricks Smoked Meats. The food was great albeit very pricey for Barbecue. The atmosphere was wonderful, easy to talk without having to yell. The server was pleasant but very inattentive, I gave up and got my own beverage refill. The food was fantastic.

Absolutely horrible service, started off our waiter was pissed that there was 7 instead of 9 of us and it was very noticeable. Then wanted it all on 1 check, we got him to do a few bills. Now I know why, because he’s a horrible waiter and thats the only guaranteed tip for bad service. He’s lucky he got 10%. Never asked us how everything was, only got refills if we asked even though we all had empty glasses.
The food was disappointing, brought out 6 of 7, they kept screwing up the brisket grilled cheese and putting sauce on it when ordered without. Got it 15 min at least after everyone was almost done. He did take it off the bill, that was good. My meatloaf was 1 slice as thick as a pencil and put it over little potatoes which was supposed to be smashed and then covered in onions and gravy to hide the fact there was no meat. potatoes were cold and I made an attempt to smash them. I told our waiter and he said, yes those are smashed. Apparently he doesn’t know what smashed is. The trio we order with brisket was also so thin and dry. Not a bbq sauce fan, I like to taste the meat, not hide it with sauce. Turkey was also dry, sausage not bad. The best thing to eat was the brussel sprouts.
DEFINATELY WON’T BE BASK. It’s the type of service I would expect from a 1 star restaurant, not here.

I wanted to like Brick’s and give them an A for effort. Unfortunately, our food and service fell short of receiving a four star rating. We sat at the bar which wasn’t all that crowded. The bar was staffed with 3 bartenders that didn’t seem to have a system. After placing our drink orders we waited for some time and saw them sitting there being diluted by the melting ice. By the time they arrived I couldn’t taste any alcohol. I ordered the brisket and sausage entree. The sausage was great, the brisket was super dry and tough. We were given butter knives as cutlery which did nothing to saw through the brisket. I will say, the rib on my Bloody Mary was pretty good but we needed to ask for the burnt ends that were missing.
I would give Brick’s a 2nd chance because they have the potential to be good to great under better management.

Bricks Smoked Meat Sarasota is a fun spot with generous portions and reasonable prices. Lunch specials are well worth the trip. The side dishes are flavorful, and the full bar adds to the experience. Definitely worth a visit.

We went here with a few friends for lunch on a Friday at 1 o’clock. The service we received from our server was very subpar and we had to get the manager involved on several occasions. The server could not stop asking if we wanted some dead parrot even though I still do not know what that is nor did I want any he kept insisting on us trying it. I also asked about the Texas caviar and he basically said no it’s gross, Don’t get it. The food took quite some time to get to our table and when it arrived, the food was all very cold. On some of the orders, the sides were delivered incorrectly, and even when asked to be fixed were replaced with the wrong sides. The jalapeño jelly was not delivered with the ribs, which was one of the main reasons I ordered it on my trio. While the food tasted good, it was lukewarm at best, which made it not really an enjoyable experience. If the food was hotter, and the service was better, I would say that this could be a great establishment, but this was definitely a huge miss, even if it is regularly a hit. Also, there is only two restrooms that are used for both men and women. They are both single stalls and it was very difficult to use the restroom even on a relatively slow Friday. If it was a Saturday, it was busy, I could only imagine how difficult it would be. There was no toilet paper either when my wife went to she the restroom, she had to ask. Very disappointed when it was my suggestion to go here based on the reviews.

Great food, I haven’t had brisket since I visited Texas in 2023, and this blew my mind. It was way better than any brisket I ever tasted, the atmosphere was also fantastic, and there was great live-music. If you are in the area, I would really recommend this restaurant, We loved it !
10/10 would recommend!

I didn’t have the best experience, bartender appeared distracted and not attentive (and it was not busy), I ended up returning my food because it tasted old, my husband thought his sandwich was decent. Over priced IMO and small portions but would try it again since it has such great reviews.

The place was clean and inviting. Wanted to try their brisket and it was moist tender and perfectly done. Lots of bark… really lacking a smoke ring or any distinctive smoke flavor tho. Maybe it was just an off batch of brisket or maybe they just need to hit more smoke in the pit and more spices in the rub… the sides were really fresh and delicious. If they can get a consistent smoke and seasoning on the brisket their finished product would be on par with Texas post oak brisket. The server was kind and quick to help with any other things that we needed.

What happened to this place? This was our favorite place in Sarasota and now we will never be back. We went there couple weeks before Christmas on Sunday, around 3-4pm, place was empty but we still waited for 45 min for our food to arrive. Then we got this for our brisket? I’m sorry this is not brisket, this is some kind roast beef or something. Won’t be back and don’t recommend it

It’s not often that I get conflicted writing a review. We joined friends for a specific visit to this location as a general consensus of reviews state that they had finally found real Texas “Que” in Florida.

The first clue I should have noticed was the claim of finding Texas BBQ in Florida, right? Only one place to get Texas BBQ, and that’s in Texas, just like all these New Yorkers wanting NY pizza in Florida, ain’t gonna find it pal.

We ordered a couple starters and beverages and all were good. Blood Orange Old Fashioned caught my attention. It was decent. A little thin on the 4 Roses, but otherwise a good drink.

The Chips and Queso are ok. The Devlied eggs with Jalapeno and “Bacon Burnt Ends” aka pork belly burnt ends, are exceptionally good.

I ordered up a 2 meat with their signature Brisket (marbled) and “St Louis” ribs. First the brisket: Marbled, yes ad juicy as it should be. Tender and fall apart. BUT…no smoke ring? Had to be commercial smoke cabinet with the minimal smoke essence. Zero ring.

The three ribs bones I got were at best the small “Baby Backs”. No way these were St Louis ribs, unless mine came from the runt of the litter. Flavor was ok, not much smoke. Tender and almost fall off the bone (which I prefer the slight chew pull).

Now let’s talk sides. Pimento mac & cheese. Yes, all day every day. That’s a darn good side. The corn bread mini muffin was drier than a Texas tumbleweed. “Kickin’ Collard Greens”??? Zero kick. Zero flavor…I mean bland as bland can be for a green. My serving was nearly half stems too boot. Not good at all.

Service was ok and process fair for the times. Atmosphere is typical downtown Sarasota. So it make this rating tricky overall.

I would like to go 3.5 stars, but honestly 3 is as good as I can go here simply because it isn’t what it claims to be and with a couple exceptions, it really was mediocre at best.
