I need to share an experience that perfectly demonstrates what exceptional customer service looks like.
I placed a delivery order with Brickhouse tonight. The hostess was incredibly sweet and professional taking my order, and payment was processed without issue. Shortly after, I missed a call from the restaurant—they were calling to let me know they don’t actually offer delivery and the order was taken in error.
Here’s where it gets remarkable: By the time I called back, they had already decided to personally deliver my order anyway to honor the commitment and avoid inconveniencing us. This wasn’t about convenience for me (normally I would have just driven over to pick it up), but my car is currently out of commission.
And here’s the part that truly stands out: Perry, the owner himself, personally delivered our order. Not a staff member. Not a manager. The owner took time out of his evening to make sure we were taken care of.
What impresses me most is that they didn’t have to do this. They could have simply refunded the order and apologized. Instead, Perry chose to go above and beyond—not because they offer delivery service (they don’t), but because he valued the customer relationship and his word.
This review isn’t about the food. This review isn’t about delivery service (because they don’t deliver—and that’s perfectly fine). This is about a restaurant owner who understands customer service, integrity, and building loyalty at a fundamental level.
I don’t visit Brickhouse often, but because of this interaction, that’s going to change. This is how you earn customers for life. Thank you, Perry.
Atmosphere was meh, but we could hear each other speak, so that was good (even if the super-slide chairs had everyone re-adjusting every few seconds…lol).
The fun really started when it was time to pay the check. I set my card at the edge of the table and waited. And waited. And waited… literally 25 mins just to pick up the check!! Our server never came near the table.
The absolute BEST part though is that after that terrible experience, their little payment system offers tip options (and the server was QUICK to remind us to “select a box”!) – starting at 20% and went up from there.
I am generally a healthy tipper anyway, but for poor service, I have no qualms about dropping it down to the ACTUAL standard 15%. Not an option here.
