O-My-yaash. The food is amazing. Overlooking the river and dam. Pasta night is to die for and if you haven’t been here you are missing out.

Great experience. We sat outside by the river. The waitress was super friendly and helpful when we asked what she recommended. Tater tot pizza was great with bacon. Cheese curds were delicious. Sweet potato fries and potato wedges were very good. The ostrich burger having tried for the first time was not for us but the meat quality was good..just not a rich flavor like beef.

Every time I have a meal here, I am never disappointed. I was a long time resident of other cities and Des Moines but there is something so welcoming about this place. It brings me back time and time again. From the pizzas to the Thursday night pasta night (which you need to try immediately), you will not be disappointed. There is plenty of seating inside but what is amazing about this location is the patio which overlooks the Alden dam. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

Brickhouse Pizza: A Slice of Heaven in Alden, Iowa
If you’re looking for the kind of small-town pizza joint that feels like a warm hug from your grandma—except your grandma serves $1.50 ice-cold bottled beers on Sundays—then Brickhouse Pizza in Alden is your spot.
Let’s start with the pizza: it’s the perfect balance of crispy crust, gooey cheese, and toppings piled so high you might briefly consider using a fork (don’t you dare). Each bite feels like a celebration of carbs and happiness.
But the real star of the show? The $1.50 beers. Yes, you read that right. For the cost of a cup of coffee in the big city, you can enjoy an ice-cold brew that goes down smoother than your first high school crush. And these bottles aren’t just beers; they’re served with a smile by the best servers in Hardin County. They’ll make you feel like a VIP even if you’re wearing sweatpants.
The atmosphere? It’s that perfect mix of cozy and lively, where locals gather to share stories, laughs, and the occasional debate over whether pineapple belongs on pizza (it does, don’t fight me).
Brickhouse Pizza isn’t just a place to eat; it’s where Alden’s heart beats. So, bring your appetite, your thirst, and your best jokes because you’ll leave full, happy, and wondering how you survived before discovering this gem.
10/10—would eat, drink, and laugh here again.

Atmosphere was great. We just like the pizza at another restaurant better. Sorry guys! You are definitely 2nd on the list. But very delicious and we go green olives!

We live about 45min – hour away & have been there several times.
Food isbalways great. Service has never been bad. Would be 5 stars but sometimes refills are a bit slow… that said, I believe it’s due to how busy they are/were every time we have been there. Would be nice if there was another server. But again, no true complaints.
Never had to wait for a table, but we do get there as soon as they open.

We had the pizza and it was great. The perfect setting with a view of the Iowa River. Definitely worth a stop when road tripping on HWY 20.

We enjoy the Pasta Night regularly. Menu items are also good, especially the pizzas. Nice atmosphere with alot of items from Alden’s history as wall decor.

Got ribeye sandwich medium, came out rare. Salad bar was nonexistent, staff was ok. Girlfriends was exactly the same with a half baked potato.
