This place is insanely good. Brick and Dough has mastered the difficult art of a perfect restaurant — incredible food, attentive service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to hang out all night. My husband and I are huge foodies with high standards, and this is some of the best pizza we have ever had. Their smashburger is so good that we no longer order smashburgers anywhere else. The garlic knots, cheesy bread, poutine, cheesesteaks, and every other menu item we’ve tried are phenomenal. The manager, Mike, is wonderful and goes above and beyond expectations. I can’t remember ever writing a review for a restaurant, but felt compelled given how outstanding our experience continues to be each time we visit. A true gem in Montclair!

We recently visited Brick & Dough in Montclair on Sunday afternoon and were seated quickly. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and they were very helpful in explaining the menu since it was our first time visiting.
We really enjoyed the food. We ordered Mike’s Pizza, which had a nice chili kick, and the crunchy Brussels sprouts were especially delicious. Overall, we were very happy with both the taste and the service.
The restrooms were clean, and the overall experience was great. I imagine there may be a wait in the evening. Parking is paid street parking and can be a little difficult to find.
We will definitely be visiting again.

I cannot speak more highly of this place. It wins on all levels: food, service, and atmosphere. The pizza is probably the best I’ve ever had. My family and I are huge pizza snobs, always looking for the greatest pizza around town. We’ve tried so many places but nothing compares to Brick & Dough. The dough is so delicious- it is almost chewy yet still charred but doesn’t scrape your mouth like other crusts that are more burnt (which I hate). The sauce, the sauce. OMG. What is in that sauce?? I tell them every time we go there (which is every Friday), to please bottle up your marinara and sell it. I mean it’s the most amazing thing you’ll ever taste. Period. We always get a plain pie and white pie, and always try out their seasonal pies which are insane! For starters the cheese bread sticks with that YUMMM-marinara sauce is so so good. The arancini is packed with flavor. So delish. Honestly I think everything we try there has been a hit.
Now about the staff, where do I begin? These guys are all a group of highly trained professionals! Every single person my family and I have interacted with at Brick & Dough is super pleasant and kind. There is one individual in particular that I want to shout out here. His name is Mike, the manager at B&D. This guy is the definition of what a true leader should be in any company, restaurant, or organization. He is the kindest, most professional person we have ever met. The way he manages this restaurant and his staff, and then finding time to greet me and my family and share laughs…I cannot tell you how much joy it brings us (especially to our 2 year old daughter). Every week she cannot wait until Friday comes around because she knows it’s Brick & Dough time. And as soon as we walk in the first thing she says is “where’s Mike?”!! He is not your average manager….he is a rockstar leader. I hope Brick & Dough leadership reads this and recognizes this individual. And Mike if you are reading this, thank you. Thank you for all that you do. And see you again, next Friday 😉

First time here. We were greeted when we arrived, but no one explained the seating process, so we weren’t sure what to do and ended up waiting about 20 minutes for a table with little communication.
Once seated, our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The pizza was great! it came out fast and clearly made with quality ingredients. The crust had a great texture, exactly the way I like it. The flavors were well balanced and fresh. Everything tasted well prepared and worth the wait.
The lack of communication at the start could definitely be improved, but the food and service at the table made for a great experience overall.

Empty on a Saturday afternoon so we were seated immediately for lunch. They had a variety of seating, and luckily we were seated at a table near the garage doors so there was a lot of natural lighting. We ordered the mikes pizza, which had chili oil and scallions, as well as their margherita. The mikes pizza wasn’t very spicy, just a touch. The margherita’s sauce was fresh tasting and quite nice. The crust tasted good as well, but it was so soggy. Not the best pizza I’ve had but not the worst. I did like their use of compostable straws, made of pasta! Very cool.

Great pizza, tasty and nice chew on dough, and they didn’t skimp on the pepperoni. Liked the flexibility to order exactly how many cheese sticks and garlic knots you want, which works great with kids. The Philly cheese tots were very good, they really packed on the meat, but it could’ve used more cheese. Service was nice and attentive too. BYOB. Will be back.

Unfortunately we arrived in a Friday night at 8pm and had to order takeout. The pizzas were done quickly enough but we had to wait 10-15 min more for the Caesar salad. This meant that the pizzas went back under a heater in cardboard boxes, which frankly made the pizzas soggy by the time we got home. They were tasty with a good flavor (we got the meatball and the fig with goat cheese) and lovely chewy crust but definitely not optimal. Also the Caesar salad was one of the worst I’ve ever had. No fresh Parmesan but powdered cheese. The romaine in tiny thin slices so it didn’t feel at all substantial. The croutons were also small. The dressing seemed homemade with a lemony flavor which I liked. Quite expensive as others mentioned.

Definitely make reservations in advance! We can here on a Friday and had a 1 hour wait which was easy to do given the area. We ordered a few pies – loved the eggplant parm. We had a gluten free pizza with jalapeños and man they were so spicy!! Service was great and an easy setting to talk to friends and family. Coming back!

I have recently tried Brick & Dough for the first time and I was really impressed. We tried the ruby’s marinara pie and the vodka sauce pie. They were both really good, but I wish the vodka sauce pie had more sauce, as it mostly just tasted like cheese. The ruby’s pie was incredible and i really enjoyed the garlic marinara sauce. The highlight of the night we’re definitely the garlic knots. They were one of the best i have had, and i cannot recommend enough, as well as the side of stracciatella which was amazing! The service was super on point and attentive. I will definitely be back.

We’ve been coming to brick + dough for a long time now and it is by far our favorite pizza place. The crust is always perfect crisp and soft at the same time. Their menu has been growing and everything we try tastes delicious.
