Probably the best deli food in the Los Angeles area. All of the food was delicious but I especially loved the pickles and steak fries! I’m not a fan of chicken soup personally, but my partner says that this is where you can get the absolute best matzo ball soup ever. If you’ve been wanting to try Brent’s Deli don’t hesitate and try all of their tasty eats as soon as possible!

If you’re looking for the quintessential New York-style deli experience in Southern California, look no further than Brent’s Deli in Northridge. This establishment is a legendary institution for a reason, consistently voted one of the best delicatessens in Los Angeles by publications like the LA Times and Zagat Survey. Walking in, you immediately feel the welcoming, old-school atmosphere—it’s a place where every customer truly feels like family.
The convenience of the location, including the ample on-site parking lot, makes visiting easy, even during busy weekend rushes. But the real reason people keep coming back for 50+ years is the food.
The menu is a massive celebration of Jewish deli classics, boasting over 650 items. You simply must try the Black Pastrami Reuben. It’s Brent’s signature sandwich and frequently cited as one of the best in the city. Layered with perfectly peppered, hand-sliced pastrami, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing on their famous double-baked rye, it’s a towering masterpiece that lives up to the hype. If you prefer corned beef or brisket, rest assured they are prepared with the same level of care and quality.
Beyond the incredible sandwiches, don’t miss the comforting homemade favorites. The Matzo Ball Soup is a legendary soul-soother, served with a fluffy, lightly textured matzo ball in rich, flavorful chicken broth. Other must-try items include the crispy Potato Latkes (served with sour cream and apple sauce) and their delicious baked goods, like the iconic Black & White Cookie.
From the enormous portions that guarantee leftovers to the friendly, attentive service that makes you feel right at home, Brent’s Deli Northridge offers an unmatched combination of quality, tradition, and culinary excellence. It’s more than just a meal; it’s a true taste of L.A. deli history.

August 2025:
Second time visiting this place and really enjoyed my pastrami sandwich.
Last time, I had the pastrami sandwich and thought it was one of the best I’ve had. So naturally, I had to have it again! I wasn’t disappointed. Last time I had the half sandwich and the Matzo ball soup. It was delicious . This time, I wanted to have a salad so I get some vegetables.
Super delicious sandwich! Paired with pickles, coleslaw and a salad, I was very happy .
Service was friendly and attentive. Would definitely come back again.

Brent’s Deli is a fantastic alternative to Langer’s in Los Angeles, while pound for pound, Langer’s tastes better, gives you more for your money while still maintaining an incredible high quality taste. And I’m just referring to Reuben sandwiches of course. But the other delights from breakfast to dessert are just so tasteful and recommend it. The staff are welcoming and kind.

First time eating here. A favorite for many of my friends. Amazing service with a classic American diner atmosphere. Didn’t have a chance to try the deli items but will indulge next time. Ate the Super Omelet which was good with half an avocado on top!

Ordered the Black Pastrami Rueben and it was fantastic! So juicy and tender! Great sized portions, steak fries were good and the bagel chips with cream cheese were a good starter while we waited for the sammies. Was told to order an eclair, which we did but had to take home. Those were huge! Going to have to try it again next time I’m back home visiting.

OMG…..!!! Our 1st time here. Let me just say that I’ve been to Canter’s many, many, many times. Thats very very good. Without a doubt. We’ve even been to Billy’s Deli (Before it closed 10yrs ago ) waaaaay back in the day when it was still opened. That was very very good as well. But Brent’s?.?.? OMG! Hands down our new best place. We come from San Gabriel, so it a bit of a drive thru L.A. traffic. We will absolutely be making the trek much more often. Much more indeed! We had the eggs benedict, the chicken wrap, the Monte Cristo sandwich, and the 555 sandwich. Those were our choices. Absolutely excellent. I hope you find this helpful, and enjoy as my family and I did.

The 555 sandwich is hands down my favorite sandwich of all time! Nothing comes close! My son ordered the rueben pastrami and he loved it! The only downside to this place is the french fries. They totally lacked flavor. Worst fries i ever had in my life. Regardless of how bad the fries were i will never stop coming here. The sandwiches are the BOMB.COM

WOW. Best deli in Soithern California! It was 11am when my uncle and I showed up to eat. The place was packed. It looks like they have around 30 to 40 tables and we were fortunate a couple were available to sit down right away without waiting. Within a minute or two we had water and coffee and menus. The menu is huge. 3 or 4 pages with so many choices. But a Rueben sandwich caught my eye and thats what I ordered. We ordered our food within a couple of minutes and had our food within a couple minutes after that. It was the best Rueben I had ever eaten. I think there was at least a quarter pound of pastrami along with a lot of sauerkraut, cheese, and dressing on rye cooked to perfection. It was amazing. It came with great coleslaw and fries although I switched up the fries with potatoe salad. What a fantastic meal with impeccable service and I love it when a restaurant is packed with people obviously enjoying their food also.

Brent’s was recommended by a coworker and I was not disappointed. The pastrami on rye bread had different seasoning that I was not used to on other pastrami sandwiches . Definitely recommend getting the juice that comes with it to dip your sandwich in. Overall, very good and unique.
