Easy to find, laid back, small town diner. Chicken Fried Steak and chicken were very good, as well as the gravy. Fried okra: perfect. Enjoyed the salad and green chili cheese soup. Nice cozy feel and decor. But maybe the best part is the people, super friendly staff and management make you feel welcome! Recommended stop whether you are passing through or visiting nearby.

Wonderful experience!!! We had 11 in our party and called ahead about 15min- they got us in promptly! Kept coffee refilled, breakfast was GREAT, and service was phenomenal! We had omelets, chicken fried stale & eggs, and my favorite- the pecan waffle!!!!
For 11 of us (big eaters too!) the total was $170- so not too bad.

I came for the Chicken Fried Steak, and it did not disappoint!
The hand-breaded okra was delicious. The rolls are spectacular. Corn nuggets are delicious too.
The homemade desserts looked great, but i didn’t have any room for them.
The food and service are well worth the drive from Durango!! You will go home full and happy.
In November, they will serve dinner on Friday & Saturdays.

A Hidden Gem with Old West Charm
We had a delightful experience at Brenda’s Old West Cafe in Bayfield Colorado. The service was incredibly friendly, and we even had the pleasure of chatting with a local family who frequents the place. “This is where it’s at,” the matriarch assured us, and she wasn’t wrong.
The burgers were delicious—hearty and packed with flavor. My husband ordered his burger à la carte and I did the Red, White & Blue (red onion, bacon & blue cheese.) When I accidentally spilled the milk for my tea, the wait staff were understanding and gracious, helping me wipe the table and overall making us feel right at home.
The restaurant’s old west decor & vibe adds to its charm, and the menu is full of creative cowboy-rancher names that make choosing a dish even more fun. It’s the perfect family spot, offering wholesome, homemade food in a welcoming atmosphere.
Our food came a bit late as the place was mobbed due to the holidays. A little surprise at the and of our meal was from our thoughtful waitress who gave us a discount for our patience. It was not requested but very much appreciated so we gave her a generous New York tip!
Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area—Brenda’s is a true taste of the Old West!

While getting oil change across the street, we decided to stop in for a late lunch. My husband got the club sandwich and fried okra. I got the chicken fried steak with fried okra & fried zucchini. Everything was delicious! We will definitely stop here again if in the area.

First time here. Very nice people and good atmosphere. If you like very very large onion rings, try their homemade onion rings. They were delicious. We ordered the large and 5 of us couldn’t eat them all.

Great lunch, was greeted by Brenda herself, and her granddaughter waited on us. The chicken fried chicken was delicious, mash potatoes with gravy and spinach were equally enjoyed. Sweet was freshly brewed and the Key Lime Pie made in house was a nice finish. Definitely worth having a meal or two when in the area
