It’s got a nice lake view, and the food during lunch was delicious. I had the queso burger, and it was on point with the flavors. Customer service was great, and there were plenty of parking spots too.

The only downside was that they need better napkins, and the restrooms were really disappointing with a horrible urine smell.

My wife and I stopped into Breakwater Grill & Cantina after I wrapped up a job, and I’ve got to say—it was one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. I ordered the queso burger with fries and ceviche, and every bite was outstanding. The burger was juicy and flavorful, the fries were perfectly seasoned, and the ceviche was fresh and packed with flavor.

My wife went with the buffalo chicken sandwich, and she loved it—crispy, spicy, and absolutely delicious.

On top of the great food, the service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and quick. And to make it even better, the views from the restaurant were beautiful, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.

We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend Breakwater Grill & Cantina if you’re looking for amazing food, great service, and a perfect spot to relax.

After spending a wonderful day at the lake with my family, we were eager to enjoy a nice dinner and decided to try this restaurant, drawn in by its beautiful view. While the scenery was indeed a highlight, the overall experience fell short of our expectations.

The entrée portions were disappointingly small, more like child-sized servings at other establishments, and the food itself was average at best, lacking any real care or passion in its preparation. Unfortunately, the service didn’t make up for it either, as we felt overlooked and underappreciated throughout our meal.

If you’re looking for a place where you truly get your money’s worth in terms of both quality and service, I’d recommend exploring other options.

One of a kind place on the water at Canyon Lake. Has the fun and casual atmosphere of a tiki bar. I had grilled shrimp – it was excellent (with tiki bar expectations) and a glass of wine. The outdoor bar had the game on – Page and Julia were both very attentive. Football, view of water, good food – insane that this place is not more popular!

Probably the sweetest waitress we’ve ever had! It was a really hot day but she went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable on the patio, and even brought a whole bowl of ice water for our dog! Another gentleman came over and brought us a little fly fan for our table to make sure no bugs bothered us. Overall incredible customer service and food was good too. We absolutely loved it.

Came in for Dinner on a Friday, wanted to sit outside to enjoy the sunset. We we’re seated in the only area that has no fans or misters when they were at less than 50% capacity and just roasted. Our server was working both inside and outside and we almost never saw her for the above stated reasons. The drinks tasted horribly watered down in comparison to the previous establishment at this location and the food was not only poor presented, but absolutely not worth the price. I would recommend just about any other place on the lake.

**★☆☆☆☆ Absolutely Horrible – Avoid at All Costs**

Breakwater Cafe is hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. If you’re thinking of stopping here—DONT! Turn around and save yourself the frustration, the attitude, and quite possibly food poisoning.

Let’s start with the Service, or rather, the complete lack of it. The place claims to have “open seating,” which sounds like it should be convenient—but here’s the catch: nobody actually comes to take your order. You sit down, wait, and eventually a scowling waitress will saunter over just to tell you, “You know you have to go outside and order at the bar.” No sign, no explanation, just a side of condescension with your confusion. It’s ridiculous.

And let’s talk about that bar—it’s outside. In the blazing heat. So now you’re sweating in line to order food from a place that clearly couldn’t care less about your comfort or your time.

As for the staff, they’re shockingly rude. Eye rolls, sarcastic tone, zero hospitality. It’s like you’re inconveniencing them just by showing up. They act like they’re doing you a favor by even acknowledging your existence. I don’t know who trained them—or if anyone even bothered—but they’re some of the most unprofessional people I’ve ever encountered in the service industry.

All in all, Breakwater Cafe is a total joke. Bad service, rude staff, awful food, and a setup that makes no sense. If you value your time, your money, and your health—**stay far away.**

I love this place. Working from home I need a break from the same walls so I decided to take my work and enjoy the view and have some amazing shrimp why being waited on by the best waitress Kara! The chips and salsa also hit the spot. The white caps on the water looked so pretty. I give it a 10 out of 10.

Well my wife and I wanted a nice lunch with a view of the water so we thought we’d try this place for the first time. Unfortunately, one time is enough. The place could be better. It has a nice view of the water and the live music was really good, but the food was just food, neither good or bad just something to fill you up. They gave me someone else’s order and I had to wait for about 5 minutes with it before they took it back and switched it. The service was really bad, they didnt bring me any ketchup for my fries and when they did they brought to many cups of it? I had my whole meal without anything to drink because we were overlooked. When I got a beer I was already done with my burger. This place is definitely a one and done for us.

Came across this place after our drive from New Braunfels and decided we could stop in for a nice cold margarita and enjoy the view! I was so excited because I looked up the place before we went in and saw some pictures. Definitely looked great and refreshing. Walked into the Cantina straight to the bar. Stood there still excited because with the New Braunfels heat and humidity a cold margarita would have been perfect! The bar tenders/waitresses walked up to the bar, made eye contact, and were making orders for others (understandable) so we waited and waited. Realized if you sit down they go up to you. Cool! We picked a spot with a view of the Marina area and again waited waited waited and even waited some more. But guess what……….NOTHING. They walked up and down and all around and not one person asked us if we needed service but helped everyone else around us. They saw us and passed us up NUMEROUS times. We eventually got tired of waiting and decided screw this place! Sucks to say and or think but was it because we didn’t look like everyone else there!? I guess we’ll never know and or be able to review the nice cold margarita that I thought I was going to enjoy on this beautiful Saturday afternoon. ‍♀️ Thanks though! 9/29/2025 between 2pm-3pm
