Breaking bread is one of my favorite breakfast spots in the city. Their omelettes are amazing, their portions are huge and everything is fresh. The staff is great, everyone is friendly and I really enjoy when I get to come have a breakfast here. They have great weekly and seasonal specials as well that are always changing.

ATTENTION!! If you’re ever in Ellwood City, whether you’re passing through or staying at Mines & Meadows for the weekend, this is a place you have to try. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by friendly, proud staff and the smell of incredible food.
Their home-ground seasoned sausage, secret pancake mix, locally fresh-baked bread, and local coffee truly set them apart — you won’t find food made like this just anywhere. We chose this spot based only on their pictures and were more than pleased with both the food and the service.
Five stars, and we might just make the drive back just for the Gypsy toast!

Absolutely delightful breakfast experience!
From the moment we sat down, the service was warm and welcoming. We ordered the pancakes and the stuffed French toast, and both were absolutely phenomenal. The pancakes were fluffy, golden, and topped with just the right amount of butter and powdered sugar — simple but perfect. The French toast was next level — loaded with strawberries and piled high with whipped cream, it was indulgent in the best way possible.
What really stood out was the kindness of our waitress. I asked about the biscuits, and even though they don’t normally sell them individually, she brought us a couple anyway — completely unprompted and incredibly thoughtful. That small gesture alone made our morning. And for the record, those biscuits were heavenly — soft, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth good.
It’s rare to find a place where both the food and the people make you feel so at home. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend if you’re anywhere near Ellwood City!

Such an amazing atmosphere and amazing people there from the server to the cooks into when you’re checking out to pay your bill it’s amazing I don’t know how many times I’m going to stay amazing but it’s a beautiful place Love the rustic look inside to bring back kind of like an old diner vibe.
Breakfast is extremely a good no matter what you order from the simplest breakfast to something that’s on a special menu even if it’s on the special menu you better make sure you try it because you never know if that will ever come back again.
We were in the area for the weekend at a gathering and we had a return to breaking breaf for the first time in 2 years as we bragged about this place for so long since we were finally back in the area we had to come back for breakfast and we brought our friends with too.

I was looking for brunch and this place did the trick! I had French toast bacon and home fries. Everything was wonderful the waitstaff were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant itself is a great diner vibe. The owner walked around and treated everyone. They had a classic black and white movie playing in the background. They really make you feel like home in this restaurant very welcoming and warm in all interactions. I throughly enjoyed this place even as a solo diner.

The food was absolutely delicious! My friend and I had their specials and split them. Strawberry pretzel waffle and a french toast sandwich. Both were yummy! Our server was very nice too!

Yes, you need to go here. The homemade breakfast sausage alone is worth it. Food is great, staff is awesome!

The food was great but the service was even better! My server, (Think her name was Rochelle) a younger woman with black curly hair, was absolutely delightful. Will absolutely return and I definitely recommend eating here

While visiting relatives in Ellwood City, they recommended Breaking Bread for breakfast. They weren’t wrong! I had the Breaking Benedict – the traditional dish, which was done to perfection and served with hash browns that were subtly spiced and utterly delicious! My wife had a sumptuous three-egg omelette with mushrooms, spinach, and Swiss cheese, served with two hefty slices of marbled rye toast. The coffee was “diner perfect,” and came with frequent refills. Delightful decor and friendly people completed the perfect breakfast experience!
