Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch at Shelley’s. I had one of those unexpected, “let’s just stop here” brunch moments at Breakfast at Shelly’s, and wow — this is exactly why I love exploring neighborhood spots.

Tucked into Allentown on the Hilltop of Pittsburgh, Shelly’s has that classic, old-school diner heart. It’s the kind of place that feels like it’s been part of the community forever, even though it opened in 2016 when Shelly brought her family’s diner roots to the neighborhood. You can feel that history the minute you walk in — cozy, welcoming, and genuinely local.

I stopped in for brunch and ordered their burger on a Dutch crunch roll topped with onions, mushrooms, and a perfectly fried egg. Absolute comfort food heaven — messy in the best way, rich, savory, and satisfying. I also tried the soup of the day, and it completely surprised me. Homemade, flavorful, and the kind of soup you’d hope for on a chilly Pittsburgh day.

But honestly, what made it special wasn’t just the food. It was the people. Warm smiles, friendly conversation, that easy “sit and stay awhile” vibe. The staff treated me like a regular even though it was my first visit. Those little touches make all the difference.

This isn’t just breakfast — it’s the kind of neighborhood place you start craving again the minute you leave. Definitely somewhere I’ll keep coming back to.

One bite and I’m done. This place sucks! Stale bread, bacon not crispy, home-fries to taste so bad… worst breakfast I’ve ever had I’d rather it holiday inn breakfast O’Leary’s way better

I love this little spot!! The prices are very fair and the food is always good. Getting a sit down breakfast for less than $10 is rare these days, even at a diner. The Yinzer is our go to breakfast for only $7 here. We just tried the steak bagel that comes with deliciously seasoned home fries for $10. They have a good variety of lunch items as well. The Reuben with onion rings is my go to lunch order. There’s nothing fancy about this place, just good food and friendly staff. All I could ask for. Highly recommend.

It’s a small quaint dinner with not a lot of seating. However, the food is excellent. We have never had anything bad here. The prices are great as well.

First of walking in the atmosphere is like a whole diner, not the best looking, but I just knew by the appearance it was gonna be good. The nice lady welcome me, she’s sweet love her and she’s hilarious. She help me out by picking out a deal because I want a little bit of everything and it was so delicious as you can see. I cleared my plate. I’m a little person abd finished all my food. and I love all old school diner food is taste just like if he was to cook it with your momma! The food was so good. I’m definitely coming back to my boyfriend and sister because we love old diner food!! The best part is it’s affordable thank you so much. I found this place off of Google.

Terrific. Well worth the drive through pittsburghs oldest hillside neighborhoods. Owners clearly have a lot of pride. Wide open, very clean restrooms, great food and service. Servers were the best in the ‘burgh.

Good service clean tables. The pancakes were excellent as was the Mexican quesadilla. Good waffle. It is cash only but there is an ATM inside so just be prepared for that. They were out of blueberries and just about every flavor of milkshake. That was a bit disappointing but otherwise pleased. Seriously good fries.

Shelly’s is a timeless dining experience. It’s like eating at your mom’s…only better! Kielbasa sandwich is delish and authentic. Home fries are simply the best. Off the beaten path and so worth the trip!
