My daughter recommended this place. Seems like a popular spot considering the lunch crowd. Had the build your own with Turkey, Ham, and Salami. I don’t usually like my bread toasted, but it wasn’t bad. I’d give it a 3.5 out of 5. Still haven’t had a better sandwich than Taste Tickler.

Got the chubby puggy on dutch crunch bread and bf got the don’t strami along. Both were absolutely incredible. The chubby puggy was perfectly balanced. I can’t wait to come back. Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere ♡

Hands down Break Bread is my favorite shop in all of Portland. Their bread is amazing and their sandwich options, in particular the sauces, truly stand out. They can get very busy at lunch so I recommend ordering online a head of time. Also as a first time visitor I did get lost as I didn’t expect a sandwich shop inside of a building that appears to be a bank; just follow the smell of sandwiches.

Stopped in for a pastrami sandwich (there are 3 different varieties of pastrami sandwiches – we got The Goods) and it was delicious. The bread was fresh and the pastrami was delicious. The sandwich comes cold by default, but we asked them to heat the pastrami, which made it even tastier.
The staff was very friendly. The sandwich shop is located on the bottom floor of the U.S. Bank building, with indoor as well as outdoor seating plus some bench seating in the lobby/common space. It feels a little more corporate than so many Portland eateries (more cool, hip, funky). We took our sandwiches around the corner to 40 Lbs. Coffee, which has a much cooler, cozier interior since we were getting coffee to go with our sandwich.
But overall, still a great sandwich spot.

I really like this sandwich place and I think they’re very generous with their toppings. One thing I wish they offered is red bell peppers instead of green. I have a food sensitivity and can’t eat green bell peppers.
Overall, I love this place & the Dutch crunch bread and Jimmy pesto is my favorite sandwich!!

Amazing sandwiches every time!! Crispy bread, delicious combos, and super quick.
It’s a lot more cost effective to select one of their curated sandwiches than building your own.
I’ve tried their gluten free bread before and it was so good that I had to double check with them that it was indeed gluten free

Sandwiches are amazing. Lots of variety and vegetarian options. Service can be slower (I value quality over speed) so I recommend ordering ahead if you’re in a hurry. The layout is a little wonky and the place could use a refresh and some repairs.

I’m a huge turkey fan and got a #1. It was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. The bread was soft inside and crispy outside. Perfect ratio of ingredients. The flavors were savory and delicious. I am so excited to come back to Portland just to try the “Someone on the blazers.” And on top of everything; the staff is the absolute sweetest. Go. Now!

I love break bread so much I moved up from the Bay Area and struggled for years to find good sandwiches on dutch crunch in Portland and they are doing it flawlessly here! I bring all my friends and family when they visit because it’s my favorite sandwich spot in PDX by far. Thank you all so much, appreciate you!! ♥️

I was so hungry the first time I tried them, I actually shed tears at how friggen delicious it was. Then I had it again when I was just normal hungry to make sure it wasn’t hysteria… it’s not. It’s just so good. I’m deeply invested in maintaining my access to the Chubby Puggy so y’all better get in there and support this business so they stick around. Best sandwich in town, by far. East Side Deli severely pales in comparison to this. Mmmm it’s really the little things in these trying times and a really good sandwich? ✨ that’s the lords work.
