Today my daughter and her 2 young children met up with rudest women behind the counter at Breadsmith. They did nothing to create a warm, bakery environment. Not helpful…not one bit. Rude comment about my family from another staff member who was on the phone…come on, common courtesy for a toddler, infant and happy paying adults…that’s all we ask for. They have lost my business.

No issues with the people worki g there but I did purchase a Zucchini bread in which I asked for 1 without nuts since I am allergic to them. I opened it up this morning and my husband pointed out it had walnuts and it was not labeled that it had nuts. This can be very bad for people with nut allergies. I will be going back to let them know and hopefully get one without nuts.

This place is truly magical and it will be an experience you never forget. These artisans take pride in making the freshest bread I’ve ever had. The friendly staff are more than willing to educate you about the products and help you choose from their vast offering. Jennifer and Kathy are the best at taking care of me and my folks. Just be warned you will become spoiled by this bread and no longer be able to just get a loaf at the store.

I went today and the experience was seriously wonderful. You can see into the back area and what do you see? Just huge bags and bags of different flours, and mixers, and ovens! It’s a real for real bakery making stuff fresh and amazing from scratch, not just baking what they get in from corporate. I got two loaves of sourdough from actual sourdough starter, chocolate banana bread, and other assorted treats. Everything was phenomenal! Highly recommend!

I so love their unfrosted cinnamom rolls! My grandfather, a wonderful baker, made small versions of these. Also, I like their rye and challah bread. I hope one day to find pumpernickel!

I also experienced the same interaction with the same person when I walked into the shop. She looked miserable and was very rude. I used to shop at the Northbrook location and was excited to see the st charles location. One thing I loved about Breadsmith was that you were offered sample of their featured bread. I asked if they had any scones which is on the menu. She rudely said no and I asked when they would be available. She said when the manager felt like it. I understand the pandemic changed everything but it should not have changed how you are treated when you walk in the door. Unfortunately I have been encountering this more and more. I came in from Elgin for this.

There is currently a miserable woman working in your bakery. My family has always enjoyed goods from the Breadsmith, and it breaks my heart to expirience such rude and indecent behavior this Labor Day weekend. We will not be returning to the Breadsmith, and I will advise everyone I know to stop visiting the Breadsmith. The good people of Geneva and St Charles deserve better.
