Casual place from an acclaimed baker for Italian breads, pizza & sandwiches; drinks are BYO.

I love coming here whenever I’m in the Heights because there’s always something new on the menu. If you’re grabbing a bite around lunchtime, you cant beat the focaccia and sandwiches– but the rotating soups/stews on the menu are like a hidden gem. If you come earlier, get one of their delicious cappuccinos and a sampling of pastries. Pictured is a brioche filled with fresh ricotta and lemon curd. Just perfect!

Arrived to find the line already out the door, which was unexpected. I decided to wait, and it took about 45 minutes to order. I got a sandwich, pizza, salad, and a few pastries. Seating was limited—just a few spots outside in front of the store. Inside, there’s also a small Italian grocery section.
The sandwich was good, the focaccia itself was nice, but it didn’t have much meat and still cost $18, which felt overpriced. The pastries were disappointing, and overall I’m not sure the experience was worth the long wait and high prices. I might come back during a less busy time just to grab a sandwich again, but not for the pastries.

I’m hanging my hat firmly that this is the best cappuccino in town.
Solid spot in the neighborhood serving real Roman style pizzas. Pastries are traditional Italian bakery offerings and the sandwiches are what I like most. I find it funny that people complain about the prices of sandwiches on reviews, not realizing the high quality ingredients in front of them. From the olive oil to the prosciutto, it’s best in class.
The bread (when available) is delicious.
It’s a little quirky with the days they are open and how pizza is only available after 1 but that adds to the allure.
Would highly recommend but be aware of when certain foods are available depending on what you are looking for

Omg incredible experience! I live in the Heights and love how conveniently close this unique eatery is to our place. My partner and I come here pretty often to pickup food; they had a special today – bread with a puree of tiny fish and spicy tomato sauce. It was incredible – a spicy flavor explosion in my mouth!! Overall, the quality of everything on their menu is exceptional. I always keep coming back for their specials. If you appreciate an eatery that prioritizes nuanced and deep flavors + quality above all else, this is your place and is money well spent!

Got a prosciutto & mozzarella sandwich…literally tasted exactly like a sandwich I had in Italy. So delicious. Bread was perfectly crispy, mozzarella & prosciutto super fresh and soft…honestly exceeded my expectations a LOT.

Bread and Salt = Fat and Happy! The focaccia is simply phenomenal and the bread, donuts, pastries and house-made Italian desserts are fantastic. You might spend a bit of money but it’s well worth the quality of ingredients and the care taken with the baking process.

I don’t know what they put into their stuff, but truly every time we have gone, we are very satisfied. The bombolini, focaccia, tortas – all so good, flavorful & well seasoned. Kind staff with great recommendations. Even my harshest critics have loved everything I’ve brought home from here!

A shining light in a sea of death. This area is not a good place to eat or drink. Sub par food, terrible ambience, I sincerely do not understand how business can stay afloat here with such mediocre food.
Except this place. Amazing donuts and high quality goods. The lunch takes forever to come out and is meh. The metrics are also weird. You have 5 people in front while only 2 in the back cooking?
They’re open fri-sun, limited time slot, usually long lines but it’s worth it. The coffee, pastries, and ingredients are high quality. They just need to fix their service and signage (don’t know what the hell things are sometimes) and they will continue to be a Goliath in the dearth desert known as jersey city heights.

We went before the store opened and waited 20 min in line. Got a mortadella sandwich, arugula tomato and mozzarella sandwich, and a large struffoli for the holiday. On the menu, the small struffoli was $13, but it was apparently sold out (store had been open 10 mins.. ) so I said ok I’ll get the large one. She rung me up and total was $75 for two sandwiches and a struffoli. Apparently the struffoli was $45.. pretty ridiculous. Sandwiches were delicious but so minimal for the price… mortadella sandwich was $14 for mortadella + olive oil + bread. No cheese, nothing. I know this place is famous and the chef is wonderful, the food is delicious but these prices are ridiculous. Glad we tried it but we won’t be back.

The best in the business. The attention to detail is extraordinary. They bring in the top ingredients and a staff to match. There can be a line but well worth it. Good things come
To those who wait. Thanks to Nick, Alberto, Paul, Rick and anyone I missed
