i am vegetarian so i wasn’t expecting much, but ONE bite down on the mozzarella sandwich and i was hooked up! Thin crust crunchy outside kinda focccacia, the olive spread is so good! i love sprouts on a sandwich, to make it even better there was the mozzarella, pickled onions and avocado, the chips that i bought the 1st time were also 10/10, came back today and they’re sold out, no wonder ✨ And on top of that, the guys that served me here were so hot, i almost bought another sandwich
Will definitely come back as this is now my sandwich spot in the neighborhood, only thing i wish they had and hopefully my wish comes true, is a little desert sweet bite love this place.

Popular sandwich shop located in Santa Monica. Known for their delicious sandwiches that have fresh, high-quality ingredients. Their star of the show is their focaccia bread. I wasn’t a fan of my sandwich order but I’d love to come back and try other sandwiches. Their staff was so sweet and their inside area has seating.

What I ordered:
-calabrian turkey: 5/10, just way to much lettuce and not enough meat in my opinion.
-focaccia bread: 10/10, so crunch and soft with a good fluffiness, great flavor, baked fresh everyday

The calabrian turkey has rc provision roast turkey breast, hoods 1 year chedder, iceburg lettuce and calabrian mayo.

Finally got around to trying Bread Head. I see what the hype is about. The bread is really good the focaccia isn’t too thick and it has a nice fluffiness to it. All the sandwhich options are great too and they service is quick and great. They have a nice outside areas to eat and they also have some good sauces to go with sandwiches as well. Def worth a try if you’re in the area.

Definitely one of top 3 sandwich places in west LA. Super friendly service and good price with a decent portion. Recomend not to go around lunch hour, would be a long queue. Loved their bread and spicy olive spread that give lots of uniqueness to their sandwich

Calabrian turkey was very good! Vanilla ice coffee was very good! Muffaleta was not my thing but if you love olives it would be your thing.

Great sandwich shop! Lots of delicious options and they have daily specials during the week. My personal favorite is the turkey pesto sandwich. The club sauce is delicious and definitely a must try! High recommend:)

Ordered the whole Combo Grinder & Muffaletta to go. Huuuge portions, had each half halved (so cut into quarters) & each half wrapped separately. Pricey, but the size of their whole sandwiches are definitely two portions worth, & the bread was very good. Initially wasn’t sure about the thinness of the bread, but it held up well to the sauces & moisture of the Grinder & also made it easy to get a full bite of everything in one bite. We had not seen a muffaletta on any sandwich shop’s menu outside of the south, so that was cool to see. Wish we tried the Arnold Palmer, would have been a perfect combo.
We went on a Tuesday evening around 5:15pm & there was plenty of parking in the lot behind the storefront & the place was empty.

Best sandwich north of Wilshire!

Believe me, the LA Times, or The NY Times, Bread Head is bringing its A-game to the west side.

Clever creations on your favorite classic sandwich’s, made between their signature fluffy yet crunchy focaccia bread.

The portions are huge, the half was more than enough for one person.

We were so tempted by their mozzarella sandwich, so we ordered one to go and shared their turkey and Italian in the shop on a sunny day. What a delight!

Sandwiches were made quickly so this is also a great grab and go option. We will be definitely be making a stop in before our next beach day.

The house made lemonade and ice tea was refreshing, and the staff were really sweet.

Glad to have to this option on the west side!

I’d seen BreadHead floating around on Instagram a while back and did my usual thing, bookmark it, forget about it, and figure I’ll eventually get there someday. I’m not usually in this part of Santa Monica, but I had a doctor’s appointment nearby, saw it was right around the corner, and decided today was the day. Glad I finally did.
The spot itself is a little corner shop tucked in a nice neighborhood. Parking in the back is free and easy (a rare luxury in Santa Monica). Inside, it’s clean, bright, with a simple counter setup, you order up front, grab a seat, and they bring the food to you. No tipping pressure, just good service. It was crowded, but the line moved fast. The gal who helped me out, Zyla, was super friendly and recommended the Turkey Pesto for a first-timer. I almost went Roast Beef but trusted her advice, and it paid off.
While I was waiting for my order, something unexpected happened. One of the guys working in the back walked out with a sandwich and an iced tea in his hands, looking around like he was trying to match an order. Then he looked at me and just asked, “Do you want a free iced tea?” I told him I hadn’t ordered one, but he insisted, “Yeah, it’s free,” and set it down. I don’t know if it was an extra or a mistake, but either way it was a kind, simple gesture. It’s those little moments that stick with you.
The sandwich itself was excellent. Not massive, but hearty enough. If you just get the sandwich, the full size is perfect for one meal, fills you up without overdoing it. Add chips or a side and you could easily split half now, half later. The focaccia bread they’re known for is terrific, chewy, flavorful, and holds up to everything inside. The turkey and pesto worked perfectly together, and the arugula gave it a fresh, peppery bite. Nothing dry, nothing bland, just a well-balanced sandwich.
Price-wise, it’s Santa Monica, so nothing’s cheap, but it didn’t feel inflated either. Honestly, the price was fair, maybe even a little under what you’d expect for this zip code. In Beverly Hills, the same sandwich would cost more and probably be smaller.
Now, about the hot sauce. They’ve got Zapp’s hot sauce bottles sitting right out at the counter for anyone dining in to use openly. I ended up pouring half a bottle on my sandwich because it was that good. When I asked if they sold it, they said yes, so of course I bought one. Funny enough, if you look it up online, it’s actually cheaper to buy directly from them than to order elsewhere. Easy decision.
Overall, BreadHead nails it. Easy parking, great service, staff that’s genuinely kind, excellent bread, and a sandwich that’s worth the hype. If you’re in Santa Monica and want something hearty but still fresh and balanced, this is the place. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the neighborhood.
