Stopped in after my son’s baseball game and ordered two smash burgers, fish tacos, and Brussels sprouts. The smash burgers weren’t the typical thin patty style—they were more like traditional burgers with thicker patties—but they still tasted great! Everything we ordered was flavorful and well-prepared. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive. Also, the bathroom was nice and clean, which is always a plus. Overall, a great experience!

I can’t say if it was a bad day for everyone or what but our experience didn’t even come close to the reviews we read. For an hour we sat and waited for anything to be delivered to our table. We got one meal at a time with the last person eating on her own because other meals were delivered earlier. It took an hour to get our beer ( yes we ordered and I am not exaggerating it took that long). We even had one person get their meal before getting the beer we ordered – he still had to go and ask for his drink after he finished his meal. The drinks were delivered two at a time with a large amount of time in between. We definitely won’t be back but I hope that whatever the issue was that it is fixed otherwise I don’t see the business surviving much longer.

I’ve been coming to bread & barely forever, and the food has always been great with zero complaints whatsoever.

Came in to grab dinner with a friend.
Everything just wasn’t that good.

I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich.
The pesto was overpowered by a cheese foam/paste on top of the sandwich, and the chicken was thin.
Overall the taste was just off and the flavors just didn’t mesh well within the sandwich.
I was only able to eat half of it.

Ordered a side of regular fries and they tasted like they were freezer fries.

The steak in the steak sandwich was rubbery, with very little if any chimichuri inside of the sandwich.

It takes a lot for me to go out of my way to leave a review let alone a negative one.

It may have just been one bad meal, but I left more than half of my food untouched because I just couldn’t eat it.

Overall, not great. Ordered a steak sandwich with chimichurri. Got a rare steak on bread with green salsa instead. Was able to replace with a loma solatado sandwich thankfully. Unfortunately, they brought a some sort of chorizo meat on a baguette with guac and a slice of tomato? Where’s the onion and bell pepper?? The steak strips??…. The server was nice

A little hidden gem.

Literally, blink and you’ll miss the front door.

Not too big, not too small, but cool spot. Specially if you like exposed red brick like me. Perfect lighting!

A food menu fit for it all.

The girl behind the counter; super nice. She let me sample three beers before I made a selection.

Prices are fair for what you get.

In the heart of old town Covina; great location.

I’d definitely come back.

Happy, Jolly holidays!

Recently, my son and I finally made it to Bread and Barley for a meal—a place he’d been eager to visit for some time. Our busy schedules had kept us from going until now, but the timing worked out perfectly on a lovely, overcast day. We stopped in for lunch about two hours after they opened. After settling into our table, we were warmly greeted by Eileen, our server, whose radiant smile and upbeat energy set the tone for the entire experience. She handed us menus, took our drink orders, and chatted with us effortlessly.

For lunch, my son opted for the banh mi with French fries, while I went for the pulled pork sandwich paired with Brussels sprouts. Every bite was fantastic, and the portions were generous, making the value undeniable. I also ordered the fish and chips to go—it turned out to be an absolute feast, not only delicious but so large that it could easily serve as two or even three meals, depending on your appetite.

We’ll definitely be returning to Bread and Barley, and if possible, we hope to have Eileen as our server again. Her charm and attentiveness truly elevated the experience. While the food alone would have been enough to bring us back, her delightful personality sealed the deal!

This place used to be the go to spot. Drinks and food were all amazing. Drinks are still good but the food has taken a hard nose dive. Im pretty sure they’ve changed head chefs or something because theres no way the same guy cooking up those gourmet meals a year ago is still back there. Sorry

Stumbled upon Bread and Barley while looking for places to eat after learning the place that has a soft opening today only serves drinks.
This gastro bar is a total delight- from the high ceiling to the brick walls and the cool lighting. Good food and friendly service were a plus. We ordered Fried Brussel sprouts and the Bread and Barley burger which came with a choice of side, we decided on regular fries. The brussel sprouts was 5 stars. Perfectly toasted not bitter. Tossed with nuts and bacon bits in a balsamic glaze dressing. The burger was more than enough split between my sister and I. Cooked as per our instructions with fries that are not salted nor greasy. Our server “Z” was friendly and quick to take our orders. A 3% service fee is added to all tabs. The fee is waived when paying withcash. There are street parking available as well as a public parking structure half a block away. The restroom was clean and we’ll stocked. Definitely would come back with the whole family.

This place doesn’t know what it wants to be. Too many things always changing, staff included, lack of management, and overpriced food. The ambiance is lacking, the food quality is poor, and the owner doesn’t want to lift a finger to make things better for his staff and the customer, most importantly. You can’t run a profitable business when you hire your kids who don’t even want to be there. Shady business.
