I enjoyed an amazing meal at Brazos tonight. It was more than just a meal, it was an experience. At first glance, I noticed all the attention to detail. It’s as it I stepped into another part of the world. The owner and wait staff were so friendly and explained everything on the menu, answered any questions we had, and made recommendations. The food was fresh and perfectly cooked and I thought to myself what a treat it was to have a restaurant of this caliber in Lake Guntersville. If you like Mediterranean food and want to go on a culinary journey, get yourself over to Brazos – thank me later.

Hands down the best Mediterranean food joints I’ve ever tasted in the states!! I forgot to take a picture of the baba gahanoush but it was so delish and amazing that we gobbled it all up before I could take a picture. It was a creamy and flavorful. The flat bread that accompanied it was fresh and fluffy. We ordered the chicken shish shish, mixed grill plate, soup and salad every thing was so YUMMY
Super fresh and homemade. The owners were personable and the price is affordable compared to surrounding restaurants.

Amazing food and excellent service!! Highly recommend and it was some of the best Mediterranean food I have ever have!!!

The food was great. Fresh, very flavorful and nice presentation. I was going to give It 3 stars because the service was bad but the girl was young and I hope the owner addresses it. We had water and never got a single refill and had to reach out to get the check. We will go back.

If you want to eat a wonderful Mediterranean meal, it is a wonderful place. It is very satisfying and delicious. Friendly service, both your stomach and your eyes are satisfied. It is a very beautiful and modernly decorated restaurant. The ambience is very pleasant. The tea presentation is magnificent. The desserts we ate with coffee are blended with taste. Thank you for introducing us to these delicious dishes.

Maaan, I really wanted to love it here but sadly I had very mixed feelings about my food. There’s definitely a lot of potential, though! I wish I could give 3.5 stars.

This seems to be a fairly new restaurant in Guntersville. The restaurant is on the smaller side but the inside is absolutely lovely and not at all what you’d expect from the location. The decor is really very beautiful and looks expensive — modern and chic! Everything was spotless, including the women’s restroom.

Service was also fantastic! Unfortunately I’m a few weeks removed from my visit as I’ve been too busy to write super prompt reviews, but whoever my waitress was, she was such a sweetheart. She took great care of me, anticipating my needs and offering up useful information about the menu and items served. An owner or manager type also came by and spoke to me briefly, quite polite and genuine.

On to the food…

A complimentary sampler-type platter was brought out to start. It consisted of some bread, feta, olive oil, and an herb/spice blend (to dip the bread in before dipping in olive oil), along with one other small item that I don’t remember — think it was something pickled or similar. The items on the platter were on par with what you’d hope for, but the bread was unfortunately not warm and quite hard. I didn’t eat much of it.

I got the hibiscus specialty drink to sip on and that was actually quite lovely. Pretty color, not too sweet, very slightly tart. I was surprised to get a free refill on a drink like that one, but I certainly appreciated it!

For my entree, I ordered the shawarma supreme wrap with a side of Brazos fries. This was the major letdown of the experience.

So, I picked this item because it was on the cheaper side. Lots of the other entrees look good but were quite pricy for lunch. Therefore, I chose a smaller option. The menu said it came with marinated chicken and a garlic sauce, so I scratched my head when my waitress asked if I’d like my onions grilled on the wrap. I didn’t know onions came on the wrap. I figured we were probably talking small slivers or cubes of onions, so I agreed. However, when I took a bite of my wrap, I found quite large pieces of onions — maybe an inch or two in length and diameter both. This really hampered the experience for me because I don’t like large pieces of onions at all, and it was impossible to eat even a bite without encountering a hunk of onion. I pulled them out or ate around them. It’s a shame, cause the chicken and wrap and garlic sauce were all very flavorful. I agree with other reviewers that the menu is very flowery but doesn’t accurately convey what to expect from the dishes. Still, flavor potential! Just gotta clear up what I’m actually ordering. The dish came with a few pickled peppers and vegetables to enhance the flavor, which I enjoyed.

The fries were…not good. I should’ve stuck to a more traditional side dish like rice as that’s where they excel. They had the consistency and shape of frozen fries. They were jazzed up by some sort of seasoning mixture on top, but unfortunately I really didn’t like the flavor. The owner/manager caught me sniffing the fries (lol) and came over to assure me they were cooked fresh and all the way. I wasn’t worried about either of those things; I just wanted to figure out what the spices were! It honestly reminded me of Old Bay seasoning but I doubt that’s right. I wound up dunking my fries in the garlic sauce and tzatziki sauce to drown out the flavor.

Last, I couldn’t help but order some rice pudding for dessert. I love desserts from this cuisine so I had to! It was my favorite thing that I ate — nice and creamy, lots of delicious chopped nuts and golden raisins. Good stuff! Would definitely order again but would also love to try the baklava.

I’m being extra critical because I see the vision for something extra special! I’d love to return to try some of the larger, more expensive dishes, hopefully with my husband so we can share. I love this type of food and would love to have more of it in the area so I really hope they succeed!

I have been waiting for Brazos to open! It did not disappoint. The wait was a little long, but expected. It was day zero lol we expected to have a long wait time. It ran a lot smoother than we expected. All together it took us about an hour and a half. About the same as RHE in town.
We had the hummus and fried cheese for apps. I appreciated that the hmmus had sumac in it! My favorite. The fried cheese, (Cheese Dream), is a MUST!!!! WOW!!! So good!
I had the sheesh kabob and my husband had filet dish. They both came with rice and other extras. My kabob was exactly what I expected. I just wish they were a little bigger. But very delicious!
I would definitely recommend Brazos! If you’re in a hurry, just order online until they get everything worked out. We didn’t mind the wait but some folks seemed to. Also!!!! Get the baklava!!!! Its a must!
Thank you Brazos for having us tonight. What a treat to be able to dine with you on opening day! We will be here for the long haul!
Also, our server was a delight!

This is my first time here. My daughter and I got the cauliflower w/special sauce. She also got the falafel w/tahini sauce.
The cauliflower was really good. We weren’t crazy about the sauce. She was ok with the falafel & sauce. Not sure we’ll be back.

This place is fabulous! We live closer to Birmingham and we’re driving around this past Saturday when we saw Brazos on the billboard. I first thought it was a Brazilian restaurant and was excited to go there. When we got there we noticed it is a Mediterranean restaurant which is not bad because I love Mediterranean food. The place is outstanding with all the decor. They treat everyone so respectfully. The owner talks to every table and make sure everyone is happy. I went with my 3 daughters and they loved it especially the aquarium and the pitta bread, which by the way, was so fresh and fabulous. The kibeh reminded me of my mom and my childhood. The portion is very generous and the price you can’t believe how inexpensive it is compared to other restaurants if you take in consideration the portion size and all the quality in silverware that they offer. The tea is very unique and delicious. I just wished we could see pictures on the menu. You’re doing great Brazos! I hope we can visit you again soon! Thank you for the outstanding service and quality!
