Came out on a cold Saturday to enjoy a burger and a few craft beverages. The service was phenomenal, with one guy and his plastic dinosaur, keeping up with drinks, food orders, and bussing in an almost instantly packed place. Pretty impressive that a tiny little kitchen, can keep up with orders for burgers this good!!
There are other options, but build your own burger, was the way to go. Decent selection of craft and domestic beers. The bar back had a good selection of bottles as well.
Speaking of the bar back, the old wood and stained glass, reminded me of historical photos I’ve seen of pre-Prohibition wood work. I’d be interested to know it’s history.
All in all, a very enjoyable experience.

My grandfather and I ordered the Brazen beer cheese burger with fries. I got Cajun fries with mine. The concept was good… however, the burger wasn’t cooked to temp and it was a bit too greasy for my preference. It could also use a little more beer cheese. Cajun fries over seasoned. The place filled up quickly with customers, escalating noise level for a smaller establishment. Music volume is moderate, adding to noise level. Punk/ska music. I’m not opposed to noise, but sharing for those that may be. Bathrooms were nostalgic with walls created of collages of magazine cut outs. I thought that was neat. The bartender/server did his best to keep up, but as customers continued to roll in, keeping up did become a challenge.

We stopped at Brazen Head Pub during a recent trip to West Bend, and wow — Tyler made me the best portobello “burger” I’ve had in my half century on this planet! The mushroom was bursting with flavor, cooked to perfection with a thin, crispy char around the edges. The grilled onions were beautifully caramelized, the Swiss cheese perfectly melty, and the brioche bun lightly toasty, soft and fresh. The garlic aioli took it completely over the top.

My friend — who doesn’t even like mushrooms — tried a bite and couldn’t believe how good it tasted. The bartender was super friendly and even helped us pick out a great souvenir hoodie to remember our trip.

It was a beautiful bar — warm, welcoming, full of character…and a little bit of humor. If I’m ever back in West Bend, I’ll definitely return for another incredible portobello burger (and maybe a black hoodie of my own!). Wink, wink, nudge, nudge — please order more hoodies.

Highly recommend stopping in if you’re in the area!

All I have to say is, good food, good service, nice bar. We had a good time here. One waitress and she had everyone in the bar covered. Burger was solid and cooked well and the prices were fair. I would go back.

Build-Your-Own Burger 1
Bun: 3.75/5 The brioche tastes great, but doesn’t hold up to the large amount of toppings.
Toppings: 4.75/5 Lettuce, pickles, cheddar, mayo, mustard. All toppings are fresh and work well together. Tons of pickles!
Burger meat: 5/5 A 1/2 lb angus made with fresh beef. Suuuuper juicy! Flame broiled, charred nicely, and seasoned well.
Overall: 4.7 Amazing fresh beef cooked perfectly! Great fries and atmosphere too!

Build-Your-Own Burger 2
Bun: 3.75/5 The brioche isn’t enough to handle the beef and leaves your hands messy after every bite. There’s a pretzel bun option, so maybe go in that direction.
Toppings: 4.53/5 Fried onions, American cheese, BBQ, mayo. Onions cooked perfectly, the BBQ was delicious, and a good quality cheese.
Burger: 5 1/2 lb Angus cooked perfectly
Overall: 4.63/5 Highly recommend!

First time here. We came to taste a burger from the winner of the 2025 Wisconsin Beef Associations, Best Burger contest. And let me just say, if you like a good burger this (may be) the place for you.

It’s located on Main Street in West Bend. This area has gone through a real renaissance. The fixed up the street and sidewalks, have angled parking, and the lighting a nice. It’s a real treat to be able to walk in this area of small shops and businesses. No stripmalls or big box stores. Very nice city planning! Came with a couple of friends, around 11:30.

The Brazen Head Pub is one of many bars and restaurants in this area. This pub is pretty typical layout. It’s long and narrow, a little dark (lighting and wood), has a long bar, and then a few high top tables. There is one larger table towards the rear that holds 6 people. Since there were 3 of us, we grabbed a high-top and stole a chair from the next table. (we had 4 people, not sure what we would have done).

There was only one person (John) running all the table and managing the bar, and a couple of people in the small kitchen. John (our server) got to us after a short wait. Got our drinks and order placed right away. We ordered some Cheese Nuggets (white cheddar curds) and 3 different burgers. You can either “build your own” or order the standard “Brazen Head Beer Cheese Burger”.

The curds came out almost instantly. They were hot, with a side of ranch. They were good (not great, a little too much breading for my tastes). We waited a bit for the biggers, but they ended up being worth the wait. All were made perfectly to order, hot, lots of flavor, and very good portions. The Brazen Head Burger was tall, but manageable. The different elements were distinct and complementary. The cheese sauce had a big of a tang. The fries were okay, but could have been hotter.

While we were there, the place filled up. Lots of other small groups, some at the long bar. With the additional people it got to be pretty noisy, to the point that it was hard to have a conversation. It didn’t help that there was a speaker, right over the tables, with loud music.

With only one person running all the tables, after our food came out, it was difficult to get our servers attention. Extra napkins and getting our check was a challenge.

The experience was mixed. Definitely a place to get an amazing burger, cooked perfectly to order. However, the noise and the service (due to their popularity) was a bit lacking. I wish them luck as they adjust to their new popularity.

This is one of my “go to” pubs when in the West Bend area.

It’s a tight space. Difficult if you have a party above 4. Most tables are setup for 2.

But the food (burgers and wings) are awesome. Great friendly service.

We happened in on a Thursday. Wing night. Great flavors. Suggest the Garlic Parmesan and the Buffalo sauce. Delicious!

Just a fun pub feeling. Well lit, clean and excellent food
