As for the food, it wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t say it was anything above average. Honestly, it reminded me of a typical Olive Garden experience—decent but nothing memorable. One thing that stood out in a not-so-great way was when I ordered a bowl of Alfredo sauce to go with our bread. What I got was a ketchup cup, half full of Alfredo. It was a tiny portion and almost felt like an afterthought. To their credit, they did go back and attempt to make more, which I appreciated.
The highlight of the meal was definitely the birthday dessert—it was absolutely amazing. Rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. That dessert alone might bring me back. Overall, it wasn’t terrible, but also nothing spectacular. I’d be willing to give it another try and explore more of the menu.
We ate at the Louisville location (as we were in town for the weekend for an event). I made reservations for our party of 3 for Saturday evening. We were seated promptly upon arriving; however, as we looked around while being seated, I was a little shocked to see the restaurant ~60% full on a Saturday night in December (near what appears to be a fairly heavily visited shopping area).
Positives:
-Our main dishes were good (Pasta Fra Diavolo and Lasagna)
-Bread was warm and delicious
Negatives:
-Salads were very meh. At $7.99/each with our entrees, they’re pricey, but my wife and I have always enjoyed our salads on previous visits over the years. My wife’s dressing was water-y (Insalata Del Casa), and mine (Chopped Salad) lacked the excitement and taste that I recall from previous trips.
-Restrooms (both men’s and women’s) were disgusting. My wife commented first on it, and when I used the men’s restroom after finishing dinner, I experienced similar conditions (dirty floors, dirty toilets, and paper towels scattered about). I’ve seen cleaner restrooms in gas stations.
It is unlikely we will return to this location.
It was a strange experience overall. Reservations were required, but the parking lot and restaurant were pretty empty. We did not sit in the bar area, but the person waiting on us was also the only bartender. There were a few servers in an area 10 feet away from us… that didn’t cover our table for whatever reason? The whole restaurant seemed pretty understaffed and the kitchen staff sounded pretty annoyed with how many times they had to call out orders. Because our server was also bartending, it took a while to order and receive everything. Our server did as well as they could given the circumstances.
The bread was pretty small, especially since there were three of us. Each piece was maybe half the size of a regular stick of garlic bread. Of course we asked for – and received – more bread, but it seems pretty stingy to start. I was expecting my chicken caprese to have actual slices of tomatoes and mozzarella instead of diced chunks.
Everything tasted good at least, and the people with me were very pleased with the cocktails, especially the limoncello lemonade. I didn’t notice anything being dirty as other reviewers mentioned. For how relatively expensive everything is, I personally don’t see myself going back without another Groupon or similar discount.
