Great service and atmosphere!
Our server, Amy, was amazing — super friendly with top-notch service. The complimentary starter bread was served cold with hardened butter; I just wish either the bread had been warmer or the butter softer (or both).

We ordered the halibut and the trout. The halibut was one of the best I’ve had in town — tender and juicy inside, yet beautifully crispy on top, seared to perfection. The sauce was a bit salty and oily for my taste, but overall, it’s easily one of the best halibut dishes in Victoria, maybe even on the whole Vancouver Island.

The trout, on the other hand, was a bit slimy and fishier compared to the halibut. It was still good, but noticeably saltier and greasier, which made it feel quite heavy.

I’d definitely revisit to try other dishes — perhaps something lighter, like a salad, to pair with that amazing halibut.

I was really craving some French food today, so I booked a table this morning, then cancelled, and later decided to go anyway.
So glad I did! I’d say this is by far the best meal I’ve had in Victoria. The atmosphere was quite loud but I’d let that slide since I came here to enjoy the food specifically.
My server, Peggy, was really warm and welcoming and made me feel right at home! I had 3 courses – the French Onion Soup, Beef Bourguignon, ending with Crème brûlée. The Soup was scalding and I think I burnt my mouth, but that was the only downside because it was otherwise rustic and typically french with loads of cheesy goodness. The Beef was simply OMG, sooo tender, and the vegetables in the stew were cooked to perfection. It had the classic bitter undertone with hints of spice and savoury that made the overall experience just otherworldly! The dessert was nothing extraordinary, but still, satisfying! It was definitely pricey but totally worth it! Almost like that moment when you feel you’ve had better french food outside of France…LOL!

A nice spot with great service that has well put together plate that seem to leave you wanting more. The atmosphere is just put together and not curated. My wife had the pork belly that was quite dry and I had the gnocchi which was had little consistency like it was overcooked. This critic is because I expect the food to match the bill at the end. Its a nice spot. Would be a cute date. Lots of options of other places that easily outpace this spot though.

Classic French comfort food — how can you go wrong? You can’t with Brasserie L’Ecole. Definitely order the French onion soup — it’s outstanding. I had the short ribs, which were very delicious, though they could have been a little more tender. Usually, this dish is so soft you can eat it with just a fork, but aside from that, it was excellent. I’d definitely come back!

We had an unforgettable dinner at Brasserie L’Ecole to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and every detail exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality and professionalism stood out.

Virgil, our server, was absolutely outstanding — attentive, warm, and incredibly knowledgeable. He provided top-tier service that made the evening feel truly special. A huge thank you as well to Vinnie, who went above and beyond to help us secure the perfect reservation time. His kindness and professionalism set the tone for a wonderful night.

The food was phenomenal. We began with the chicken liver mousse, which was velvety, rich, and perfectly complemented by a punch of grainy mustard. For mains, we enjoyed the signature burger — perfectly cooked and full of flavor — and the gnocchi, which was light, delicate, and beautifully balanced. Dessert was a decadent caramel creation that ended the meal on a high note.

Our dishes were expertly paired with a glass of 2021 Montagny white wine, which brought everything together beautifully.

A huge thank you to the team at Brasserie L’Ecole for making our evening so memorable. We’ll absolutely be back — and recommending it to everyone we know.

We had the pleasure of dining at Brasserie L’Ecole last night and it was great as always. Lovely atmosphere, wonderful food and attentive professional service. The room was busy as always, yet easy to have a conversation. The Endive salad is amazing as a starter and the steak and trout were equally delicious as entrees. Loved the local art on the walls and overall it never disappoints. Despite it being Valentines day, parking near the restaurant was easy to find. Looking forward to returning again soon.

I really wanted to love this place. I’d been years ago and had such good memories, so when I came to Vic for a pre holiday with my daughter, I did my research and chose your restaurant. Cocktails were perfect, french onion soup? Good. It’s french onion soup. Everything was good but not oh my god amazing like it used to be. We ate, we drank, it was fun. I paid the bill and tipped 20% ($52), and we continued on with our weekend.
Fast forward to after holidays are all over and I’m going through my receipts, and I see on your receipt that I was charged a 10% sst. Service charge tax?! So that means I also tipped 20% on that too?
This is not cool. I was already on the fence about returning, but now I definitely won’t be.
I did try to call but you are on holidays til the 14th.

After reading the response, all I can say is Doh! I clearly don’t go out enough

C’est fantastique!!! Wow we had a great time.
From the first greeting to the excellent service we knew the food was going to be a delight. And we were right!
Everything was so good, perfectly cooked and very tasty from our appetizers straight through to the desert. The main dishes (beef cheek and the trout) were beautifully done and definitely a highlight.
Thankyou for an amazing taste experience.
We will be back!!
