TL:DR – Great food. Super busy. Takes a bit of time to get served and pay.
We were in Colmar, France for the Christmas markets and it was about 11:30 local time. Not wanting any more brats or mulled wine we choose this place out of random mostly. Turned out to be a good choice!
The food is excellent, let’s just start there. My daughter had a burger (I know) it she said it was amazing. My other daughter had a steak which she also said was amazing. My wife had a salad with brie on a pretzel with some fig jam. Awesome! I had a Flambee which was great (think a savory pizza with onions and stinky cheese).
We got lucky that we went at 11:30 because by noon there was no place to sit. Also plan some time because they take their time in France and to order, get the food and pay took a bit of time. No worries for us but if you are used to being served quick, maybe grab the brat at the Xmas stalls.

The food was okay, the atmosphere is nice, and the location is good. The only thing I didn’t like is that we had to wait 20 minutes just to get inside. But overall, the restaurant is still worth it.

Tried traditional Alsatian dishe Choucroute des Tanneurs and it was tasty. Love sour cabbage which is good combination with Strasbourg sausage and herb sausage. Mushroom sauce for Sirloin steak was salty. Service was good and attentive.

This is one of many options in the center of Colmar, but one of the few that does not require reservations. That is how we ended up there. All in all, the experience was enjoyable. The service is good and the (large) restaurant has a good atmosphere. At the end of the day, the food is okay. Our steaks were done to the right amount but the beef itself was tough. The other dishes lacked some flavor.

Like most of those who went there, we went there because of the queue outside. And the ‘petit futé’ award shown on the front door. So after 20min waiting outside (inside no space to wait ) we got our table. Yes the staff is kind. But don’t expect an amazing food experience. I am French and had better Choucroute even in the middle of France away from Alsace. The food was good but honestly for the price I would expect something else. For tourists with first time in the region or in France, this will be seen as great. That makes it more a tourist attraction than food experience.
We appreciated the atmosphere, the kindness of the staff. They have a nice choice of wines. Riesling we chose was very good for 27€.
