This French restaurant a very unique where the entire restaurant is on a defunct ferry, parked at the bank of Elbe River.
I gave 5 stars for all 3 attributes, the ambience was cozy & romantic. Then, the attentive & polite service from Emily was unmatched.
Now the most important were the food we ordered, the starter shrimp + veggie soup, where the chef pan fried the shrimp to slight charred and the fragrance was so appetizing. For main dish, we ordered Catch of the day & Truffle Pasta, and we end the course with the highly recommended Crème Brûlée (it’s was presented with a scope of ice cream @ a light hint of lemon juice). I really enjoyed the opened concept of the kitchen. It was a live culinary art. Enjoy seeing the 3 chef in action and at the same time enjoy the excellent food.

What an excellent restaurant serving French / Med cuisine in Dresden – with a beautiful view on the River Elbe. Super romantic but even better food & service! Our waiter Aaron was super helpful with telling us what was on the specials menu. Their homemade butter with orange & fennel was lovely – followed by steak tartare to start. Then I had their pan fried halibut with truffle mash & side salad. My husband had the mussels & fries.
All paired with recommended beer & wine.
Superb food which made our evening in Dresden super memorable on a beautiful evening ! Thank you Brasserie Bateau !

A good restaurant in Dresden. It should be mentioned that this restaurant opened in 2025. The food is excellent.
The service is friendly but sometimes overwhelmed.
The atmosphere is good, the music is subtle, and it’s generally not loud.
I’ll gladly come back.

A Gem on the Elbe — Brasserie Bateau is an absolute delight — a floating culinary treasure moored right in the heart of Dresden on the Elbe. From the moment you step aboard, you’re greeted by a stunning panorama: the majestic river, passing steamboats, and the historic Augustus Bridge, all framed by the soft glow of the city. It’s a setting that invites you to linger.

The interior is a tasteful blend of modern chic and nautical elegance, with warm copper tones and large windows that make every seat feel special — especially those right by the water.

Service is impeccable. Our waiter was kind, polite, and professional — attentive without ever being intrusive. He appeared at just the right moments, as if reading our minds. It’s rare to experience this kind of effortless hospitality.

The cuisine was simply outstanding. The beef tartar was of exceptional quality, refined with an aromatic garnish that elevated it beyond the classic. A complimentary bread basket came with a delicious cream cheese subtly infused with coffee and citrus — an inspired touch.

Among the daily specials, the boeuf bourguignon was a standout: tender, juicy, and bursting with umami, beautifully presented over seasonal vegetables with creamy, truffled mashed potatoes. The pan-fried Zander was cooked to perfection — crisp skin, moist interior — while the ratatouille with goat cheese offered a fragrant, summery taste of Provence.

Dessert was another highlight: a crème brûlée done to perfection, its crunchy caramelized top giving way to a silky, vanilla-rich cream beneath.

The wine list is compact but expertly curated, offering excellent selections at fair prices. I particularly enjoyed their smooth, easy-drinking red La Narassa — an excellent recommendation.

It’s evident that the chef here cooks with passion and precision, marrying classic French technique with a fresh, modern sensibility. Dresden has long needed a place like this — refined yet welcoming, elegant yet unpretentious.

We will most certainly be regulars. Brasserie Bateau is not just a restaurant; it’s an experience. Keep up the great work!

Tonight we had a fantastic dinner and were served extremely well by Aaron. He made every effort to be polite, professional and very friendly too. Aaron made some excellent suggestions of what to eat and which drinks would compliment his suggested food. I fancied a beer and really enjoyed his recommendation of the Kronenbourg Blanc de Blanc vom Fass beer, this was perfect, so I had another
As a starter we had Steak Tartare, wow that was amazing. For main courses the mussels were very good quality and perfectly cooked, and so was the Halibut fish too. It’s a lovely venue, well decorated, excellent food and very good service, thanks Aaron & the team, we’ll recommend Brasserie Bateau to our friends and will definitely be back when we visit Dresden again.

I booked a table here since it’s one of the top list that I googled. As we sat there, it took 10 minutes for a server to give us menu. I was abit hangry already haha but after someone attended to us everything came out fast. Aside from that, the dishes that we ordered were impeccably delish. My friend was wowed by the fresh oysters. For the main menu we decided to go for Argentinian beef steak with truffle mashed potatoes, and it matched perfectly. Hats off the Chef of this restaurant and also to the owner who’s serving, attentively asking around about our food.
I highly recommend going to this area.

So to preface this review, I’m not really a big fan of seafood, but who can resist dinner on a boat right in the center of the city? I’d been on the Kahn once before back when it was still Kahnaletto, and it’s amazing how different the interior is. They really leaned into the boat vibes. Lots of blue, very light and open—even the kitchen is fully visible now, which is a fun touch. The table was set beautifully and I loved the copper silverware.

Back to my seafood problem, which luckily was not a problem at all. I did try an oyster from the starter plate we ordered for the table – and I ate it, which is already a big win. My accompaniment, who actually know what they’re talking about when it comes to seafood, confirmed they were excellent quality, and I started eating the vinaigrette that came with it with a spoon, it was so good. I was less brave for the main course and stuck to risotto with asparagus and mushrooms, which was both beautifully plated and delicious – everything perfectly cooked and seasoned. For dessert we went with the Tarte Tatin. Although the risotto was already a generous portion, I couldn’t resist the combination of warm apple with a side of homemade vanilla ice cream.

Overall it was a lovely evening. Kudos to the kitchen and to the very attentive and friendly service. I will definitely be going back!

We were seats by the host, then waited for 25 minutes- no offer of water or a drink or even a menu. We finally left to find someplace else to eat. Very disappointing!
