Looking for a place to eat while traveling on US 75 south when we saw Bass Rail Bar and grill had 4+ stars so we exited and our GPS took us to the door. Nothing fancy on the outside. But we trusted the reviews so we went in. Once inside we were greeted by friendly people. It was early in the day for a bar so as expected it wasn’t too busy (yet). There are pool tables (etc) and pull tabs (etc). We sat at the bar. I don’t eat meat but my husband does. After using the “facilities” we sat at the actual bar. Ordered a drink and wasn’t sure if there was anything on the menu that I could eat. Asking the sweet and adorable bartender (I feel her name is Sammy?) about the menu, my husband asked if I could get the nachos without meat. She said yes and asked if I would like refried beans on it as well? The interesting part is that we didn’t see retired bean on the menu. (maybe they were, but we didn’t see them). She went the extra step and we appreciated that. The other people at the bar had heard us asking about the menu and they all offered they two cents. Which was so fun. They debated which was better the wings or the burgers. My husband ordered the wings and he ate every one. Said they were delicious. I wasn’t able to eat all the nachos but they were so good. Fresh and crisp. Cheesy and the salsa was scrumptious. Great food and friendly locals. We totally recommend this little ‘ole bar and grill. Nothing fancy, but a great place to hang out and enjoy a cold beer and meal or snack. We will definitely be back our next time we pass through town.

Arrived after the kitchen closed, so can’t comment on the food. The music (genre) was good and at a very comfortable volume. The place was busy, happy, hoppin’, and welcoming. Rumor is they have “great burgers and killer pizza”. Next time we’re in town we’ll try to get there earlier to check that out.

Tonya and Sammi have waited on us for years and have been top notch! The bar is small town and very inviting. Give these girls a visit and have a cold beer and juicy burger!

If you’re looking for somewhere to eat in Indian River, KEEP ON DRIVING.
We just left this place. $36.45 for two extremely mediocre cheeseburgers with pickles, ketchup & mustard, one order of deep fried mushrooms and two pops.
The only thing that we could really say was good about the burgers, were the pickles.

Where do i even start with “The Rail”? This little dive has been a staple for me everytime I visit Indian River. Weve laughed, weve cried… overall great little hole in the wall to strike up a converstaion with the locals. It has perfectly captured the small town vibes and feel of this quaint little town.

!!!NOT TOURIST FRIENDLY!!!
My bf and I came to this bar, Bartender thought it was comical to send a local over to take our order, then loudly laughing ” yah I don’t work here, you’ll have to go to the bar yourself”, then went back to the bar and publicly made fun of us with the bartender. We got up to walk out and the taunting continued. Never again, bad for business

Foods delicious. The burgers are absolutely one of my favorites or prime rib on Saturdays. The portion sizes for some things aren’t the biggest and it’s a little costly. The people that work there are some of the best to be around especially bar tenders. They own other bars in the area. Id recommend trying the Torrey tavern location wolverine, MI. Less expensive and more of a bar atmosphere. Music nights. They also own the wigwam and corwith in the surrounding areas. Try them all out and find the one that fits you.

Ordered a great fish dinner to go for my wife and I. Tonya was the ever gracious hostess.. This gentleman is a WWII veteran. Spry as a chicken. A bit hard of hearing. I envy his da, who he was with.

Literally just walked in around 4:30pm on a Saturday afternoon with my family of 4 adults and 3 children after a raft trip and were very hungry. The blond curly haired bartender behind the bar looked at her customers and gave them the gun under the chin sign. We then exited the restaurant and left. We really enjoyed our time we had 2 years here after our big bear raft trip but not after that customer service!

Wow, I cannot stress enough just how nice of a place this truly is. The interior size will surprise you upon entering, with a nice center bar from which to get drinks, a dining area in the back, and a pool/ping pong opposite that, and quite a cook working in the back. And, I have GOT to recommend the chili cheese fries, they are to DIE for. Generous amounts of chili and cheese. And the banter from the bar was quite funny as well, very personable bar tender working. 5/5, easy, will definitely be back, next time for a burger. If the opportunity arose, would definitely recommend.
