Came here on accident and will do it again!! Service exceptional!!! Atmosphere- must love animals on the wall and we do! Food is soo good and the flavors delish!! The corn casserole has a cornbread top that sets it above !! Definitely be back on purpose!!

We’ve driven by this place many times, each time commenting on the signage, barbecue, ribs and so forth. Today we finally gave it a try. We started our adventure by scoring a parking spot right by the door! (One of us has a limited number of steps that can be taken before sitting is required.) upon entering, the visual ambience is immediately eye-catching. Taxidermy is plentiful! We chose a table close to the door, allowing for our dinner friends to see us easily. There was a post right at the corner of the table, which I chose to call Malone. We were greeted quickly by a couple of very young people, who were choosing to spend part of their vacation helping in the restaurant. Very nice. They got our water, asked about drinks and brought us menus. We had all four been there a while before someone asked whether or not we were ready to order. (I think the visiting help was maybe taking some of the routine out of the service.) we placed our orders and after a bit of a wait, not a long wait, our food was delivered by multiple employees, all at the same time. I thought the food was pretty good, as did the rest of our party. My brisket was ranging from tender to tough, and the chicken was kind of dry. I had coleslaw that was good, Bama Beans, which were good and corn pie. All in all, it was a pleasant experience.

I visited with a group last night. This was my first (and will be my last) time visiting. The service and atmosphere were great so no complaints there. My issue was the quality and quantity of the food. The sides came in what appeared to be condiment containers (about 3 bites). The side of beans tasted like they were scooped out of a can of pork n beans. I’m no food expert, but I’ve never in my life had to cut burnt ends with a knife (and still struggle to cut through it). I could barely poke my fork into the meat! It was seriously the consistency of beef jerky! The prices seem reasonable, until you realize what you paid for. It’s definitely not worth the money. As a matter of fact, if they offered this to me for free, I still wouldn’t return.

As we walked up to the front door I was concerned when I didn’t smell the smoker which usually indicates a good experience. We each ordered brisket which pretty much makes or breaks the whole meal. Unfortunately, the brisket was cut thick, very dry, required sauce, and there was no sign of a smoke ring or bark which indicated that it was probably done the day before or even longer. The servers and atmosphere was great and I really liked the smoked sausage and scalloped corn. May have been better on a different day.

The food was good. I had the smoked sausage dinner my grandma had the chopped pork dinner. I was surprised it was slow on supper bowl Sunday. They definitely were doing a number of to go orders that day.

I thought the prices were good until the food came out. The portion sizes were pathetic. I have seen kids meals with more food than that. I got brisket and ribs. They were both very dry. Good flavor but very dry. The sides come in a little container like a plastic condiment container. It Is an entirely different experience than I remember from years ago.

I’ll start with, I didn’t get traditional BBQ, just the Hog sandwich. So take this with a grain of salt. I thought the ambiance and food was excellent. The smoked wings were also great. Our server was a bit quirky but I really liked her and she did have ties to SF. All the beers they had on tap were different and fit the menu well and the Bloodys have burnt ends! Now I’m just getting hungry thinking about it.

We haven’t been in for quite some time but we will definitely be back on the regular from now on! The food was amazing! We had the Kansas City ribs, brisket and pork and it was all 10 out of 10! The service was super friendly and prompt. I highly recommend!

Overall I had a good experience on my first visit to Boyd and Charlie’s. I ordered the St Louis ribs, the cornbread pudding, and the beans. The side dishes were adequate. I like the concept of the cornbread pudding. I’ve been to a many BBQ joints in KC and across the country and I’ve never seen it as a side before. The beans were seasoned and a little bit on the salty side I’d like to taste a little more depth of flavor to give the beans a higher rating though. The ribs: The ribs had a nice smokey flavor. The service was very good. I don’t know what the waitress’s name was, but she was very friendly and attentive and made the experience even more enjoyable.

Boyd and Charlie’s went above and beyond. My friend and I went there to celebrate my bday before the game tonight. The atmosphere was awesome. Very family friendly! The vibe is awesome the food is amazing!
Scott our server went above and beyond. I forgot my take out order for my husbanf and Scott hand delivered it to my hubby tonight so he would have his hot meal to eat tonight. Will definitely recommend Boyd and Charlie’s! 110%!!!
