Today was our visit time at Box Hill and it definitely will not be our last. The crab cakes were hands down the best I’ve ever had. They were huge with so much lump crab. I got a Greek salad as a side and it was delicious. So much cheese and their how dressing was so good! We also got the crab pretzel as an appetizer and it was perfectly prepared topped with a lot of crab. The service was excellent as well. Our waitress was very attentive and our food came out quickly. I know some reviews mention it being odd that the drinks are self service but with it being a Coke freestlye machine, having everyone get their own drinks makes total sense. We enjoyed the large variety of drinks offered.

I was in the mood for crab cakes and decided to try a local restaurant in Harford County so we ended up dining @ Box Hill. We were seated right away as we opted for outside dining. Nevertheless, their crab cake was exceptional; plentiful, fresh, and absolutely delectable. Crab cake lovers will not be disappointed! Plus, they offer so much variety on the menu from hot to cold sandwiches, pizzas , pastas, and cakes! I would describe Box Hill as a hidden gem in Harford County, Maryland.

This was the second time we shipped your crabcakes and they did not disappoint. Dry ice worked like a charm, thawed in time for Christmas Dinner; crab cakes, rice pilaf and asparagus of course a few saltine crackers. I think we have revived a Christmas tradition. Don’t change a thing. We loved them.

So first off, the crab cakes are always phenomenal. The pizza was much better than expected. The calamari was not chewy and the marinara was warm. They were about eight of us and everyone was very happy with their meals previously I had ordered their salad dressing shipped to my home in New York and will be doing it again shortly. i would like to share our experience with box hill we are from new jersey so whenever we go south box hill is on our pit stop coming home we’ve been doing this for at least 10 years well on 14 February 2026 our daughter faith stop in and we wanted 4 8oz frozen crab cakes to go when she arrived home and checked she realized they gave her 4 4oz crab cakes she emailed box hill and explained the situation sent pictures and nico responded and without skipping a beat said he would make it right just let him no when we would be back well we attended a wedding on 21 february 2026 and he said just ask for him we arrived and his customer service and him honoring his word was very impressive he said keep the 4oz and i make sure you get the 8oz’s no charge we were and always be grateful for his service and will continue to make box hill our pit stop larnell terry my wife our daughter faith and my sister loretta and her husband tom

First time eating here. Came for the crab cakes.. they didn’t disappoint! Full of lump crab meat and very little filler. The breading they use for the filler was actual bread and even tasty not just dry bread crumbs.
We ate outside. Service was great and the food came quickly. A little weird and inconvenient to have to get your own drink but other than that very good experience. Restaurant and restroom was clean. Nice outside area covered partially and umbrellas at the tables at the other section.
Would definitely return. Family lives close by so I DoorDash did for them sometimes.. nice option ad I live out of state.

Delicious as ever. I was here in 2017 and again in 2019. I was passing through this part of the country again today and it’s been on my mind for a long time. So I went in for lunch and took a friend. We had the crabcakes and the Caesar salad. They were both delicious.

We stop here with family that often comes here. We got the crabcakes and couldn’t believe how good they are. They are big and are possibly the best I’ve had. We’ll probably go back when in the area as we live in Southern Delaware

We drove over 2hours to try out these crab cakes because of a Tik Tok video I saw on social media.
It’s a very cute neighborhood restaurant that has both inside and outside eating areas..
We wanted to try a few different things on the menu so on to the food….Of course we had the Crab cakes! They were so full of lump crab meat and totally worth the price and drive, also very little binder it was mostly crab! We also had the stuffed shrimp again it was delicious! Then we had my favorite the fried rockfish was so seasoned, yet moist inside and surprisingly super crispy on the outside.
Ohh..our waitress was so informative…she provided us with information about the menu and her service was timed just as needed.
If you’re ever in the DMV area, please give this place a try!!
