For me, it was a bit underwhelming. The samosas seemed store-bought and felt overpriced for the portion, and the butter chicken bowl didn’t have the depth of flavor I was hoping for. I grew up eating Indian food at home, so I may have higher expectations for more traditional taste and portions. Especially since the bowl costed $18.
Overall, it’s a good, approachable place for newcomers, but it may not fully satisfy those used to more authentic Indian food.
Edit: My response to the owner. There is nothing really fusion about the bowls except that they are served in a Chipotle style build your own bowl manner. There is nothing that adds Mexican flavors to them. The tacos are just naan and curry served in a different way (the naan folded with the curry on top instead of the side.) which isn’t bad. I never asked any questions and just shared my feelings in a polite manner.
Woooow. I recommend everything in the pics. We got naan tacos, one chicken, one shrimp. Loaded masala fries and masala wings. I can’t wait to go back! The staff are super nice and the place is clean. I’m surprised there isn’t a line out the door. Do people not know about this place yet? 10 out of 10 stars. ⭐️
Next time I go, I want to do the shrimp bowl with masala fries sauce and the cheese sauce with naan on the side and the wings again. Get all the veggies. I should have got an extra bowl to go.
The basic concept of the serving style has been replicated by different cuisine styles all across. Chipotle or Cava-style plate building with a base, a protein, a sauce, and vegetables. But instead of the same repetitive mexican food found everywhere, you pick, for example, bagara or biryani rice. Protein such as chicken, shrimp, salmon, LAMB! BUT with butter masala, tikka masala, rayal… Yum!
Would you like tacos instead? Well, get chicken, shrimp, paneer naan tacos or cheese naan tacos. Drink a thumsup soda or a hot masala chai for a more authentic meal.
The place was, unfortunately, empty. Although we might prefer the quietness and lack of people around, too much of it does not support this hidden gem in Columbia.
If you want to eat alone, it is perfect. On the other hand, if you’re not alone, the silence makes you have to lower your voice below normal tones to maintain conversational privacy. The TV was off, no background music. Some noise is usually welcomed. They told me they have only been open for a few months and I hope they do well.
The food tasted great, fresh, and with generous proportions. Good seasoning, spicy but not overly so. It is primarily booth style sitting.
Give them a shot and I’m sure you’ll come back.
