We had a lovely Christmas gift from our friend to go along for a 2 course meal for two in Bo’Vine at The Grosvenor Hotel in Glasgow’s Byres Road. Great food and excellent service by Izzy, Niamh and Mazen. Our friend also had a voucher but decided to come along with us and the restaurant allowed our 2 courses plus wine or beer for 4 become 3 courses for 3 which was lovely. I had the Greek salad which came with a type of wafer on top that exploded with flavour in my mouth. I asked what it was and was told crystallised balsamic vinegar. I followed that with a gorgeous fillet of seabass with crushed potato and green beans. Hubby had tomato and basil soup, the Bo’Vine Burger then sticky toffee pudding and ice cream with a couple of budweisers to wash it all down. Yvonne had haggis bonbons with whisky sauce, chicken stuffed with chorizo then a forest fruits crumble tart and ice cream that she thoroughly enjoyed with a couple of glasses of red wine. All were fabulous and appreciated. Lovely surroundings with a great relaxed atmosphere. Thanks Bo’Vine. Xx Janice, David & Yvonne

Lovely evening spent at Bo’Vine. We had a voucher for chateaubriand for two with chips, salad and a sauce. The food was delicious. We opted to purchase starters in addition to our voucher items. I had pate and my partner had the smoked salmon. Both were good sized portions and tasted delicious. When the main course came out it was fantastic! Well presented, plenty of food to be shared between two and it was cooked perfectly. We asked for rare and it was rare (I find we tend to receive our steaks medium rare).
There was a mix up with our drinks which is why I’ve taken off one star. I asked for white Zinfandel (which is obviously rose), the waiter came back and said they didn’t have it, so I asked for whatever the house rose was and they brought back a glass of red wine. I eventually got my glass of rose- which was delicious.
Nice atmosphere, music wasn’t too loud, people coming and going and the staff were attentive. This was our third time here and we were not disappointed. We’ll definitely be back.

Unfortunately we expected more of this venue. Firstly I booked a table online for 9pm. Arrived at 8:45 to be told that the kitchen was closing. Staff didn’t understand how I had a 9pm booking even when shown the confirmation email. We were asked to order quickly due to this. Fillets were cooked to perfection but unfortunately the meat quality wasn’t great and we have had better quality supermarket cuts. Not much flavour and extremely tough/ chewy for medium cooked although colour perfect. Otherwise a nice restaurant. Young girl serving was nice and French martini was lovely.

Really lovely meal. We were welcomed by Julie the manager and it is evident that she takes pride in running a good restaurant. The food from the market menu was lovely. Especially the chicken main and haggis Bon Bon’s for starters. Great atmosphere and good service throughout. Huge thanks and especially to Julie.

We were given an “Itison” voucher as a gift at Christmas. The voucher was for Chateaubriand Chips and salad with a drink.
The staff were very accommodating in that the offer was for Prosecco which we didn’t care for but we were able to change that to House Red at no extra charge, thank you.
The steak was lovely, cooked just as we asked, and the accompanying items were fine. The only complaint was the temperature of the food could have been warmer. It was just about acceptable as we started to eat but quickly cooled and by the time we got to the end of our meal it could only be described as cold.
The staff were friendly and we did inform the young female waitress of our view of the temperature of the food, she asked if we wanted to speak to someone about it but we were happy for her to pass on our remarks to the relevant persons.
The restaurant is quite large large with lots of the tables in small booths which looked to be quite intimate and cosy, unfortunately the table we were shown to was at the side next to the bar, not the best seat with staff going back and forth with food and drinks. Given only three or four tables were occupied I feel we could have been given a better table. Maybe it was because we were on a “Voucher “
It would not stop us returning or recommending this restaurant but next time we book we will make sure we ask for a booth.

We visited Bo’Vine Steakhouse in Glasgow using an Itison voucher, having moved our Valentine’s booking to 15 February specifically to avoid the set menu and dine à la carte. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing.

The initial welcome from the manager was cold and dismissive, setting an uncomfortable tone from the outset. Although the menu stated that an à la carte option was available on request, we were told only the set menu was available — offering just one option per course. Having booked over a month in advance and travelled more than an hour, this was frustrating and unexpected.

The starter was underwhelming, and service was slow, with over 20 minutes waiting to order drinks despite the restaurant being quiet. While the serving staff were polite and friendly, basic presentation standards — such as hair not being tied back — felt below expectations for a premium venue.

The chateaubriand was particularly disappointing: a very small sharing portion (around six thin slices of steak, minimal sides and only a handful of chips), which did not reflect the restaurant’s reputation nor was it suitable for sharing. Dessert was the only highlight.

What was most frustrating was overhearing another table raise the same concern about the set menu and being offered the à la carte option we had been denied. This inconsistency, along with a dismissive response when we politely raised our concerns at the end of the meal, left us feeling unheard and uncomfortable pursuing it further.

Having since read similar reviews mentioning set menus, portion sizes and voucher bookings, it appears this may not be an isolated issue. The voucher was a £50 Christmas gift paid for in full. It feels from reading other reviews that they treat it as a discount and service isn’t as good when using them (e.g., not offering us the à la carte menu, but offering it to surrounding tables).

Overall, we left unsatisfied and still hungry. The experience did not reflect the high-end standard promoted, and based on this visit, we would be unlikely to return.

From walking in the door all staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and chatty. We loved our afternoon tea followed with Prosecco and wine. Coffee was piping hot and the food was gorgeous. Will definitely recommend to friends and will be returning soon. Thanks to all.

I would I not waste a penny going here, it looks high end and prices are high end, we waited 20 mins to be offered drinks and where about to leave when we finally got served it wasn’t busy, we had soup and chicken liver parfait for starters totally tasteless, then a sirloin steak meal and burger meal, the fries where freezing cold on my burger meal and it wasn’t well done, the sirloin was supposed to be well done and was pink it was the worst cut of meat I’ve ever seen and very over priced it was very pale looking like cheap meat, we bought our child a 12” margarita and when it arrived it was a tiny Chicago town pizza to top it all off my partner couldn’t eat the steak dinner there was a full steak dinner still sitting and when we explained to the manager they only took 10% off and made us still pay for the steak dinner which was disgusting, it looks beautiful and high end from the outside but please don’t be fooled the full meal was not worth the money we paid. We love trying new restaurants a few times a week and we are in total shock about this one as we have been meaning to try it for a while since buying our home in Glasgow we where expecting high end especially with the prices on the menu. I wouldn’t waste your money. This is more like something from a brewers fayre restaurant terrible quality of food.

The service was terrible! The slowest service I’ve ever experienced. Didn’t get a drink until we had finished our starter (drinks were ordered 1st) So approximately 25mins after we were seated. Food was lovely. Cocktail selection was poor. I think the servers were young school leavers so they didn’t seem to know what to do. We had to wait so long for drinks and the bill it ruined our experience. This is my 2nd visit, last time was slow service but this time was another level. Won’t return.

Went last night to Bo Vine to use a groupon voucher 2 x courses, 2 x people and 2 x drinks, for the price of the voucher this was great value, we had the poached egg/black pudding starter, prawn cocktail, then traditional turkey dinner, and a steak and chips. It was all lovely, think it would usually be £35 a head which I thought was quite good too. If you’re looking for a starting point/meeting point for dinner and drinks at West End I would choose here, lovely venue, bar staff and waiting staff very efficient and friendly, great location. Some of the negative reviews on here very harsh, if you’re looking for much better food, you’ll need to pay a much higher price, this is nice edible food, good service and lovely surroundings. The BeGin is also lovely to go after dinner for some more drinks too. Really couldn’t fault it, for the negative reviewers, what are you expecting for the price?!
