We got the Crispy Pig’s head and the Smoked Steelhead Crudo for the appetizers and both dishes were not up to par. The smoked steelhead crudo was essentially sashimi that’s been put thorough some kind of smoking process because you could taste the smoke but there was no depth to the flavour. And the nori was an unnecessary distraction. The crispy pig’s head sounded like an interesting dish but didn’t live up to the intrigue.
For the main dish we had the roasted lingcod. The curry sauce was quite tasty but a bit too spicy. Although the fish itself was nice and flaky.
The desserts were good. Service was just ok and not quite up to par for a Michelin rated.
There was a small issue with the cod—one friend felt his tasted off, and my girlfriend found hers quite salty. We mentioned it to our waitress, and she handled it very professionally by comping my friend’s entire meal, which we really appreciated. We also ordered three seafood towers for the table, and everyone enjoyed them at the time.
However, the next morning a handful of my friends mentioned they weren’t feeling well and spent hours feeling sick. My girlfriend and I were fine, so it’s hard to say exactly what caused it, but a few suspected it may have been from the oysters, as one friend said the last oyster he tried tasted bad and he spat it out.
Aside from that, we truly enjoyed our time at Boulevard—the service, private room, and overall experience were great. We would definitely come back, though we might reconsider ordering the seafood towers in the future.
The service was impeccable. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and offered great recommendations without being pushy. The timing of each course was spot on, making the meal feel relaxed and well paced.
The atmosphere is elegant yet comfortable, with a lively energy that adds to the overall experience. Whether it’s a special occasion or simply a night out, Boulevard really knows how to make it memorable.
From the quality of the food to the top-notch service, this restaurant easily earns all five stars. Highly recommended!
For starters, the seafood tower was incredibly fresh and delicious — the two-person portion was perfect for four of us to share as a starter. The grilled oysters were savory and well-seasoned, and the seaweed + uni combination tasted like the pure essence of the ocean. Beef carpaccio was delicious and we love how it presented, the blue fin tuna was pretty fresh too.
For Mains , the lamb saddle and the seasonal special main ( fish seafood one )were both excellent.
We also really enjoyed the dessert selection. Having a variety to try was such a treat, and every item was delicious. The standout was definitely the sesame salted caramel — absolutely amazing.
There’s a wide range of dishes, and everything we ordered was flavorful.
The only issue was the pacing: the starters all arrived at once, and since the tables aren’t very large, we genuinely had no space to eat comfortably. After finishing the starters, the wait for the mains was also a bit long. Hopefully this can be improved.
Overall, the food was great and we’d still happily return.
Pros:
The food came in the just right balance of creativity and classics. Octopus recommended to me had much aroma, amplified by the masala infused sauce. Also pairs great with the crispy brussel sprouts and (likely) hummus. The red wine jus was flavorful, the jus was tangy and clearly reduced well. The steak fat was rendered properly that even has a appetite-expanding taste of its own. The award winning desserts brought this place to a new level, with the meringues in the pavlova melt in mouth with a citrus flavor, and the pear essence working exceptionally well with the transparent sorbet. Using my partner’s words “(the pear dessert was) the best dessert she ever had”. Even the complimentary cheesecake (which was a really nice gesture and made us feel special) had a mouth watering layer of strawberry extract.
Cons:
Just being extremely nitpicky here and by no means these are inherent faults of the restaurant. But to consider room for improvement, the washroom is shared with the lobby of the Sutton Hotel, and perhaps it is hard to maintain the same pristine standard with the restaurant itself in the evening. Also, the ambient is on the slightly loud side, and booth seats are slightly closer to each other, but both understandable given its popularity
The Pecan Banoffee Crisp Dessert is to die for. Delicious! 10/10
The oyster are fresh and the accompanied sauces complimented it very well 10/10
Pomme Puree (Mashed Potatoes) is superrr smooth. 10/10 truffle fries 8/10
Bluefin Tuna Sashimi and Hamachi Crudo, while having super beautiful presentation, are less impressive. I enjoyed a first couple bites, but then it got boring really quickly. I wouldn’t want to order this again. Maybe a little kick of heat would help with that craveability. 5/10
Foie Gras Terrine – again, though the presentation is very nice, the taste doesn’t follow through. It’s pretty heavy, not enough acid on the plate to get you through the entire dish. 4/10
I do appreciate that they have a kid menu so you can bring your kids here and not make them try a fancy $50 dish that they’re not gonna enjoy.
Atmosphere is rather disappointing. Given this being a fancy restaurant, I imagined I’d be able to enjoy my birthday dinner in a private, quiet, elegant atmosphere. Unfortunately, we were seated next to multiple loud tables and near a bar lounge area. It’s hard not to get distracted by their laughs and conversations throughout the whole dining experience. Maybe it’s because the restaurant is inside a hotel and serves all types of guests, plus where we were seated. Our server is really nice and attentive, but for the price we paid for the entire dining experience, I expected the atmosphere to be a little bit more elegant for sure.
Overall I give this restaurant a 7/10.
Rich was our server, and he was absolutely amazing. So friendly with the kids, involved them in serving us dessert, and brought my daughter a special birthday dessert by THE Chef Kenta
Food was fantastic, service was friendly, ambiance was fancy yet comfortable, and the kids had a blast. Highly recommend.
The food is beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Every dish we tried was well balanced and thoughtfully presented.
The desserts were especially impressive — not overly sweet, perfectly textured, and a truly satisfying way to end the meal. You can tell a lot of care and skill goes into both the savory dishes and the desserts.
A fantastic spot for anyone who appreciates great food and excellent execution. Highly recommended.
