As a general rule, I think the photo speaks for itself…and it does. But this was such a lackluster experience, I’m inspired to elaborate.
I ordered an “Avocado Egg White” sandwich and an espresso.
This sandwich had so much potential. How does one ruin a such a simple sandwich, one might ask?
Simplicity requires quality ingredients, which they did not use in my sandwich.
To begin, one might assume from the fact that *avocado* is the first word in the name of the sandwich, that they might receive more than a few measley pieces of a brown, rubbery substance mascarading as “avocado.” Well, they would be wrong. Avocado could (and probably should) sue this café for slander. I never understood how people couid not like avocado. I now understand. This café is why some humans hate avocado.
I would’ve been satisfied to receive a quarter of a ripe avocado. I would’ve been ecstatic to receive half of a ripe avocado. Any amount of ripe avocado between one-quarter of a ripe avocado and one-half of a ripe avocado and you’d be reading a five-star review.
I don’t expect much when I order an Avocado Egg White sandwich. Let’s be honest, it doesn’t sound as fun as the French Toast Panini. But I was traveling and needed something healthier. I don’t expect much, but I didn’t expect to receive something I would’ve been ashamed to serve to my friend or my enemy.
As previously stated, simplicity requires quality ingredients. I don’t expect much when I order an Avocado Egg White sandwich: A ripe avocado, a sprinkle of salt; egg whites cooked with salt. Bread. That would’ve earned a four-star review. (Add a nice bread for a five-star review. )
That’s not what I received.
The avocado was sparse, brown, hard, and rubbery. I added hot sauce to the sandwich to give it a modicum of flavor. I couldn’t eat the “avocado”. (See photo.)
The young man at the counter was nice, but when I showed him the avocado, he neither fixed the issue (by giving me a ripe avocado) nor did he give me even a partial refund nor a pastry (at this point, I just wanted some comfort food to heal my soul)—he gave me nothing in compensation for the item I received. That’s not good customer service. That’s the bare minimum.
Speaking of the bare minimum, the girl making the sandwiches slouched on a chair in the back the entire 30 minutes I was in the café, except when she stood to make the disappointment of an “avocado” sandwich I received.
There were no other customers. The place was completely dead…as dead a the “avocado” they served me.
The espresso had zero crema. It was thin, almost watery.
The entire experience was very disappointing. I do NOT recommend this café.
Tried avacado egg white for breakfast and irish eyes are smiling (hot)
