After reading great reviews, I was very excited to try Boston Bean House. Unfortunately, I think my first visit will be my last. While the quality and cost of the breakfast sandwiches were fair, this is about the only positive part of my experience. Both pastries, a butter croissant and pumpkin muffin left a lot to be desired. The croissant was stale and dry and the muffin tasted like it was left to defrost overnight – still incredibly cold. I had an unpleasant surprise when I reached the bottom of my drip coffee – roughly 1/2 inch of coffee grounds came flowing out of the coffee lid. The real kicker of my experience is watching multiple employees eat food in the kitchen, right next to where customer food is made, while wearing gloves, and not changing said gloves before going back to handling customers’ food orders. I also witnessed employees touching personal items and not changing gloves, using rags to wipe down the kitchen and not changing gloves, etc. If I had witnessed this prior to ordering I would have walked out right then and there. The space inside is large with ample seating, although the atmosphere feels off. There is no music playing, the room was incredibly chilly, and it just didn’t have the buzz and vibe you’d expect from a neighborhood cafe. I wish our experience was better, but we will not be repeat customers.

Hi, I came here in the fall when I was in town expecting great things because of the reviews. I have to say, I suppose since there’s very little other options it’s okay… but I definitely think the drinks specifically could improve immensely. They all tasted watered down and ick. Got a review from the group that it was no better than Dunkin (that’s not a good thing). Be better for your community!

Boston Bean House is a must stop if you are in downtown Maynard. Here is why:

1. This place is big! There is plenty of room for seating and a beautiful outdoor space. The shop is quaint and an easy place to enjoy a morning coffee or read a book.

2. Staff is friendly and helpful! Always a great experience when I get anything and they are fast!

3. Food is good! There is also gluten free options too. They offer breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and an array of pastries.

All in all, well worth the stop either on your morning commute or weekend downtime. Check it out and feel free to look at my photos in this review to get a sense of the space.

I can’t stand going to a coffee shop snd the only sugar they have is pink cancer packets, yellow cancer packets, and then sugar in the raw, which doesn’t dissolve in cold drinks! Also, it was very cold inside, ESPECIALLY the bathroom! Air dryer in the bathroom also blows freezing cold air for some reason?

Definitely not somewhere you want to go during winter if you wanted to warm up!

Been wanting to try this place for awhile. Ordered a simple iced mocha last year around this time. I mentioned this because the quality may have changed. Service was good. The wait was not long despite the holiday rush. Will try again in the near future.

Where is the decency? I pulled up with a sleeping baby on an stroller and asked if I could order a coffee and just get someone to bring it to the door. There’s a flight of stairs and no ramp so you can’t do the stairs you can’t come in. I wasn’t asking for service just a little help but I was told curtly we don’t do deliveries if you want anything you have to come in and order it in person.! Your coffee is not like that level of rudeness, in fact, McDonald’s is better

Moved to Google from Yelp: I’ve been here before and usually have a good experience between the drinks and the food. Recently, I needed coffee on my way to work and wanted to shop local instead of shopping at a chain. I ordered a pickup through Doordash, but the ASAP option was not available, and the next pickup window wasn’t for 30 minutes. I still placed the preorder for that pickup window, assuming that I could let them know I was there and my ticket would just join the line instead of me waiting to place my order…. Big mistake. The staff told me that it was scheduled, and I explained there was no ASAP option for this store today for some reason, but they still took everyone’s orders in line *and made them* before even looking at my ticket. I feel like at the least it should’ve been put in the line of walk in orders when I arrived and asked if it could be moved up. I won’t be ordering here again in this way. Either add an ASAP option to your Doordash, or don’t make customers wait until everyone else has been served from walk ins before helping them, if you’ve already checked in the customer.
The food is great and the drinks are good, this was just a bit disappointing.

Sorry to say it but with no recent reviews or many photos of their food I wanted to give it a try today. It was very disappointing. I’ve Been in Maynard for years and only ever tried an iced mocha and an apple turnover. which in my option wasn’t good. The pastry was dry coffee tasted burt.
Today decided to try the breakfast. First off, it was at least 90 degrees in there and hard to wait. So, The eggs were nice but that was it. The description said “two sausage” which ended up being this microwaved patty, “2 bacon” that was soggy and soooooo salty it burnt my lips and tongue after one bite (inedible)! And lastly the home fries were clearly microwaved and dried out. Just awful. I won’t bother trying lunch if my 2 experiences were this bad.

This place is great! The breakfast sandwiches are very tasty and unpretentious. The bacon, egg and Gouda bagel is always solid. Don’t be afraid to ask them to swap out the bacon for ham if your bacon quota has been achieved. The staff is super friendly and the coffee is way better than that diner battery acid brew that somehow still gets served at other spots. BoBean is my go to spot for quick breakfast on the weekends.

My mom ordered the Italian breakfast sandwich and I ordered the Mexican breakfast sandwich- both of which were delicious and gobbled up immediately. The coffee special was the ladybug (an iced latte with a whipped cream/chocolate “ladybug” design on top) and my mom had her first rooibos tea, again, both were lovely. Staff and service were great!!!
