Service on this visit was so-so (only one waitress and one cook on duty). We had a fairly large group and it was a struggle just to get water, coffee, and silverware (had to ask for silverware 3 times before it was brought) by the time she got around to bringing the silverware most of us had our food in front of us for several minutes and it was getting cold. The waitress forgot to collect the menus when she took our order so I kindly collected them and took them to the main part of the cafe because we were sequestered in a back room. Was a little perturbed that when I tried to ask the cook where I should set them and she snapped at me. Went at breakfast time. They were out of stock on several items on the menu including biscuits and gravy and sausage links (on a Saturday morning). If you go for breakfast, the items that I tried that I CAN recommend were the pancakes and french toast. The serving sizes for those items were generous and they tasted delicious. There were 5 children in our group so I had the opportunity to sample quite a few items. I did not particularly care for the “homemade?” sausage patties or the flavor of the ham steak. The bacon was almost perfect for me (I prefer my bacon just a teensy bit chewy).
I have also visited this location at lunch time and was much more impressed with the lunch menu. On that visit I had a grilled chicken sandwich and my stepmom had the I think it’s called the farm boy or farm girl but it was basically a triple cheeseburger and fries and both meals were utterly delicious.
In summary I can highly recommend the lunch menu but was sorely disappointed with my breakfast visit.

Old Highway 61 Cafe. We had been looking for a cafe that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. While out for a drive we came upon this cafe! They have great food and great service! We especially love their Friday night fish fry, you all gotta try it!

Cheap food but, bad service.
I’m am only giving 3 stars for several reasons. Many people would probably give less then 3 stars. However, I am trying to be generous and also, keep an open mind.
We have eaten there on 2 separate occasions and both times had the same server and cook. We ordered kids meals for our kids both times. The first time I did not completely read the menu so, i did not realize that we were supposed to get ice cream work the kids meals and left before getting the ice cream. In addition, the waitress did not bring our check to our table we had to get it from her at the counter as we were paying.
On the second attempt of eating here I read the menu and saw that the kids are supposed to get ice cream with thete meals. This time I asked for the ice cream as the waitress did not offer. Had I not asked I am sure she would not have said anything. Also, for the second time after being done and sitting at the table for a good 10 min. waiting on my kids to finish their ice cream I had to get the check at the counter as we were paying.
The above reasons is why I am only giving a 3 star review. I am sure we wi try eating there again as it does have some of the cheapest prices in town. I just hope we done get the young girl as a waitress again as she is not very attentive to get customers.

So I’ve been a frequent visitor to the vale (Renamed to boscobel cafe) and I figured I’d try it after the last owner ran the place down. But another new person bought it now and it’s absolutely a 10/10 now they brought back old staff that actually made the place worth eating at. The foods not burnt all to hell and it’s back down to where pricing was when it was the old vale inn. It’s worth giving a try again me and my fiancé just had breakfast for literally 11$.

We were brought our waters then waited 15 minutes for anyone to come back and ask us what we would like to drink and if we were ready to order. After they came back we have sat here for almost an hour waiting for our food. And there’s only 4 other tables. 2 of which we are ahead. Found a piece of hair in my food when we got it. They put a disc grace to the name “vale inn” this place was alot better when the Vales owned it.

Made a stop on Easter Sunday in my “hometown”. Had seen great reviews on this cafe on FaceBook. Food and service outstanding. Worth stopping in this quaint little SW WI town for the food at atmosphere!

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! !! I had RAW bacon on my BLT. .. the easiest thing to make. .My boyfriend got the steak and asked for RARE. ..ANOTHER way easy thing to cook. . Sizzle flip. . Sizzle flip. .. Needless to say it was VERY well done.. jerky. .. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. . They should’ve been shut down for serving RAW bacon! !!!!! I wouldn’t even give them one star!!!

Visited here for a ‘breakfast buffet’. Very limited choices, food has been out/under a warmer way too long. Not very clean/sanitary and the food was poor quality.

I was very disappointed, crappy service had to wait over an hour for our food, the table was dirty with dirty dishes still on it, others got attended to before we did. As we were polite, the food was amazing, just wish service was better.
