Great views, decent food, but service needs work

One of the best parts of Borrego Rooftop is the view — overlooking Petco Park and the surrounding skyline, it really gives you a great sense of the city.

The food was good — we tried the steak fries and grilled steak. The flavor was solid, not mind-blowing, but enjoyable.

Drinks? Cold beer and carajillos — hard to go wrong there.

The service, unfortunately, wasn’t at the same level. It took about 15 -20 minutes just to get a waiter assigned and take our drink order. Later, as we stayed to enjoy the fresh night air, the server repeatedly brought us the check without us asking for it — even after I ordered more drinks. It got a little awkward when I had to hand it back a second time.

I always leave a good tip because I respect everyone’s work, but it’s not ideal when you’re still ordering and get pushed the check multiple times.

Overall: amazing view, decent food, drinks are reliable — just hope for a better service experience next time.

Out of this world views! There was a game going on and the roar of the crowd was a rush.
Service was excellent. We talked with our Server about baseball, cocktails and all upbeat
Good pour on the cocktail with requested extra garnish. Very nice touch.
The bar is super clean and allowed family children to accompany the adults.
Really liked this place.

Borrego Rooftop is a hidden gem perched on the 9th floor of Hotel Indigo in the Gaslamp Quarter. Whether you’re a guest at the hotel or just looking for a great rooftop hangout, this spot is open to the public after 4 PM and definitely worth checking out.

One of the highlights here is the incredible view—overlooking downtown San Diego with a direct line of sight into Petco Park, home of the Padres. It’s a perfect place to grab a drink before a game or just unwind while watching the city buzz below.

The drink menu is impressive, offering a wide variety of liquors and creative mixed drinks, so there’s something for everyone. They also have food available to order, which makes it easy to spend a few hours just soaking it all in.

Whether you’re seated at the bar, along the railing for the best views, or lounging by one of the cozy patio fireplaces, Borrego Rooftop gives you a relaxed, elevated experience in every sense of the word. A great vibe, great views, and a perfect way to enjoy San Diego’s beautiful evenings.

New rooftop at Indigo hotel. amazing views of east village, downtown, and overseeing portion of the Padres stadium. This place can get a bit hot during a sunny summer day, but definitely worth the visit! They also had a dj for some live hits. its a great little spot for happy hour, sunset views, or an intimate time with friends. We tried their margaritas, and the presentation spoke for itself. in addition, it tasted balanced, not too sweet or too strong.

The rooftop during the day would be a nice view of the ballpark if you are on the far right side. At night we could hear music from a concert there but not see anything. The fire pits were nice and the heaters worked great. Our waiter was friendly but really seemed a bit overly assertive in her statements. But still nice. Our drinks were good. That’s about all i can say that is positive. The rooftop had maybe 4 -5 couples on it and yet our food came out cold. My waffle fries were not just fried but it seems deep fried to death. Usually waffle fries are crispy but tender when you bite into them. These were like potato chips…and cold. Mole should be chocolately..not this mole – it had a bit of bite instead. The beans were cold as well. Is the kitchen in a sub basement and delivered to the roof top by sloths? Why when there’s hardly any guests should food arrive cold. For a big hotel the food was like a sad diner on it’s last legs. Wish we had read the reviews before wasting our money on this sad sad dinner.

I was so grateful that Borrego Rooftop allowed us to make a weeknight dinner reservation for a group of 11. Located on the 9th floor of the hotel, the bar area is absolutely stunning with amazing views of Petco Stadium and the Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego. They have comfortable seating with fire pits on the roof to keep you warm. Our server was excellent—very attentive, and handled such a large group with complicated food and drink orders very well.

The food and drinks were fantastic—a bit expensive, but so, so delicious and ultimately worth the cost. Probably the best food we ate in San Diego! I enjoyed the crispydilla appetizer, borrego fried fish taco, and Sonoran sunset drink. Among our party we tried most things on the menu and enjoyed it all. The shoestring fries, in particular, were absolutely fantastic—perfectly seasoned and crispy.

I would give this restaurant 5/5 stars, but we were a bit surprised at the end of the meal to see that we were charged $94 for waters for the table. Aside from being asked at the beginning of the night if we wanted still or sparkling water (we chose still), we were not warned that the cost of waters and water refills would be so exorbitant. I wish they had been upfront with the cost—had we known, we likely would have elected for a cheaper option, or at least declined the refills. Just something to be aware of before dining here!

This rooftop is located on the 9th floor of the hotel. As soon as you get out of the elevator the restaurant will be to your left. There is a bar area and another seating area on the other side. It is a very chill, calm environment. I went for the first time with some friends to have dinner and the food and service was great. Mario our server was funny, very informative, attentive, polite, and would constantly check in on us to see if we needed anything. The hostess was also very nice and showed me where I could find the restroom and stated they have blankets incase it ever got too cold. I chose to sit near a fire pit and that kept me warm enough to be comfortable. The seating and the view is amazing. I ordered the mojo de ajo chicken, it was actually really good in my opinion. It is served with this sort of crusted bean cake that was phenomenal, never had anything like it. I also had a glass of the Mexican blend wine which was not too dry nor too sweet, but I would say a bit more on the drier side. Overall we had a great experience, absolutely loved and enjoyed it here. Thank you Mario for an unforgettable night!

Loved our server. Great place to watch the sunset. Got mezcal with a splash of pineapple juice and a jalapeño slice, it was perfect. We also ordered the chips with salsa and guacamole and falafel balls.

I stayed at the hotel and thought that the rooftop bar sounded really cool. And it was. Awesome atmosphere with an amazing rooftop view of PETCO park. Fire Pit and comfortable seating.

But the service wasn’t great. I first came up around 5:00 and even though there were only a few people here, nobody even acknowledged my presence and I left without anyone noticing I was even there

After going elsewhere for dinner and drinks, I decided to try one more time with a nightcap. This time, I was greeted and seated right away, but then they seemed to have forgotten about me. Took about 35 minutes for me to get a drink.

Ordered a margarita and it was very good but after being there for an hour, I was only able to get one drink

Borrego is spectacular – great for regular dining and group events; fun location, delicious food, excellent cocktails, and a stunning view (double points for overlooking the baseball game’s fireworks).

We held a corporate gathering here and it was perfect – Jesus and his team took such good care of us, I wish every city had a venue like this for our events.

Cannot recommend Borrego and the Hotel Indigo enough – thanks team!!
