So beyond glad that Bordertown came to Bellingham! I feel like they bring such a phenomenal take on the dishes they serve and everything, from their meat forward to vegetarian dishes, are so, so delicious. Great flavors, incredibly friendly staff, great prices and quality and the perfect addition to the lineup of local businesses on N State Street. Can’t wait to go back!

I was starving and a coworker suggested this place. I placed a phone order for pick up. It was easily located and had plenty of parking. The woman was preparing the my food as I entered, she greeted me with a warm smile and I will be right with you. Cozy atmosphere and wonderful smells!
I ordered the steak breakfast burrito and it was amazing! Not only was it massive but it kept me satisfied all day. I did have to eat it in 3 meals. You could see all of the fresh ingredients inside. 10/10 highly recommend.

We had the huevos rancheros (for dinner – yes they do serve breakfast all day!) and two veggie tacos, and we enjoyed our meal. The menu doesn’t specify whether the red sauce, green sauce, and beans (refried and whole) are vegetarian, but when I asked I was assured that they are. Self-serve cold water and red/green salsas are available. The decor and the presentation of the food is very basic – nothing fancy here – but that’s fine with us. The food wasn’t loaded with cheese, but that too is OK with us. Prices were very reasonable. One caution: we went when the weather was unusually hot (82 degrees F) and the temp inside was only a couple degrees cooler than outside. Keep that in mind if you’re heat-sensitive.

Our favorite Mexican restaurant. Authentic food that tasted like back in Mexico, There was a bit of a wait but the staff was friendly and the food was fresh, The Flautas were so good, and so were the Sopes.
The drinks had a reference to a Bible verse on them, but it was very subtle and classy, that it was not intrusive for non-Christian’s.
The owner is a great man who you can tell puts his heart into his restaurant.

Randomly found this place for quick lunch and a break for our baby, food is delicious and very clean environment. Will definitely come back again!

Wonderful food; exceptional faulty food at this seat yourself, order at counter establishment. A welcome edition with well prepared almost home made Mexican dishes. The Mole and Macha Salasa are amazing as is the Birria Quesotaco Platter.

It’s currently 2:30am as I’m writing this review. Not because I’m so excited to share my experience, rather because I’m still up taking Pepto shots to the head in between running to the baño. It’s coming up on 12 hrs of solid fun after my first visit to BMG. I’m assuming it’s food poisoning as it was the only meal I had after a LONG day at the laundry mat. A friend & I had heard all the hype & figured we’d check it out on the way home before we faced the mountain of laundry that was gonna be facing us at home.
Location was close to get to, parking was easy. Good start to the visit. When we got there it was empty. I was surprised, especially after all I had heard about it. We were greeted & instructed to check out the menu & order when we were ready.
We kept it simple with tacos. Pretty hard to mess up & always a good choice.
On the menu it listed tacos as $2.90 a super reasonable price! We actually assumed it would be a select few meats for that price point. When we asked we were told it was all the meats listed. Fantastic!
3 asada I decided on & 1 lengua & 2 pastor my friend got. When I looked at the receipt I noticed they weren’t actually all the same price of $2.90 & the lengua was more expensive. $3xx which is no biggie but if a customer asks prior to ordering that should be communicated that there is a different charge.
We took a seat & as I looked around I was surprised to see as much religious decor as I did. I don’t have an issue with anyone’s beliefs or how they worship.
I am however not interested in eating my lunch while looking at scriptures or God is Life posted all over the walls. My drink cup had Joshua 1:9 on it under the company logo. That’s super weird & something that shouldn’t be pushed upon customers. If I wanted to eat somewhere that welcomed religion or faith of whatever kind I would specifically seek out somewhere like that.
Then the tacos came. It had to get better now! It just had to. Tacos make any situation better. Until this time.
I don’t know if it was the time of day or that we were the only customers when we came in but they definitely weren’t fresh. And if you’ve had lengua then you already know what I’m saying. If you look at the pic you can see the lime had a brown ring on the rind, that’s definitely fresh lol
We tossed our plates & left disappointed. The best thing I had was the iced tea lol it was tasty!!
We got home (less than 20mins) & took that dang laundry in knowing that was the next chore coming my way! UNTIL it hit & it came fast & hard. I’ll save you details
I msgd my friend & she tells me she’s been throwing up since she walked thru the door. I didn’t even have a chance to mention my struggle to her before she said how horrible she felt.
I won’t speak on something unless I feel it needs to be said. I wish I was here saying how amazing everything was like everyone else was. Are y’all ordering off a secret menu? Special time of day?
Y’all are all religious so you just pray for it on Sunday?
I’m just confused.
I just think we have SO many amazing local places that I much rather would have dropped my dollars at today.
And I probably wouldn’t be up chasing Pepto shots at 2 in the morning ✌

Fantastic experience at Bordertown Mexican Grill! The owner, ABI, was super nice, helpful, and accommodating throughout my visit. I ordered the chicken taco salad with their chipotle dressing and it was absolutely delicious – truly amazing! The food here is incredibly good, service is fast, professional, and accommodating, and the prices are fair for the quality you receive. Only paid street parking was available from what I could tell, but it was worth the minor inconvenience. Highly recommend this gem! SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES!!

Bordertown does indeed have pretty decent Mexican food. The only thing I’d like to ask about is how to get my food a little spicier. Food is tasty here, though, and the service is fast and friendly. I enjoy the ambiance as well. Bordertown is one of my favorite places in Bellingham.

I would give 5 stars if they changed their guacamole portion, because $12.25 for a small paper cup of guacamole with no table service or proteins added is just highway robbery. The rest of the menu is relatively fairly priced, especially the tacos, and the quality is great. But the guacamole seems to be taking advantage of the customers.
