Bootleggers has, without a doubt, one of the best burgers in Lynchburg. The burger was incredible, the fries were on point, and while the price seemed a little high at first, it was absolutely worth every dollar. The atmosphere inside was lively and welcoming, and the staff was super helpful from start to finish. I grabbed my order to-go and enjoyed it on the patio overlooking the park and amphitheater — easily a 10/10 experience.

This was fun. It was a bit loud in the bar area with a basketball game going on. The timing of our appetizer and food was the same but due to the wait and it all coming out together, they comped it without us even saying anything, which was appreciated. The pretzel bites with horseradish mustard and beer cheese was delicious!!! You better like horseradish though. I got the Smashburger and my husband got the Smoking Gun, we both enjoyed. The onion rings I liked because they were bread battered and the coating didn’t just break off when biting into it (these are extra though). The alcoholic milkshakes were good. We got the Bailey’s Irish and Grasshopper and both were really good.

Wow, just wow. It started when Ethan came from the kitchen to confirm my burger temp to coordinate with my crispy fries! Who does that!!!! Crissy behind the bar was attentive and efficient, couldn’t ask for more. Fantastic view, awesome service. Should be a requirement to visit here before you open a restaurant. Burger perfect, fries perfect, service… Spot on!

Great place. The food was great. There is a balcony where you can sit outside and enjoy the scenery. Mostly specialty burgers and a good selection of appetizers. They do serve alcohol. I had the Smoking Gun burger. It was awesome. Food was hot. The bathrooms were clean. Definitely recommend. We went on a Sunday late afternoon before the rush.
My only complaint was from the time we asked for the check until we left, it took 20 minutes.

Food was delicious and good sized portions. I had the bourbon mushroom burger. It was very tasty but be prepared to use plenty of napkins. The onion rings were cooked a bit more than necessary but still very good. Husband had the happy hour Smash burger with an order of sweet potato fries. The burger was very simple and good for a light meal. The portion of sweet potato fries was very generous. Service was very prompt and friendly. We were there pretty early so the noise level was good for conversation. We were fortunate to get a table by the window so could enjoy the view.

New to town and thought I’d stop by for a glass of wine on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. I had a plans elsewhere shortly after so I figured I’d kill some time and try out this place I’d heard good things about.

The landscaping at the entrance was really cute, and the steps down to the restaurant were adorable. Not to mention the fabulous view! I wish I’d had more time to sit out there and enjoy it!

Anyway, I sat at the bar where a friendly woman named Chris (spelling??) Helped me. I only ordered a glass of wine, but she was so sweet and helpful. She gave me some advice about the nightlife in the area and even put the VT game on the TV for me. Thanks, girl! I’ll hopefully back to visit soon!

I can’t comment on the food but I’d love to visit again!

Oh! The music was on point, definitely a laid back vibe. Loved it!

Stopped by on our way through to Charlottesville. Parking isn’t great. Had to meander around to find a space to park. Restaurant wasn’t crowded for a Monday evening so was seated right away and chose to sit outside. Lovely views from the patio. Service was a bit slow. When we did order, the food came out pretty quickly. Had to go in and ask for napkins, silverware, and condiments. Hubby had the tuna burger. The fish was a bit overcooked but good. I had the southern belle, and it was yummy. Paired our burgers with onion rings and the garlic parm fries. They were both average. Overall the atmosphere/views make this place great, and the food is above average. Definitely give it a try if you get a chance. They were also playing great 80’s music!!!

First off, kudos for offering a delicious gluten free bun, AND for indicating the gluten free items already on the menu!

The San Miguel burger was superb, with just the right amount of heat to it! The Butcher’s Choice was well flavored, with a great horseradish mustard. Both burgers were cooked exactly to order, not overcooked like most places. The Potachos were so much fun, with an impressive amount of toppings and the house made chips were perfect!

Our server, Eden, was friendly, attentive, and helpful.

The only thing I’d suggest for this restaurant (and the reason they didn’t earn five stars) is to offer fountain drinks, rather than just canned soda.

Service was great! Our waiter knew about celiac, and it seems like staff are well advised about food intolerance/allergies. The gluten free bun was great! My mom and I believe it is the same one another restaurant I’ve reviewed before used. They also label the things that are gluten free, which was nice. And for being graduation weekend at Liberty, it wasn’t too loud or anything when we went. Would recommend!.

Love, love, LOVE this place! My family and I always make a point to go to Bootleggers when we are in Lynchburg (which is not often!).

Very neat interior, and you can overlook the train tracks and canal/river when sitting outside. Our server Cara was awesome! She was super friendly and connected with our group easily.

The main reason my family comes here is their burgers are incredible! I like that you can build your own burger with the add-ons you want. Their panko-crusted onion rings are also very crispy and have a little zing to it with whatever seasonings they use. We also got dessert for the 1st time and… IT WAS SO GOOD! HIGHLY recommend the Bourbon caramel sunday. Be prepared, though, because it is big! Their strawberry milkshake has one of the best strawberry flavors I’ve had in a long time!

Bootleggers is a family tradition, and we will keep coming back whenever we are around!
