You can feel the love and intentionality as soon as you walk into the shop. I’m so excited to see where Boone’s will go! It’s a special business
However I waited about 30 mins for them, so that certainly takes the edge off and sours the experience a bit.
The staff are individually bagging EVERY bagel.. which is a big time sink. If they had given me the option to bag them together, I would have taken it. I get that some people don’t want their everything bagels touching their cinnamon bagels.. but its a lot of bags. Maybe they could find smaller paper wrappers? Just seemed like a lot to me. That’s just a nitpick.
Also their website menu is absurdly wrong. Half of what we thought we could get wasnt even on the in-store menu. Management needs to fix that immediately.
Finally, there’s no queue control in store. There’s always a random snake line inside the store that curls around and the customers have to explain where it starts to each other… would it be that difficult to set up a proper queue to manage the line a little better? Maybe im just naive.
As for the amount of time it takes to get through the line.. what I witnessed was people not ready to order when it was their turn. Everyone knows they sell out fast so it’s a good idea to have your second and third choices especially if you’re ordering for a big group, make sure you have their second and third choices too. I guess it would help if there was a clear sign up high with what’s available and what’s sold out then they would have more time to think about what they want.
The staff has been the friendliest I’ve seen downtown, greeting you with a smile and cheery attitude.
One recommendation would be fairlife protein shakes in the refrigerator, helps a lot for people wanting a protein punch with their bagel.
Thank you for a great new business in Leonardtown!
I’ve given this place multiple chances to find its groove, but it seems they’re more interested in ‘complicating’ the experience than actually boiling a bagel. I used to check their Facebook to see if they were sold out, but I’ve since been blocked… apparently, they don’t just use AI to generate their content, they use it to filter out anyone who ‘likes’ a critique.
If they put as much effort into their dough’s chew as they do into policing their comments, we might actually have a real bagel shop here. As it stands, save your time and the line; the grocery store offers a better texture and a lot less drama. Downgrading to 1 star since they’ve made it clear they aren’t interested in feedback or improvement.
……
I stopped in after seeing the line out the door. Staff was friendly and the everything seasoning tasted good, but the bagels themselves were more “round bread” than actual bagel. The dough didn’t have much chew and there wasnt much resistance when you press it, plus none of that glossy sheen you get from a proper boil.
We got three egg everything bagels and one looked nice, the other two were kinda lopsided and uneven. Flavor was fine but the texture just wasn’t there.
Not a bad experience, just not really worth the hype or the wait this time. I’ll give it another try tho to see if it was just opening week jitters because the potential is there they just gotta tighten it up a bit.
There are hundreds of third party businesses that delete google reviews…
I’ve noticed reviews disappearing from this business…hey Google how is that allowed?
So my review…the owners literally announced on their social media page that the bagels are frozen (their “recipes” but made at another place…hint look up bagel distributors and match the flavors)…how in the world do you run out of frozen bagels?!?!!
And the rudeness and arrogance you are welcomed with when you enter, I just don’t understand.
Oh well, grocery stores sell a famous Brooklyn bagel without the attitude.
Hey Google, are you going to allow them to pay to remove this review?
The bagels were fine, but my overall feeling is that for the price and wait, the quality of the savory bagels was only better by a little vs what is available at a decent grocery store. The sweet bagels are fairly unique and are likely the bigger draw.
I’d love to come back and try again once they’ve found some efficiencies and worked out some kinks. But for now I don’t think I’ll be back and wouldn’t necessarily recommend it unless the sweet bagels are what you’re after (in which case, get there early!)
