Retro-looking burger joint with a round, tabletop fireplace plus indoor or car-side dining options.

Boomer’s Drive-In in Bellingham, near the 5 freeway, harkens back to the 1950’s drive-ins of old. Boasting a classic menu of various Burgers and combinations, Boomer’s is a very tasty restaurant to spend some time either inside the dining room eating and talking with friends and family or in your car parked in a drive-in spot under a cover to keep the rain at bay. Inside, the dining room boasts a circular wood fireplace that keeps the window filled room with constant warmth in cold or cool weather and gives great ambience while you wait for takeout or munch on some good burgers, fries, etc. I can’t get over how delicious the food actually is! And they don’t mind if you ask for no added salt on your burger like I do. All the staff are patient, kind, and very informative should you have questions. The restaurant and bathroom are kept very clean, although the bathroom is quite small which is fine and only adds to the quaintness. The prices are low when compared to burgers at other places and much more tasty! This place is quite popular with the local college crowd and families. Whether you’re just driving on the 5 freeway or jaunting around Bellingham, I highly recommend going to Boomer’s Drive-in for a quick bite or a lengthy sit down. You won’t be disappointed.

Promising start with cute decor and reasonable prices, but took 30+ minutes to get our order (burger, fries, chicken burger, milkshake). Admittedly seemed like a kinda busy day, but we saw people order after us and get their food before, we’re fairly confident our order was forgotten as it was pretty cold once we got home, and we got it right away after asking. Everything tasted fine, but portion size of the sandwich was pretty shockingly small.
Overall would recommend going somewhere more expensive, but higher quality- maybe on a less busy day it’s better though, who knows.

I moved out of state in 2018 and just got back. Had to come check out one of my fave burger spots especially during Boomuary. Unfortunately, it was a pretty poor experience, I came twice just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. The first night I came about 45min before close, got my burger and started eating right away and it was super dry and closer to cold than hot, I couldn’t finish it. It was busy so I’m not sure why the patty was cold, the only thing I could assume is they cooked too many burgers and got ahead of orders and then are setting burgers on the side to get cold after being overcooked and then serving them. Anyways, I came back a second time, this time around noon to see if maybe coming when they open would be better, same poor experience. The burger was lukewarm at best and overcooked, not sure what they’re doing in the kitchen but they’re going to kill this place if it keeps up. I took a picture of the burger on my second visit, you can see where they burnt the outside and there’s no juice or liquid or anything yet the cheese isn’t even melted, like I said not sure what they’re doing in the kitchen to accomplish that.

This used to be a phenomenal local spot, now the food isn’t even worth the $4 for boomuary. The burger patties were burnt to a crisp and crunchy, the cheese wasn’t even melted. The kids grilled cheese was charred black. The fact they served this shows they don’t care about the quality of their food.

Classic drive-in style had us pull off the road at a high speed with excitement. Super rad drive up menus, a friendly and attentive server, and fun vibes from every vehicle around us. The menu is well-written with puns and an impressive selection. I found the Bacon Swiss burger to be a bit lacking, but the fries were great and my husband loved his chicken burger. Will definitely go again.

Boomers is a Bellingham classic… but if you ask me the only thing you except here is consistent inconsistency! Sometimes the food comes out fast and sometimes it takes hours! Sometimes the burgers are thick and juicy and sometimes they’re burnt! Sometimes the staff is friendly and capable and sometimes every part of our order is wrong!
I like the prices and it’s worth it on a good day, but I’m often left disappointed. Also they were out of cookie dough ice cream.

I love everything about this place! We stopped here randomly on our way back to Canada and it was a fantastic experience. From the ambiance to the food and the staff is nice. I had the special of the week: bacon and guacamole burger and it was amazingly tasty and good, I didn’t expect it to be so good! Onion rings are also a blast and I strongly recommend. I wanted to order an ice cream but I was too full. I will definitely come back!!

I did an order online, when I went to pick up they wanted me to stand in line behind 10 people that needed to order food before getting my food, that was already paid for. I talked the server into handing me my food before it got cold. When I got it, it was warm, not hot. It had been sitting for a while and my order was supposed to have onion rings and I got french fries. It’s disappointing that I paid extra for onion rings and did not get them. I’m surprised that they don’t have a better system for handing out online orders to customers while the food is hot.

Great sandwiches and onion rings at unbeatable prices. Yeah you may wait a long time during special deals but the staff are sweet and everyone is doing their best. I thought it was good and well worth what we paid. No complaints!
