One of few places to eat that deserves every bit of credit and praise possible. Always fantastic service. Surprisingly down to earth and friendly owner. Lastly the most important thing with sushi places that nowhere else seems to make good on. The fish. Bonsai has amazing fish. Yellowtail, salmon, tuna and scallop (my absolute favorite thing ever) all very fresh and easy to eat. Thank you guys for about 7 years of perfection!

I’ve been coming here for over 20 years, long before the new owners took over, and it’s gone completely downhill. Last night I got takeout sushi with hair in it — not just one, but multiple. Absolutely disgusting.
When I called the first time, they offered to replace the roll, which was fine. But after finding more hair, I threw everything away. When I called back, I even said I’d still pay for the food I did eat (fried rice, soup, and salad), just not the contaminated sushi. Instead of apologizing or making it right, the manager argued with me, acted like I was lying, and refused to take responsibility.
That’s not just bad food safety — it’s horrible customer service. After decades of loyalty, I will never eat here again, and I’ll be reporting them to the health department.

Food is great. Only issue is they state open 4:30-10:00 pm. Not true. In last 6 weeks I have gone there several times between 9:20-9:45 for some late night Sushi (Not hibachi). They have been closed. I mentioned to owner about being closed before stated closing time, he simply said if not busy they close. I suggested he change the cloing time to 9:30 instead of 10:00pm. He dismissed the idea. I do understand if not busy closing early, but as often as it is happening, he needs to change closing time to 9:30pm to be consistent.
One time suggested he open for lunch, but he dismissed the idea. So if I want Sushi for lunch, I go to Shogun at Hurstbourne & Taylorsville Rd. They do close at 9:30pm!
