My wife and I made the 50-minute trip to Bonnie Cafe, which was our first mistake. We ordered the buffet because we wanted to have some fried catfish on Friday at noon. The catfish was good. The first round we had wasn’t very warm, but the second helping of fish was hot and crispy and good, but that’s about it. The cooked cabbage was good and hot but was not spiced for flavoring. The Black Eyed Peas were good and hot but had no seasoning. The fried chicken looked like it had been sitting there for a week. It was dried out and looked terrible. They had liver and onions, but the liver was so tough you couldn’t cut it. The pork chops they had were less than half an inch thick and looked like they had been cooked till Kingdom Come. They looked like shoe leather. We didn’t even try those meats because they looked so unappetizing. The slaw was good, the potato salad was exceptionally good, but the mashed potatoes were, of course, powdered potatoes. The corn was, of course, right out of a can. The spaghetti and marinara sauce looked all dried out, and the cheese in the macaroni and cheese looked curdled, and just chunks, not creamy at all, just chunked up, terrible. The whole experience was not good. The waitresses were good and friendly. They do have a halfway decent dessert bar, but we will not be going back. In fact, at the price, I would say, stay away. I don’t like giving bad reviews like this but I have to tell the truth as I see it. If this review was helpful, please acknowledge that. Thank you. Our first time in Illinois, here on a business trip, we always make it a point to try somewhere new. This place did NOT disappoint!! A home-cooked style buffet with so many options and amazing armed forces memoriablia. The atmosphere was welcoming and the food was great! I was thrilled when I found Mackerel haha. Thank you for a great experience while we were in town! We loved everything about it!

Flew in with a buddy from MN enroute to FL. It is a great halfway point KMVN with fuel and service from SRT aviation which was also great! Very nice surprise to have a great restaurant right on the field! The home cooked food was a hit!

Food was excellent. I saw that their weekly lunch buffet is $10.99 and Saturday lunch. Sundays are $16.99 but I had the ham, chicken, Turkey and of course sweet potatoes. Was very good.

This place has a relaxed atmosphere, great food, awesome service, reasonable prices, Veterans museum, and so much more! We drove over 3.5 hours today to meet with other family members and had lunch. To say that we were all filled to the top (great portions and tasty) with our food choices would be an understatement. If you get a chance, definitely stop and have a meal here! 5 stars from us all!!!

My daughter and I went she said the fish and chicken was sincerely fantastic! I really enjoyed the salad bar and many of the sides. I didn’t hear any complaints about anything. Yummy!

2 adults, 1 child (5 year old) lunch buffet $48. And some change. Service was horrible. Everything on the bar was bland. I thought a burger, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, brats and corn dog nuggets were hard to mess up but apparently not. They definitely managed to mess all of them up! McDonald’s would have been cheaper and better or the Mexican restaurant. Never again! Was not worth the money at all. Also sports parents and players beware they have a sign saying no cleates. Considering soccer is played on the grounds you would think they would welcome the business. Very disappointed in the meal and the service especially for the price

1st time here! We came after a field trip around 1040 am and it wasn’t busy at all. Our server was awesome. Food was good. My 4 year old loves the pancakes. They have a menu and/ or Buffet with a salad bar.

Food was ok nothing spectacular will not make the hour drive back to eat there only thing on buffet that I found that I liked was the veggies and salad bar excluding the broccoli salad it tasted as if the broccoli was bad, service was great staff was super friendly and atmosphere was great
