Love this place! My 80+ year old parents usually will not eat out at any restaurant. Then I convinced them to come here with my husband and myself. Needless you say, they can’t wait to visit again. My Dad loved the options on the food bar especially the fried chicken. He was pleasantly surprised at the dessert table too. They hardly ever go out to any restaurants, so I am over the moon happy that they liked this place. We will go back in the spring. Right now the winter cold is keeping us inside more.
Next visit we are going to take some time to visit the military honor walls. I noticed there was a service for one at the entrance to honor our fallen soldiers. What a beautiful tribute to those who gave All. I salute this place for their dedication to our armed services and the dedication and their patriotic values. This place is a hidden treasure and well worth visiting.

Had breakfast there Sunday 9-22. Very clean and fast friendly service. Big portions and very good food. Will definitely return.
Have been back to eat 3 times in the last 3 months. Had the burger of the month each time. September was the fried portobello burger that was amazing. October was the Philly cheese cheeseburger and that was good too just not as good. November is the chili cheeseburger and it was big and very good,better than October but not as good as September. All three were better than you can get at most places.

We were here for bow hunting for a couple of weeks and ate here twice. The biscuits and gravy were good, and my boyfriend LOVED the ham (way too thin and fatty for my taste). Everything else was fair to middlin’. Eggs, toast, pancakes, bacon, sausage – all fine but nothing tasted homemade. The smothered chicken was a tiny, overcooked breast with CANNED mushrooms and mozzarella cheese. My baked potato was a little on the hard side, but fine. The yeast roll was good (premade) but since the included chocolate cake never showed up before we left after we ate our meal, I can’t review it. The prices are great and the portions are generous, so I can see why it’s popular with the locals and hunters. It’s a good thing for them there’s no competition locally!

My visit was October 18th, 2025. I saw multiple reviews online about this little Bonnie Cafe in Bonnie, Illinois. At first we did not think it was open. But it was. Just like other reviewers mentioned, our food was quite good. We only ordered two cheeseburger platters, but they were very tasty. The other food that the waitresses brought out to other guests also look quite good. Prices are very reasonable! They have a variety of pies and cakes for dessert and pudding. We enjoy going to diners in little towns vs.chain places. This little cafe did not disappoint.

The service was excellent, the food came fresh and hot. I highly recommend the breakfast bowl. I chose scrambled eggs and bacon, no cheese and a biscuit instead of toast. Crumbled the biscuit, added it to the bowl. Love that the potatoes on the bottom had green peppers . Was absolutely delicious. The cook did an amazing job. Had a fantastic waitress.

This place is six stars!! We stopped in on our way home after a 10 drive… In need of replenishment that didn’t consist of food from a chain. After searching hard, we found this cafe. Where else can someone get an entire meal…I mean AN ENTIRE MEAL (dessert included) for eight dollars?! THIS PLACE! To top that off, it’s mostly homemade! (the mashed potatoes were instant, for example)
The atmosphere is homely and extremely relaxed. They have menus to peruse, but all around the restaurant there are white boards with the days specials which I assume must change. With a dinner purchase, THREE sides are included (so many choices) , a roll/cornbread, plus a piece of cake! Three portions were just right! It was a Tuesday evening around six and though it was busy, it was still very chill. The service was attentive but non invasive… Just an overall great experience!! The meatloaf was delicious! I couldn’t believe the amount of food we had for the cost of around $20 before tip. (There were two of us)
The server informed us that they are doing a remodel soon, so check if they’re open… Apparently after Father’s Day they’ll be finished. But if they are, this is a for sure check-it-out spot if you want real food. It was a bit of a drive off I-64.. (maybe five minutes) but well worth it. We had no issues parking a large flat bed truck. Unfortunately the ice cream shack wasn’t open… Maybe next time!

I ordered my burger very well done. This thing was raw. Not just pink, but raw uncooked meat. It was a carry out order so I didn’t bother going back to get another. It’d probably be the same anyway.

Burger for him, grilled chicken for me. Boxes to go for the left overs. Service was top notch. Cooks in back are quick and good. Highly recommend but get there about 11. If you wait til noon, you might be waiting for a table.
