Just had an incredible meal at Bonney’s Restaurant, and wow… absolutely unforgettable!

From the moment the food hit the table, you could tell it was made with love and serious flavor. The grilled chicken was perfectly seasoned and juicy, the fish was rich and smoky with that amazing char that brings out deep flavor, and everything paired beautifully with rice, pickled cabbage, and the soft potato on the side. Every bite was satisfying — sobrang sarap!

The portions were generous, the food was fresh, and the flavors reminded me of authentic home cooking. If you enjoy bold, grilled flavors and comforting meals, this spot will not disappoint.

Salamat, Bonney’s Restaurant! Thank you for the amazing food and warm vibes. I will definitely be coming back again. Talagang masarap! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐10/10.

Delicious food and a very warm and welcoming experience. We ordered the jerk chicken and pork, curried beef lumpia, and plantains. Every dish was perfectly seasoned and very delicious. The plantains were one of my favorite dishes. I am impressed with how this restaurant perfectly blends Filipino/Jamaican flavors and culture. You can definitely taste the love in this food. I highly recommend this restaurant! Amazing food and service. Salamat

When we walked in the owner welcomed me and my partner and our friend with warmth and smiles. He showed us the menu and offered us free drink for us to try! The place smelled so good we wanted to try both proteins of the pork and chicken. So one of us ordered the chicken plate and the other the pork. And it’s soooo good, I love a juicy chicken and all the food was very well seasoned but not salty. The pork wasn’t dry either and very tender. The lumpia was very good but if you do have a sensitive stomach it could be a little on the heavier side. I will die for their coconut sweet plantain, which had jackfruit slices as wel! <3

Overall it’s a very good hybrid of Filipino and Jamaican cuisine. The portions are very worth the price, we had left overs ( baon) for the next day haha. Please check them out they’re worth the drive.

Oh and if you also have allergies they are very cautious and accommodating. Very good experience.

We had such a memorable experience last night at Bonney’s a Filipino Jamaican Fusion restaurant. We went for their kamayan buffet-style dinner, which featured many of their most popular dishes, and it did not disappoint. The meats were incredibly flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and paired so well with the rich, aromatic rice and tasty sauces—every bite felt comforting and thoughtfully prepared.

I also tried their raspberry vanilla lassi juice, and it was absolutely delicious—refreshing, smooth, and the perfect complement to the meal.

What truly made the night special, though, was the hospitality. The owners were genuinely kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. They even allowed us to stay after hours, continuing to eat, talk, and enjoy the space without ever feeling rushed. That level of warmth and care is rare and unforgettable.

This wasn’t just a dinner—it was an experience filled with great food, great energy, and heartfelt conversation. Highly recommend.

If I could give Bonney’s 6 stars, I truly would.
We drove two hours from home to eat here and would (and will) happily do it again.
Every dish we tried was perfectly balanced and harmonious, fresh and delicious.
One of us is Jamaican and the other Filipino and we talked about how the flavors were blended so well that you almost didn’t notice the fusion until the other mentioned what about the bite reminded them of home.
The owners were both kind and extremely welcoming, which is just the cherry on top of the whole experience. Thanks again and we’ll see you soon!

I consider myself a foodie and always try to give an honest review.

The curry beef lumpia was very good and paired nicely with the mango habanero sauce. That was the highlight of my order.

The oxtail empanada was just okay. The seasoning was bland and lacked the kick I was expecting.

I also ordered the jerk chicken lunch platter, which was very disappointing. The chicken was undercooked with visible blood and raw flesh, as shown in the photos. I completely lost my appetite after seeing it. The seasoning was decent, but the texture and doneness were unacceptable. Lastly , the rice was soggy and the potato lacked flavor.

Customer service was also lacking. The owner was not very friendly, and the food was packaged in only a brown paper bag despite multiple sauces. The bag leaked into my car. I asked for a plastic bag or for it to be doubled, but there was no effort to help.

I want to support small businesses, but there are many areas that need improvement, especially food safety, seasoning, customer service, and packaging.

I just pray that I don’t get sick tonight from this undercooked chicken!

For those of you who don’t find yourselves in Metuchen often, get on the first NJ Transit train down there! This was one of the most innovative meals I’ve had in a long time (after Moon Rabbit in DC). Everything on this small menu blew me away! Each dish was perfectly seasoned, balanced, and executed. As a big fan of baba ghanoush, I fell in love with the Salted Egg & Eggplant Dip. Amazing umami and texture! The plantains and lumpia were also very smart and thought out—how do you retain the integrity of the flavor of each region? Both the jerk chicken and pork resonate with the full smoky flavor of Filipino bbq and the boldness and complexity of Jamaican jerk. And all the drinks perfectly complemented all the savory dishes.

Cute lil spot run by mom & pop that is well worth the stop. Saw a promo on instagram and was hella curious because of the cultural combination being served up. Place is small, but cozy and welcoming. The staff was very polite & attentive. We got the Adobo Ox tails, jerk chicken & pork, beef curry lumpia, coconut milk/ jackfruit sweet platanos and the calamansi (if you like lemonaid with a lil extra sour “cripwalk ompfh” to it, try it).

Food had “home cooking” energy going all through it and I wasn’t mad at it. Everything was tasty. Flavor off the jerk chicken was on deck. The Ox tails hit different for me. As a new experience it was enjoyable. My only gripe would be maneuvering the smaller pieces of oxtails & bones can be tricky so you can’t just dive in. You have to enjoy with a bit of caution. Same time, it can be par for the course with oxtails & in all fairness, it was fall off the bone action here. Also, this place gets the official “Brown people eat here seal of approval”. This is a good way to gauge if a restaurant is good. If it is frequented by various shades of brown ( be it latino, asian, black) and they are in there deep, you need to stick around and stuff your yap. This place is one of them. Be Ire & show them some Mahal Kita energy.

If you like flavour and perfect fusion food, Bonney’s is the place to be!! We came for their lunch special, and they offer discounts for students. The portions were perfect, and the food was delicious. We got an oxtail empanada, coconut plantain, free potato soup, jerk chicken, every drink on the menu, and a corn cheesecake which was to die for. This is not the last Bonney’s will see of us, we wish the community will see the true diamond this place is.
