Was very tasty and all you could ask for in an authentic Japanese restaurant. Easily some of Salem’s best Japanese food.

I randomly ordered food from this place because it was close to my home. I ordered the Gyoza. It was absolutely amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was beyond surprised with how delicious it was. I will absolutely be ordering more in the future. Do yourself a favor, get some food from this place. 10 out of 10.

This place is so delicious. They serve some comfort-style, authentic Japanese food at a reasonable price with a decent portion size. The gyoza are delicious, especially dipped in the soy and vinegar sauce, and the katsudon was perfect. The katsu was crispy and the meat was super juicy, and the egg around it was soft and savory. I am definitely heading back to try the curry and udon. Just note that when I was there, there was no where to sit, so plan on take out only. Also, there is no tap pay, so you will need to pay by card or cash. I actually paid by cash this last time, because the wifi signal was low when I was there and the card reader kept timing out. Regardless of these details, the food is worth it!!

This is sincere and quality Japanese comfort food. My husband and I stopped by and we’re only frustrated by how amazing everything sounded. Trust this place. If you like authentic Japanese you have found your spot. The curry is made with love.

Fantastic food from a tiny kitchen. Every single item we’ve had has been outstanding. The curry is spiced well and delicious, the fried chicken has a very flavorful batter, the grilled mackerel is great, and the best gyoza in town. Cannot recommend bonjapan highly enough.

Great place, great food, and wonderful service! Unfortunately, this gem is now hidden behind a taco truck. Please give this place a try, authentic Japanese food best in Salem. I highly recommend the curry and the shrimp fry!

My daughter and I stopped while traveling in the middle of a snowstorm. We have both lived in Japan and this place is really authentic. Definitely plan to stop here when you are traveling it’s right off the highway. The menu selection is really great

This place was AMAZING! For a little food cart run by one guy, he puts out the best Japanese comfort food this side of Japan. We had the curry, gyoza, and kake udon.
First, the curries were so aromatic and warming but not overpowering. She had Ebi and I had the classic Katsu. Both very very good.
Second, the gyoza were great by themselves. Didn’t need anything extra and were deliciously pan fried.
Lastly, the kake udon even though it is very basic by itself was very flavorful. The broth brought back memories of when I attended a local college in Japan.
All told, 10/10 and will definitely return. Do understand, it is only ONE guy cooking and it will take time. The end result though is well worth the wait.

I’ve been eyeing this place for quite some time now and I thought that it may be closed because I didn’t see cars by it whenever I drove by. GUYS. If you love Japanese cuisine and you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out! The plating isn’t huge like in other restaurants. On the contrary I would say that they have small plates but the flavors are delicious and it gives you a better opportunity to try more than one thing! The guy serving was super nice and you can tell that this is genuine Japanese cuisine. Highly recommend!
