*also note, we spent $100+ per person and got multiple meals as a team because that was our work budget. All dinners were between $25-35 and very reasonable
We waited over an hour for our food. When it finally arrived, the quality was not what I remembered. My lamb chops were extremely small, and I also ordered the vanilla whipped sweet potatoes. They had small white chunks mixed in, which didn’t seem right. When I asked the server, he said some of the sweet potatoes could have been white, but it still didn’t taste or look appealing.
One of my friends ordered her salmon well done. After eating part of it, she reached the middle and found it was raw. Instead of bringing her a new piece of salmon, the kitchen took the same salmon she had already been eating and grilled it longer, which was unacceptable.
We also ordered the Philly egg rolls, which were completely different from what we’ve had here before and were covered in cheese sauce. The salmon bites had a very fishy taste, and we ended up sending those back as well.
Our server truly tried his best throughout the night, but by the time we were ready to pay, he was flustered and mixed up most of the tickets, making it difficult for us to check out smoothly.
Overall, the experience was nothing like what it used to be. Between the long wait, food quality issues, and service breakdown at the end, this visit was a letdown. I hope the restaurant can get back to the quality it once had.
We had a pleasant conversation with a couple of beers outside before we went inside for dinner.
The jagersnitzel was the best I’ve ever had, but the best item was the Tso brussel sprouts. Delicious without the normal cabbage taste.
Our waitress was so pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere was perfect.
I am sorry I don’t live near Lexington because I would eat here all the time! (and gain lots of weight!)
If you are looking for a quiet place for an excellent meal, this is the place for you!
While we didn’t have a reservation, we were still promptly seated and taken care of. We started out with an appetizer of fried mushrooms (which weren’t specifically called fried mushrooms; it seems they’re no longer available at the moment, but I must say, they certainly taste healthier and heartier than most)! For our main course, my mom ordered the rosemary’s chicken with a side of butternut squash and I ordered breaded mahi-mahi served with spinach cream sauce and a side of crawdad poppers. The food was absolutely phenomenal! I personally loved the sweet sauce that was served with the poppers, and ended up dipping several pieces of fish in it. I also tried a drumstick from the chicken, which was oh-so-savory and well-seasoned. As someone who is normally a bit funny about how spinach is served, the sauce was also delicious. Whatever sauce they used for the squash was a bit sweet for my taste, but I don’t fault the restuarant for that; I didn’t even order it, after all!
Kyle, our waiter, was entertaining and polite; I had ordered a sweet tea to drink, and he shared an anecdote after my first refill about how his grandmother used to serve an overly sugary sweet tea he referred to as “diabetea”, which got a laugh out of my mom (who largely successfully avoids eating any sugar) and I (who’s been trying to quit their consumption of overly sugary foods) both. Speaking of sugar, Kyle tried to gauge our interest in ordering dessert, but we were both full; we assured him that next time we were in the area, we’d come back super hungry so we could try some!
We were also checked in on after we were done eating by a kind black gentleman whom I believe might’ve been the general manager. I didn’t get his name, nor the name of the girl who seated us, but everyone on the staff we encountered was accomodating, friendly, and pleasant. The bill for 2 ($81 total including gratuity) was well worth it – and much cheaper than expected – for such a good meal. Will be returning whenever we get the chance; and we might bring others!
Sadly, the only picture I got of the food was a plate of mushrooms I sent to my sister, who can’t stand their taste nor texture
Now the food. I got the bone in ribeye and wow… cooked perfectly as ordered. With yellow rice. (My option) I would have preferred a second side with the meal but I cant control that part. But my food tasted so good I immediately knew I was coming back.
It was my wife’s birthday, so we got the chocolate cake and I even ate that… which says a LOT, since I dont tend to eat much sweets. I can’t rave enough about this place. I wasn’t expecting much but man was I absolutely wrong. If you are in Lexington SC or nearby, you gotta try it. You will not be disappointed.
Service: We had an excellent waiter! He was very vocal and upbeat. You can tell he had a lot of things going at once but never forgot anything and was very polite and accommodating when the restaurant was out of certain menu items and exchanging an unwanted item.
Food: Their loaded nachos were amazing! The chips are a new favorite for sure! And the apple bone-Ada dessert was so good. There were some misses such as the salad having a ton of salt on it, and one persons steak was overly dry, though mine was fantastic (New York strip) . But I count those towards just regular human error and not a reflection on the restaurant as a daily occurrence.
Overall I rate the whole experience a 5/5 and we plan to be back to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and a bunch of appetizers and dessert next time 🙂 It’s definitely nice to have such a fine dining restaurant so close.
Two notes: The menu on the website is not what they use. They do a new menu every week or two, which I was happy about because there was more I wanted on the updated one. Also, I think they upfitted an old diner because it was like a diner vibe on the inside, but they dress up the booths to seem nicer. I enjoyed it a lot. I hope to go back one day!
