The fries were given in the bags used for eggrolls. The ones I ate didn’t have a single crunch to them, soggiest fries I had at any bonchon.
The buldak is definitely not a buldak. It had 0 heat to it, and no cheese!! It was just stir-fried chicken, with what looks like ground up chicken, some onions and rice cakes, and scallions. I took a bite out of it anyways, spit it out and decided to call to return it. My GPS told me it would be a 40-min drive because of traffic so I decided I’ll just toss it and lose my money for it instead.
This was also the first bonchon location where I was given short-grained rice. I’m not a fan of short-grained rice and not sure why they have that instead of jasmine rice.
The person that answered the phone was nice though. He said they would give me a comped buldak on my next visit even though I said it wasn’t necessary.
I like the Korean donut. It’s dense and full of flavor. You can get a vanilla dipping sauce i like mine plain.
I usually don’t dare eat fried chicken elsewhere, and if I do, I have to peel off the skin because the batter is usually too thick. But your chicken was perfectly done, and the meat was very fresh.
My husband used to run a restaurant and normally doesn’t like chicken at all, but today he ate four or five wings and kept saying how authentic the flavor was
Thank you again—we really enjoyed everything!
I ordered 10 pc Wings, Half & Half. Half (5) Soy Garlic and Half (5) Plain. For my side, because of the above-mentioned issue, I had to get coleslaw. As an additional item, I got some extra Ranch Dressing.
I wasn’t too impressed with their packaging. If anyone here has ever delivered food, or has a shred of sense, will know – CARDBOARD is the worst for heat retention and prevention of build of moisture… I have no idea why Bonchon chooses to use cardboard packaging for items they know will need to stay as dry and crispy as possible, but it was a horrible choice, and needs to be changed.
Let’s start with the smallest items.. The ranch dressing was bland and simply generic, and had a very very runny consistency to it, to the point that if you dipped your wing into the ranch, it was running off like a waterfall before you could get it to your mouth.
Next the coleslaw – I’m not a huge fan of coleslaw, to be fair, but when I smelled this coleslaw and tried a bit of it, I could tell that it was amazing and anyone who likes coleslaw would love this stuff… It smelled and tasted fresh and vibrant.
Finally – the main part of the whole meal – The chicken wings!
Sadly, I didn’t enjoy these wings as much as everyone had hyped them up to… The plain wings were just that – PLAIN. No salt. No pepper. No ANYTHING. Literally a wing, dipped in un-flavored batter, and dipped into oil. They were quite greasy on the inside, under all the batter shell. It was so bland that it was depressing! I had a hard time even finishing the ones I had because they were bland, and the runny-ranch didn’t do much to help it!
The soy garlic wings were what saved this place slightly… They were decently good, and had a great flavor to them… They were a bit heavy on the flavor to the point that the chicken didn’t get a chance to live up to it’s glory, and was fully masked by other flavors.. The exterior of the wings for both the soy garlic and the plain wings had an amazing crunch to them, and was what I always imagine fried wings will come out as… It’s just sad that this place’s food couldn’t live up to the hype-level it was boosted to… It’s not as bad as some of the local wing places I’ve been to and I might try it again for another opinion, but for now I’ll leave it near the bottom of the list. My top favorites will still be Pizza Time, and Wingstop.
My husband immediately called the restaurant and spoke with the manager, Jason, to explain the mistake and let him know I was willing to drive back so they could correct the order. To my surprise, he refused to make it right. His dismissive and rude attitude was unprofessional and especially upsetting considering this was supposed to be a special birthday meal.
Good food should always be paired with respectful and fair service, and in this case, the lack of accountability and professionalism completely overshadowed the experience. For the price and effort it takes to eat here, I expected far better. I hope corporate leadership takes this feedback seriously and re-evaluates how customer concerns are being handled at this location.
