Reviews
The restaurant is clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Service is quick, portions are generous, and prices are very reasonable for the quality of food.
Overall, a great spot for anyone craving genuine Indian street food.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic and flavorful Indian dining experience. I will definitely be returning to try more dishes. If you appreciate great food, warm hospitality, and a lively atmosphere, Bombay Street Food 3 is the place to be!
Every dish I’ve tried has been bursting with authentic flavors — especially the butter chicken, biryani, and garlic naan. The food is always fresh, well-seasoned, and served hot. The portion sizes are generous, and everything tastes homemade with real attention to detail.
The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and has a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere — perfect for both casual dining and special occasions.
I highly recommend Bombay Street Food 3 to anyone looking for genuine Indian food and excellent service. I’ll definitely be coming back again soon!
I’m extremely disappointed to write this review, as I was looking forward to enjoying authentic Indian street food at Bombay Street Food Express 3 in Washington D.C. Unfortunately, my experience was a letdown, with subpar food quality and unimpressive service.
We ordered a variety of dishes, including the Sweet Gobhi Alu, Dal Fry, and Rotis. The Sweet Gobhi Alu, which I was particularly excited to try, was a major disappointment. The cauliflower and potatoes were raw and undercooked, making the dish inedible. The sweetness overpowered any other flavors that might have been present, making it a cloying and unpleasant experience.
The Dal Fry was mediocre at best. The lentils were cooked, but the dish lacked depth and flavor. It was a generic, uninspired rendition of a classic Indian dish.
The Rotis were another letdown. They were thick and undercooked, with a dense, doughy texture that was unappealing. It’s inexcusable for an Indian restaurant to serve subpar rotis, as they’re a staple of the cuisine.
The service was also unimpressive. Our server seemed disinterested and took a long time to take our order. The food arrived in a timely manner, but the server didn’t check in on us regularly to ensure that everything was to our liking.
Overall, my experience at Bombay Street Food Express 3 was a disappointment. With subpar food quality and unimpressive service, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Indian cuisine.

_Recommendation:_
Avoid Bombay Street Food Express 3 unless you’re desperate for Indian food and have no other options. There are far better Indian restaurants in Washington D.C. that offer authentic, delicious cuisine.
We had shown up on time for our reservation and somehow— we had to wait for a table despite the restaurant being nearly empty at the time. This wasn’t a terribly long wait but when our party was sat, we were immediately prompted for a drink order and when we asked for just a few minutes to take a look at the menu— we were deserted for over 15 minutes.
Copious amounts of eye contact brought our waiter back over eventually and when he did come back— we asked about a sticker on the table offering free desert for insta followers. We asked if there was a specific desert or something and were told we’d be able to order whatever we wanted off the desert menu.
We asked about tea since there were multiple tea options on the limited menu and we asked if they had Thai tea at all. They said they did and we clarified Thai tea— not Chai, just to make sure, but that clarification didn’t matter at the end of the day as we were brought two hot Chais that cost 7$ each. We figured hey, our fault— and decided to eat that cost and move along.
By the time food came out— the first thing we noticed was the teeny portion sizes. There was very little rice which made the 20 dollar price tag on the Butter Chicken very steep— but worst yet, ALL the meat was somehow dark meat. I cut a piece and the grey-pink color completely turned me off.
But, moving on— when we finished the meal— our party once again had to chase down a waiter as he did not come back to our table at all after dropping off the entrees. We asked about desert again and were now informed the only free desert was rice pudding. Our party asked about deserts we could purchase and were told to order anything. We ordered the vanilla brûlée.
Ten minutes later, the waiter came back and dropped off a bowl of rice pudding on the table without a word and walked away. I walked over and asked him what this was and asked him what this was— to which he replied— “rice pudding.” I asked if we really were getting the brûlée and he replied that the pudding was the brûlée despite none of the toppings (caramel and pistachios). I asked about the and he said it was “mixed.”
I said I did not believe him as he went back and forth with me multiple times. I asked for a manager and he left only to come back ten minutes later and he told me that a manager was not available.
I attempted to explain the multiple communication issues and was told the desert was correct and that we were at an Indian restaurant so Thai Tea would’ve been out of place. Understandable but I had asked multiple times and it’s not like Sprite is an authentic Indian beverage.
After the waiter leaving and coming back for a third time to argue with me— I told him I did not want to do this anymore and wanted to pay our check and leave. We did so and while the price was steep— we did not realize that half of that was an 18% service charge on EACH of our bills. This ended up being an extra 15$ on a three person bill, not including the extra tip we were prompted for before we realized this.
Overall, the food was not worth the price nor the headache to have only left half full with a bad taste in our mouths and a headache from staff.
