I also expected exceptional food with a “wow wow-wee wow” factor from a Michelin-starred restaurant. Unfortunately, those expectations weren’t met. All the dishes were under-seasoned, and the hot courses were served at room temperature. The roasted scallops and the miso caramel brownie were the only dishes I enjoyed. The portions were extremely small and expensive, especially considering the food quality, atmosphere, and service I would expect from a Michelin Star ⭐.
Since the RW menu wasn’t presented at its best, I have no interest in trying the regular menu. Overall, the experience and reviews were overhyped and not worth the price! I would recommend saving your money, dining somewhere with a more welcoming atmosphere, and greater care put into both service and food. I do NOT recommend! Period.
Cocktails set the tone: the Lady of the Lake was a revelation—crisp, complex, reminding me of that lingering Arak taste profile. My only quibble? A plastic straw in the other drink. Boka, you’re too pretty for that.
The course plates were all criminally gorgeous. Roasted beet salad struck such a beautiful balance between earthy and bright, while the cook on scallop was la parfait . Duck Leg Tortelli – Rich, bold, and deeply satisfying. The roasted chicken was a top technique of crispy skin and juicy meat, though the rutabaga side was a bit too sour for my taste.
Service was warm, attentive, and refreshingly unpretentious. Sweet touch – dressing up a desert for Bday celebration!
Whether you’re a food snob or just hungry, Boka leaves you with a full belly, a happy heart, and a newfound respect for culinary artistry.
Every plate that came out was almost too beautiful to eat, but I’m glad we did! The flavors in every dish were just amazing. We started with the caviar and it was the perfect kickoff to the dinner. And I have to say, don’t sleep on the chicken dish. I know it sounds simple, but it was genuinely my favorite thing we ordered all night, cooked perfectly.
The vibe is great for a special night out, and the cocktails were fantastic. What really stood out, though, was the staff. Everyone was so friendly, and their wine suggestions were spot on, which made the whole experience even better.
We had an unforgettable night. Boka is definitely worth it for a special occasion. 5 stars, easily!
One final statement. I know this is a Michelin star restaurant known for it’s food and service but my vocation is in the maintenance field. So I was disappointed when I used the men’s washroom. The washroom had a goober on the wall directly next to the sink, there was a chip in the ceramic space heater, and the first door you see as you head downstairs to the bathroom was very askew.
Regardless of all that we did have a great experience. Thank you to the staff for being so attentive!
While our server was polite, there was little guidance through the menu, and service pacing was inconsistent. My drink arrived at least 10 minutes after my husband’s, and an appetizer was initially delivered incorrectly, with minimal explanation throughout the meal, and the check was mistakenly presented for a neighboring table suggesting a broader lack of attention to detail.
The sunchoke soup felt quite heavy for a starter. The roasted chicken, however, was excellent; tender, well-executed, and the standout dish of the evening.
Despite noting a birthday celebration in advance, it went unacknowledged until reminded, and after a reminder, a single candle was brought separately, which felt more procedural than celebratory and did not reflect a sense of occasion.
Having dined at Michelin-level restaurants before, this experience was genuinely surprising. Even accounting for the volume of Restaurant Week, the evening lacked cohesion, intentional pacing, and a consistent sense of hospitality. Service felt transactional rather than experiential, with multiple servers delivering dishes in quick succession and minimal engagement.
I had the brown butter scallops and the Dry aged duck.
Brown butter scallops needed way more brown butter flavor. I feel like the foam took away from the aesthetics and the taste of the dish. Scallops were expertly cooked
The dry aged duck is a very strong dish, crispy top, cooked to perfection. Heart sausage, puree and the shiitake mushroom didn’t wow me as well. Honestly, good restaurant, just a bit expensive for what you get.
Cocktail with mezcal and tequila was fine.
On the fancier side and small portions so probably wouldn’t go all the time. Came for restaurant Week 2026.
I did like that the people bringing the food would tell you what it was, but I couldn’t hear what they were saying.
I also do not like wine. However, I am happy to say I had 8 glasses of really good wine with my food. It might have changed my perspective. Really well done dinner and service. Highly recommend.
The silverware placed at every course was placed haphazardly to the point where I felt like I was reaching into my friend’s plating area to get my fork. And the entire time it felt so rushed, like they seated us late for reasons that we weren’t responsible for and were making it up by rushing our food
Anyways, really disappointing service for such a highly regarded restaurant. We left feeling like we were treated like an after thought and will not be coming back any time soon.
