Some dinners feel special the moment you sit down—and Boilerhouse Prime in West Lafayette is one of those places. Our son brought us here for a family dinner, and it couldn’t have been a better choice.
Housed in a beautifully restored 1920s power plant that once supplied steam and electricity to Purdue University, Boilerhouse Prime blends industrial history with modern fine dining. Exposed brick, soaring ceilings, and original architectural elements give the space a sense of place—you’re not just eating here, you’re stepping into a piece of Purdue history.
We started with the bone marrow, rich, buttery, and indulgent in the best way. The French onion soup followed—deeply flavorful, perfectly balanced, and everything you want from a classic done right. The standout of the night for me was the salmon wellington: beautifully cooked, flaky salmon wrapped in delicate pastry, elegant yet comforting.
The menu is clearly designed for both celebration and connection—ideal for family dinners, milestone moments, or a memorable night out. Service was attentive without feeling rushed, letting us enjoy the experience at our own pace.
Helpful Tip:
This is a great spot for special occasions—especially if you appreciate history, thoughtful execution, and elevated comfort food.
Boilerhouse Prime isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a place where great food, family moments, and Purdue’s past come together at the table. ❤️
The venue is amazing and so beautiful. The streets were covered and warnings were everywhere, but inside here it was warm and inviting. Have you ever been somewhere when a storm moves in and you feel unwelcome because the workers would rather have stayed home? (And not even that you can blame them). Not here. We had some stop and thank us for coming in tonight as we were waiting to be seated. Turns out, she then was our server. Lucky us too because Leza was amazing and made sure that our first visit will not be our last!
Due to the weather, my niece ended up with us unexpectedly and they were great about adjusting our group from 5 to 6 people.
Leza took great care in fully explaining the menu and various options, offering recommendations and thoughts on her own favorites.
The food was delicious. After being in BahaMar for a week the week prior for basketball games and eating at several celebrity chef restaurants that fell a bit short, this was lace lived up to the hype from beginning to end – only problem was that we filled up too much to have room left to try any desserts so will have to plan better next time.
The bread was delicious, oysters were a hit, the wedge and its bacon were photo worthy, but the steaks disappeared so quickly there wasn’t even time for photographic evidence.
This restaurant is such a great addition to the Lafayette area. We’ll be back and will be asking to be seated in Leza’s section again!
Went with a group of buddies and sampled a wide range of the menu. The seafood tower was outstanding—definitely pricey, but well worth it. The horseradish cocktail sauce is no joke and gives St. Elmo’s a serious run for its money. The Wagyu appetizer was fun to try, though not my personal favorite.
When it came to steaks, both were exceptional. The tomahawk was the clear winner—cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. For sides, the creamed spinach was lights out and an absolute must-order.
Drinks were solid, and the wait staff was attentive and professional throughout the night. Overall, Boiler Prime is a fantastic addition to Purdue and a huge step up for the local dining scene.
Our server, Allen, was amazing! He introduced something they do called a “menu tour,” where he went over the menu and shared his favorite dish from each course. It really helped us decide what to order, and every recommendation was spot-on.
The food came out quickly and was served hot. I noticed that several people helped bring out our dishes, so I asked about it. They explained that they have designated “food runners” to make sure your meal doesn’t sit in the kitchen waiting if your server is busy. How great is that?
This is fine dining at its best. You’re definitely paying for top-quality food and outstanding service — truly the best in Lafayette!
My son and I had the small filets. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. We also had the stone crab appetizer and the baked alaska for dessert.
Highly recommend and will return when back at Purdue.
