Pricey food, but you get what you pay for, and I have paid much more for this type of food elsewhere.
I am saving up to return next year, because a day later I can still remember the excellent tastes, textures and flavours.
We went there for my mother in-law’s 65th birthday, a very special evening for her and we all sat at the chefs table in the kitchen back in June this year (pre-booked a month or so before of course).
You would think it might be noisy in there! Not really. The team was so organised, lead by chef Tom. Everyone knows what they’re supposed to be doing for each station.
Not a single dish that went out to the tables without inspection of the chef and his approval. A couple of occasions where he rejected and they had to prepare again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting menu from amuse-bouche to our final chocolates (see some pictures below). It was a not so busy Friday night so the chef, himself came to serve every single dishes to us explaining the dish in details.
All staff members were friendly and attentive
Highly recommend the chef’s table experience. It’s one of a kind.
I must say the new chef, Tom has absolutely made his mark and improved the food quality drastically and he’s only been head chef a month!
All of the courses were full of flavour, even the eel which I was a little weary about trying!
My personal favourites were the Turbot and then the strawberry pre dessert.
Caviar on a dessert… I know maybe strange but it really worked with all of the other flavours.
The service was absolutely impeccable, from start to finish.
I must say if this is his first month as head chef, I’m really excited for what’s to come!
Highly recommend.
The four courses were enough for us.
We asked for the wine pairing and treated to some delicious tastes.
We both had different plates for each course and if being picky, a couple of them missed. The Rigatoni was salty, you might say a little bit too much and the crab red Thai curry was sublime and sweet but paired with a sharp amazing lime sorbet that was too strong for the crab.
Overall we loved the food.
The hotel bar was busy but not too intrusive.
The maitre d’hotel was excellent and ran a good service.
We would come again
From an old chefs perspective, I would like to say thank you to all involved. The passion showed in each dish, and we were blown away by the quality.
No unnecessary bells or whistles, just super tasty food immaculately plated and served.
Vanilla panna cotta with textures of rhubarb………my all-time favorite dessert! It appeared so delicate and dainty, but each mouthful was like being punched by Tyson Fury! Mind boggling creativity from the kitchen.
The craziest thing is that the lunch menu is only £59!!!!! Absolute bargain!
Service was very good although they were missing our first choice of wine due to lack of delivery. The sommelier more than made up for this by letting us try a number of other wines free to accompany the rest of the meal and also served some great cocktails!
The food was classical French cooked to a good standard with no thrills, just simple ingredients prepared with skill and served with elegance and a little table side finishing.
The restaurant is comfortable and the atmosphere is pleasant although very quiet on our visit ( out of season).
In our opinion it upheld its Michelin rating and we would highly recommend a visit if you’re visiting Jersey.
I’ve been to a few Michelin Star restaurants and I’ve always left blown away, with an amazing experience to remember… they’re typically great value, justifying the high prices.
At Bohemia, I felt cheated. Surely this can’t be the best Jersey has to offer?
