While visiting Charlottesville, we kept hearing that Bodo’s Bagels was a must-try spot—and it absolutely lived up to the hype. When we arrived, the line was already forming out the door, but the staff worked incredibly quickly and efficiently. We waited roughly five minutes in line and another five minutes for our food, which was impressive given how busy it was.

The bagels were fresh, delicious, and definitely worth the stop. There was also plenty of seating available, which made the experience comfortable despite the crowd.

Bodo’s Bagels did not disappoint and is well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

If you are planning to order cream cheese bagels, be ready for it. The amount of it is no joke! I love this place!

Bodo’s Bagels is an excellent spot for anyone who loves fresh, high-quality bagels. The bagels are delicious on their own or made into hearty sandwiches, with a wide variety of fresh-made cream cheese spreads that are equally impressive. Service is consistently fast and efficient, even during busy hours, and the restaurant is always clean and well-kept. Overall, Bodo’s Bagels delivers great food, friendly service, and a comfortable environment—definitely worth a visit.

I recently visited the Bodo’s on Preston and ordered a bagel to go. When I got home, I was horrified to find a huge clump of hair baked right into my food. It was absolutely revolting. For a restaurant with such a great reputation, this shows shockingly low standards of cleanliness and food safety. I even left a voicemail for management, but never received a response. I hope management takes this as a wake-up call to fix their health practices immediately.

Their food is incredibly delicious, of exceptional quality, and their service is incredibly fast and organized. The only downside is that they charge for common toppings like tomatoes and cucumbers for example

We are trying breakfast at this restaurant for the first time, and my husband and I really liked it. I chose a sesame bagel, and it was delicious.

Staple of C-ville, Bodo’s has the best bagels around. Love the jalapeno lime cream cheese on everything or onion bagel. Pro tip, if you’re taking out and weather is nice, take your food over to the Rotunda near by at UVA for a great place to sit and have a bite.

We all agreed this was some of the best and freshest bagels we’ve ever tasted. Their authentic New York‑style water bagels are made from scratch every day, boiled and baked right on the premises, giving them a perfect chewy interior and rich flavor you just don’t find elsewhere.

The egg and bacon sandwich we tried was packed with egg and stacked tall with bacon, and it was simply the best breakfast sandwich we’ve ever had—hearty, satisfying, and just the right balance of ingredients. We loved them so much that we ended up buying three dozen bagels to take home.

Bodo’s also offers a ton of bagel flavors and plenty of spreads and toppings so you can build something exactly how you like it. If you’re in Charlottesville and want fresh, flavorful bagels done right, this place should be at the top of your list.

Solid choice for breakfast, lunch or early dinner! This place is a Charlottesville institution. I’ve been coming here off and on for over ten years. I’ve never heard any locals say anything bad about Bodo’s. This is why there’s usually a line out the door at lunchtime, especially on the weekends.
Budget friendly. Good amount of tasty vegetarian options. They don’t use a grill here, hot food is heated in a microwave. The bagels are delicious but they do not accommodate requests to “scoop” your bagel. The daily soup is hit or miss. I’ve had fantastic ones and ones that made me wish I had ordered something else.
The dining area has a casual, welcoming, cafeteria style vibe and it’s usually a lively atmosphere unless you go during off hours.
The bathrooms are gendered male and female. No gender inclusive option.
About 1/3 of the time I eat here, there’s something missing from my order so if you’re getting something to go, be sure to check your order before heading out.
Check out the community bulletin board by the door where you can find out info on cool events going on around town. It’s one of the best ones in town!

The bagels are moist, freshly made , and delicious. They have a variety of schmears and bagels. You can order any protein to make a sanwich.

I happen to order their pastrami with egg and cheese. Absolutely worth every cent.

They allow you to customize any sandwich with different condiments, cheeses, or spreads.

Their are 3 different locations. All of them are in Charlottsville.

You will not regret stopping by.
