10/10 experience! Had no reservation but we arrived at opening time and we were grateful to get a table on a Saturday night. Food was incredibly authentic and I was impressed as a self proclaimed Italian food connoisseur. Pasta was very fresh, sauce was so well balanced, and tiramisu like grandmas. One of my top 5 favorite restaurants in the city

This is a nice Italian restaurant, small intimate. I liked that there were no TVs but the music was so loud. My friend said their potatoes were over salted but recommended the calamari! I liked the chicken parm and fettuccine. About $200 for 4 people

Best Italian food, best gnocchi, I have ever had. Limoncello sliver and Gorgonzola gnocchi with prosciutto added. Homemade, authentic, so fresh. So good I wiped the sauce from the plate with extra bread. Wonderful atmosphere and warm staff. The prices are completely fair. Highly recommend. I really enjoyed my experience.

My girlfriend and I were visiting San Francisco and decided to explore Little Italy and found this restaurant and decided to try it, best decision we could have taken. The restaurant is small, but welcoming. It is nicely decorated, with soft music playing. The staff and owner welcomed us with welcome arms and were both friendly and helpful. Our server was attentive and friendly, both the waiter and the owner were attentive if we needed anything. They have a big wine selection, and all of them are great. The food was amazing, really tasty and enjoyable, perfect amount as well. The dessert was lovely as well and the coffee was on point too. If you come to San Francisco, please come by, it feels like a neighborhood restaurant and the vibes are amazing, you feel like home. 10/10.

During my first visit, the pasta, vegetables, grilled fish, and steak at Bocconcino were of decent quality, but pricey. However, the quality really dropped during my second visit, with poor quality pasta sauce, small portions, and bizarre tasting ravioli. The rice dish was small and not good tasting at all. We all have our ups and downs, but I leave a two star review for now.

The interiors of the restaurant are high quality works of craftsmanship.

We had dinner at Bocconcino on a busy Friday night, and it was absolutely worth it. I highly recommend making a reservation — the place fills up quickly, which already says a lot about how good it is.
Our server (she was wonderful!) was incredibly attentive throughout the evening. She checked in at just the right times, made thoughtful recommendations, and ensured everything was perfect without ever feeling intrusive.
The food was delicious, the ambiance was lively yet comfortable, and the overall experience made for a great Friday night out.

We decided to try a little known restaurant on a whim. This small restaurant had big taste and great service. We shared a wonderful bottle of wine but decided to skip appetizers for the entrees. As a GF diner, I chose the grilled fish entree. My snapper was perfectly cooked, not overly so. It had a tasty light sauce. There were five of us and everyone approved heartily of their wine, meals and desserts. Service was very friendly and attentive. We couldn’t have asked for a better dinner experience. Thank you!

A friendly, small restaurant with really good Italian comfort food, and decent wine by the glass (the Pinot Grigio was probably the best). The gnocchi were especially good.

Caution: the music can get very loud. I couldn’t hear the person across the table from me for a few minutes, but the owner did turn it down when asked.

This small boutique Italian restaurant is not just a place to eat — it’s a place you feel.

From the very first moment, you’re welcomed with such warmth that it instantly sets the tone for the entire evening. The heart and soul of this place is the owner, Rosario. His hospitality is something truly special — genuine, kind, attentive, and full of heart. He makes you feel like a guest in his home, not just a customer. The kind of person whose warmth stays with you long after you leave.

Now about the food — everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, beautifully prepared, and full of authentic Italian soul.

Bocconcino
A light and fresh starter, perfectly balanced. What I truly appreciated is that it wasn’t over-seasoned — the flavors were clean and natural, allowing each ingredient to shine. I could season it exactly to my own taste, which made it feel even more thoughtful and refined.

Polipo alla Griglia
Outstanding. Perfectly grilled octopus — tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Cooked with great care and precision, with just the right texture and depth. Truly memorable.

Parmigiana di Melanzane
Comfort food done right. Rich layers of eggplant, tomato sauce, and cheese, baked to perfection. Deep, warm, authentic flavors that felt homemade and deeply Italian.

Ravioli Fish
Elegant and beautifully balanced. The fish filling was delicate and flavorful, and the sauce complemented it perfectly without overpowering the dish. A refined, thoughtful plate that shows real craftsmanship.

The menu is small, but that’s exactly what makes this place special — every dish feels intentional, carefully chosen, and made with love. Portions are not oversized, but very satisfying. And honestly, the prices pleasantly surprised me — for this level of quality, service, and atmosphere, the value is excellent.

Dining here genuinely felt like a short trip to Italy — warm, soulful, flavorful, and full of heart.

When we return to San Francisco, this restaurant will absolutely be on our list again. Places like this are rare, and Rosario makes it unforgettable.

Highly recommended.

Amazing food and atmosphere. I had the Lasagna, it was served in a rich Vodka sauce that was perfect. The Wine recommended by the waiter to pair was also perfect. Totally recommend this place for great atmosphere and amazing food.
